  1. thanx for all the advise boys... i sadly dont have a fan on my card... its one of them with a huge metal heat dispenser thingys...

    and that is probarbly the problem...

    but since i cant fix it ill just wait til i get a job and buy a new computer.

    its definately the graphics card tho since this has only happened since i changed card to this.

    interestinly enough tho, if i put the old one in (that came with the box) the computer will just re-boot after 10 minutes or so...

    aaaaaanyway... this computer has been wierd since i got it basically... so im kinda fed up with it...

    ive had to do numerous re-formats and such...

  2. well... its probarbly the graphicscard...

    theres only one game thats stable on this computer right now... and thats jagged alliance 2 (an old 2d game) but even that has some graphics quirks, but only in the interface

    when i play any other game it starts getting graphics bugs after about one day... then it gets worse all the time and spreads to other games (including jagged alliance 2).

    if i uninstall the game and re-install it the bugs are still there... this happens all the time.. i install a new game and it works fine for the first day...

    this goes for all games... new or old... same deal...

    so ill have to wait... its a hardware problem.

    but the computers been on the fritz for a year or two now... so i knew it was coming... just too bad (but not unexpected) that it came now that i dont have any income...

  3. just thought id let you all know that there will be no further updates to my soundmod for this game.

    my computer is all messed up and i cant fix it... i need to buy a new one, but since im on welfare at the moment that isnt exactly on the horizon.

    so until i get a job and a new computer there will be no further soundmods for this or any other game from me.

    sorry guys.

    but on a good note, my soundmod was almost complete (i was gonna move on to non-weapon related sounds, but all the gun stuff was basically done)

  4. what im thinking here is the following scenario...

    the stryker sees muzzle flashes from that window (ie. spotting the enemy) and immediately engages... this supresses the enemy, but since that means the stryker no longer sees them, they all of a sudden cannot fire at that window... knowing full well that an enemy might pop up there again...

    see what i mean steve?

  5. ok, so ive been watching (and even downloading) the mods for CM:SF even tho im not playing it (and wont until they do an overhaul of the weapon accuracy and lack of groundcover).

    ive noticed a switch towards european/russian TOW wich is nice, but why is everyone concentrating on the russian side only?

    why no euro-camo US troops and vehicles?

    all ive seen so far is a green humvee, wich is still supposed to be iraqui

  6. well... thats one way of doing it... another is to manually lower the volume of all the sounds i have (if you dont know how to normalize that is) by using the standard windows sound recorder program.

    just open the files individually and select effects and then lower volume.

    oh and i personally dont think you can hear an idle stryker engine over a .50 cal hehe... guns are loud man... very very loud.

  7. ill be uploading the last version of the mod sometime this weekend i think...

    after that i wont make any more changes... i have a couple of things id like to try out, but since i no longer play the game i feel its not important to me...

    but if they "fix" the insanely accurate weapons and wierdly coverless terrain (you know... spotting troops way way into a forest and stuff like that) i might come back...
