simple answer: play scared...
do everything as if you were a coward and not some movie hero...
if youre gonna attack a set of hedgerows where you suspect there MIGHT be enemies, bomb the crap out of it with artillery, put coveringfire on it from machinegunners and tanks before you even send a single scouting unit in there...

For some reason, at least the last few times I've uploaded a mod, the Repos hasn't had a preview pic option...you have to go back and edit the listing and then there's an option to upload a picture...He probably didn't know that.

would have been nice with a preview picture... kinda sucks having to download, install and start the game just to see if i like it or not... :/

Thanx for that explanation steve, but it doesnt help me in a tiny quickbattle with infantry as germans since my mortars are more or less useless unless i keep all my troops bunched up... witch kinda sucks...

my main problem with this is that on-map mortars are more or less useless in scenarios where only a small force is present since there are one or no radios in the entire chain of command...

At least on the german side...
most of the times when i play a quickbattle i get one unit with a radio... meaning my mortars (of witch i usually get ample) are more or less useless...
last time i just quit since my (albeit very small) force had one HQ unit with a radio, and 4 mortars...
and 5-6 halftracks and 1 armored car (none of witch were equipped with radios)
how am i supposed to use my mortars indirectly when only one unit has a radio?
surely the mortar HQ units had radios to communicate with the rest of the company/battalion?

actually i find it disconcerting that they have slimmed down the sounds so much in a game that relies (partially) on using sound to identify threats...

In case you guys didn't notice, there is a mission editor in the game, so instead of "requesting" things, why don't you get the job done yourselves ?
i dont even have the game yet
oh and not everyone is good at using the new editor... so we kindly ask if some poor soul will help us...

The sad part is there aren't individual sounds for each weapon, so your M1A1 sound is your M3 sound is your MP40 sound, etc. It'd be nice to have individual sounds for most of the weapons.

OMG! i was just about to go on here and ask someone to make chance encounter
forgot what the other classics were named (been a while) but now i want them too of course
me and my buddy used to play these in hotseat over and over (of course we modified them over time, but still) and it would be sooooooo nostalgic to play them again

BFC has always been about the quality of their product... so i expect patches before modules (unless the patched bug requires too much time to fix)

the more i think about it, i am certain that the problem is weight...
the ammo carrier is weighted down by ammo so wont pick up the panzerschreck... but what he SHOULD do is drop some ammo and pick up the weapon instead of running around with alot of ammo he cant use.
lets hope they fix this in a patch...

Just played one of the demo battles in hotseat against my friend, and both my panserschreck teams lost the panzerschreck gunner... and the loader/ammoguy never picked up the panzerschreck even though the gunner was right next to him (both the teams had this).
why allow a unit to become essentially combat ineffective just because the loader wont pick up the weapon?

Hi, i made a couple of soundmods for the CMX1 series long ago, but i recently purchased the Theatre of war series and im thinking of "porting" my soundmod to that, but i really need a list of the different filenumbers and their corresponding weapons.
i know i made a list like that myself long ago, but ive since changed computers twice and upgraded my operating system from 32 to 64 so that file is long gone...
is there any helpful soul out there that happens to have one lying around?

well dudes... all of my soundmods were made up of pilfered sounds from the net (free-source, mods and all that stuff) so feel free to upload any of my stuff...

heh... gave the game to a friend... whom im no longer friends with... we are no longer on a speaking basis and besides... would be kinda camp of me to go over there demanding to get things back that i gave to him when we were friends...
and im not buying a new game since there were too many things that bugged me (pun intended) with the game... i dont know if theyve been fixed, but i kinda doubt it...

well kinda...
got myself a shiny new computer...
but i dont have combat mission shock force any more... and i wont be buying it again...
so no more soundmods from me...
however, if there is need for it, i could probarbly make one without the actual game... since it would only involve adding sounds for the marines expansion, i would only need to know the names of the soundfiles and what they represent in-game...
so holler if you need a soundmod update...

did you just critizise a mod without trying it?
ive had no problems using it... sometimes a sound or two goes away, but thats just cause my soundcard is crap so it wont play too many sounds at the same time...
but the sounds work fine...

ok, so im playing the early russian campaigns... and im constantly getting my butt kicked even tho ive got T-34's against panzer 2 (yeah i do meet better panzers, but the 2's are the ones that usually knock out my T-34's before they even see the other tanks)
i thought the T-34 was a little better than that!
is sloped armor not counted in this game or what?

ok, so im uploading whats done of my mod to CMMODS right now...
i might work on it a bit more, since ive started playing TOW again... but im not sure i can be bothered...
anyway... its up, but there is no readme... just extract the .rar file to your main Theatre of War folder and it should work (it should make a folder called samples or if there is one just let it overwrite it)

the game probarbly just accounts for accuracy over different ranges and ignores the rate of fire hence making even the lowly carbine better than the tommy and the soldier leaves it (unless he is only armed with a pistol and theres nothing else available)
