1. As others have mentioned, this has been around for awhile. At least before the 1.1 betas. The worst case I had was a King Tiger that decided to fire smoke at a group of infantry that was 900 meters (NINE HUNDRED METERS!!) away!!!!!!! I still see it happen from time to time, but haven't had it be that extreme again.

 3. Anyone know if they are they going to add the rest of the weapons in a follow up beta? Or am I somehow missing the MG42, flame thrower and others somehow?
 4.
quote:
Originally posted by Loki: I too am starting to think that there is a problem with the AI in 1.1. I had a Sherman in scattered trees turn around a corner of a building to see the REAR end of a Tiger just 60m away.Instead of getting off a shot he sat there for 10 seconds and went into reverse and turned ro put the building between him and the Tiger.

Well, I had almost an exact same thing happen as you did just last night. Except for the outcome. In a big city scenario I deliberatly moved a Sherman II around the corner of a block to get behind a Panther that I had seen with other units. The Panther was buttoned, but somehow noticed the Sherman behind it and began to swing it's turret. But the crew loaded up that 75 and popped him in the side, knocking it out. The range was also about 60m I've played some 5 or so scenarios with 1.1 and have yet to see any odd behavior from tank AI. Just my .02 [This message has been edited by Phoenix (edited 01-18-2001).]
 5.
quote:
Originally posted by Flipper: well a "collapsing building" should'nt knock out a gun or kill infantry..

How do you come about this theory??? A building that collapses can sure as hell injure and/or kill the people inside it. Ask some earthquake vicitims what it's like when the ceiling of the house your in falls, or the walls literally come tumbling down. [This message has been edited by Phoenix (edited 01-18-2001).]
 6. All depends on your network connection and how fast the server is responding. That's like a 9 meg file right? Gonna take some time if you've got a 56k modem, that's for sure. Just checked with my DSL connection (1.4 meg) and it said 7 minutes. [This message has been edited by Phoenix (edited 01-17-2001).]
 7.
quote:
Originally posted by Banshee: I hate the fact that there isnt a command for "move forward and when you see the enemy stop and fire" (i.e. hunt). The closest that comes to this is Sneak but they only stop when fired upon.

Actually the closest command is MOVE. It's most certainly not the sneak command. Sneak means do everything you can not to be seen and fire only if fired upon.
 8. >So BTS please take another look at how you >are implementing TCIP, There's no need to. As others have alreaedy pointed out the results are calculated on the machine that does "math" the fastest and then sent to the other. >BTS! Slow TCIP connection at a disadvantage? Not in the least bit. This is still a "Wego" game. Nothing else has changed.
 9.
quote:
Originally posted by peasant: oh yeah i guess i forgot to say for what...... a tcp/ip game on the demo version

Don't hold your breathe for one. I doubt it's high on the list of things to do right now.
 10.
quote:
Originally posted by Tankety_Lee: I was thinking primarily of future additions/ add ons to the Combat Mission series of games that will rule the roost (or should) in the future. The product is fantastic as is. Just offering ideas that came to me for eventual further consideration.

I understand what you were saying and certainly understand the interest in changes and add ons. But after CM2, they are going to work on a completely new engine (CM-II) that will be the basis for CM3 and CM4. I don't think there's going to be a lot of spare time for add ons to the original CM. As Steve has said in the past, there's only so much time, and SOOOOOO much to do.
 11. Just so ya know, there won't be anymore changes or any add on packs to CM. At least not until CM2 is completed. The only patches or updates will be bug fixes and perhaps minor AI tweaks.
 12.
quote:
Originally posted by blitz: But somethings I noticed, there are plenty of CM textures used in it, I noticed the trees and small house textures are right from CM and some sounds...

Eh???? There are no CM textures or sounds in this game. Not sure how someone could make that comment. (????)
 13. This is one great reason to get a CD burner. First thing I did was burn a copy and place the original back in it's case and filed it away.
 14.
quote:
Originally posted by Major Tom: I think this movie would be extremely interesting if they actually used German and Russian actors speaking in German and Russian with subtitles. It would make for a more authentic movie, avoiding the entire hollywood garbage by using 'established' actors.

Of course. But then it wouldn't have gotten a $100 million+ budget and "no one" would have gone to see it.
 15. <sigh> They just can't resist putting some babe in the movie. I mean look at that gal. Nice makeup and everything in the middle of the Russian winter at Stalingrad. Ugh. I'll probably see it anyway...but man.
 16.
quote:
Originally posted by mensch: well here is your donuts.. beta testing as far as I know is in progress.. heck even a neeto shot of a t-34 or maybe something like that would make me a happy puppy

Beta testing is "in progress"?? Where on earth did you read that. Im sure Fionn would love to hear about it as he recently indicated that there's still nothing more than research going on.
 17.
quote:
Originally posted by poolman: How about being able to purchase sandbags like you do pillboxes and bunkers. And then being able to mount them on your vehicle... CM2?

While a neat idea, this isn't really possible with the current CM "engine". Unit values are hard coded in the game so you can't just "add" more armor (sand bags etc) on the fly. CM2 is going to be based on CM, so don't expect to see that kind of stuff for now.
 18.
quote:
...then make ot a little more resistant than normal Sherman (they were 76s) and add some points to make it a bit more expensive, then make sure that it is very rare to find (only some were made) and the game is done!

Francesco, it's just not this simple. This would require BTS make a new version of the vehicle in question, and they are not going to do this now. Simply put, there will be no further vehicle additions/changes or any other major changes to CM anymore. CM2 is now the primary focus for BTS. Patches will only be for serious game play issues (mostly all resolved now) or identified bugs.
 19.
quote:
Originally posted by Francesco: I Think that it would be amazing to rescue a bogged-in tank before the battle is finished, during WW2 it happened sometimes (not so often I admit it).

But the point is it didn't happen DURING a massive fire fight. Which is what CM is all about of course.
 20. I've had squads take out closed tops with grenades (immobilzing them) and as recently as two nights back I had an American squad that was "taking cover" take out an immobilized Hetzer with a rifle grenade.
 21.
quote:
Originally posted by Buket: Phoenix, After another carefull reading of my post I noticed that I "did" state that I sent a e-mail to the sales people at battlefront. Steve.

Actually what you said was quote - " I have sent a letter off to the Battlefront sales guys..." I thought you'd actually sent off a LETTER, not an email. Anyway, you'll get the game soon enough. We all had to wait, and we all survived.
 22. Your right, this isn't the place. Contact - sales@battlefront.com
 23. What? I thought the HIDE command as applied to tanks was an order for the tank to take a hull down position A hull down position is relative to the other units targeting it. You can't order a unit to go "hull down", it's not that simple. While you may be hull down to one enemy unit, you could still be wide open to another. There's no way the AI could figure out WHICH enemy you wanted to be hull down against. Hide is simply putting engines to idle. Says so right in the manual. 25. Halo? Cripes. Isn't that vaporware? I've been reading about that and seeing stuff about it for 2 years now. It's getting as bad as Duke Nukem Forever (5 years?) and Team Fortress.
