CMBB INSTALL ISSUES! COME HERE FOR LATEST INFO!!!!
Phoenix replied to Madmatt's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
I had one machine fail on install as others have reported. My other PC installed the game with no problems at all. Am guessing it's a media problem. And yeah, Bam65, you are a whiner. Get a grip. In FIVE minutes Matt had emailed me the files that were missing from install and I was playing. Crap happens during mass production, it's what a company does after to correct the situation that counts. So wah. -
Heeeeeelp CMBB doesn`t install correctly !!!!!!!!

Just installed it on my other machine. That one is also a Dell, but has a newer CDRW, a Yamaha 8424E. -

Mine just stopped at 94301.wav, same error about a device attached to the system is not functioning. This is a PC CD ordered from the US. Dell Dimension 4100 - PIII 866, 384MB ram CDROM - Samsung SC-148F I ended up with all the BMP files, both Openplay files, but only 2318 WAVs, and no directory for scenarios. Am trying to install it on another machine now. -
I know it COULD, but what I mean is does CMBB model this possibility??

The new rounds are commonly called "flechette rounds". Seems to be some controversy too - http://www.janes.com/regional_news/africa_middle_east/news/jdw/jdw010522_2_n.shtml

Seems to reason that a hit on the radio would knock it out of command and control. Can the radio be hit? Also, can an AT rifle, or even a richocheting shell cause a tank to be shocked. Cheers!

You can program the buttons, but I can't see where you can program the wheel "rolling" to do anything else. Am I missing something?

New High-Visibility Tracers
Phoenix replied to Captain Wacky's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I tried the updated ones, but no offense, I didn't like em. I tried yellow and red, and they seemed to "disappear faster" than the originals. For awhile I wasn't sure there was anything even on the screen. I went back to the originals. -
{spoilers!!!] I'd like to know what the difference is between plain old "running" and "human wave". So far I see no benefit. Human waving my guys in the tutorial right towards one fox holes did exactly what you'd expect. Laid waste to the Russians who broke and ran instantly.

I have arrived.

That's ok, 'cause Finn's aren't Scandinavians anyway! -
I think the ESC key was disabled since many of us are used to hitting "ESC" for other reasons. Im happy it's been changed!

Does anyone else love the new death clock?
Phoenix replied to Chad Harrison's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Ok, that's what I thought it was. But the term just was odd. I expected some sort of timer to show up on the screen! Yeah, it's a cool feature for sure. -

Where on earth is this "death clock" people keep talking about???? Does it appear on the screen? -
SPOILER! Questoin - What do people think about deploying the AT guns at the edges of the map? Dare I ask, is this "gamey". When I did it this way and waited till The Germans came into close range from the side I was able to wreck havoc. But I didn't feel very good about it since I felt like I'd sort of cheated because I knew there was no way they could move behind me due to the map edge. Comments?

I gave up on that scenerio after 5 turns. It was hopeless. Half of the troops routed, two tanks dead. Forget it. Very frustrating to play that one. I realize that "that's how it was" but still, not fun to play IMHO. It's alsmost like having NO control over the units.

Biggest letdown in CMBB demo so far...
Phoenix replied to SuperSulo's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Totally agreed. I think they are a wonderful improvment. -
Huh? You must be doing something wrong. It works exactly like CMBO.
-
{SPOILERS!!!] I just suck out loud at this scenario. Doens't matter what side. As the Germans I get my AT gun knocked out instantly. As the RussiansI can't kill the AT gun. Ugh.
-
Did you use the default positions for all your units????
-
No spoilers here....but I thought I'd play the tuturial on a lark. I mean how different can this be from CMBO? Hah!! The Germans handed me my ASS and I suffered a *Total Defeat*. Something I don't recall every having happen in CMBO. I played on Extreme Fog of War, and it was rather disconcerting to say the least. I think I inflicted 6 KIA on the Germans, while I lost nearly everyone. Damn, I've been playing CMBO since the Beta days too. Oh well..... Oh, the new sounds are fabulous!

woo-hoo! starting the download!
Phoenix replied to ryddle's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
THREE MINUTES LEFT!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! BTW - Want to avoid spoilers for a couple days? I advise avoiding the board entirely. Some noooby is bound to do something like - "WOW, that Sturmtiger sure surprised me!!!" Happy CMing
