    That's awesome!

This community has been very helpful to me, it's gratifying to finally be able to return that.

Okay so I loaded a fresh copy  of RT and ran the 1.03 installer. I got the message that all installations were successful, but when I opened RT the first screen was still showing 1.00. In the documents folder there is a v103 ReadMe text, so I don't know what to think about all this.

And trying to write a novel into the process does not speed up things up. You guys need to be more thoughtful about what you ask for.

But doesn't it require at least a brief pulse from an LRF to establish the target's position? Help me out here, I am struggling to make up for two decades of reduced attention to modern war making.

In that time frame only the US possessed nukes, they only had a handful, and they were all earmarked for strategic use. It's doubtful that any would have shown up on the battlefield. I think it was only in the mid-'50s that the US began making serious moves to produce a tactical nuclear arsenal.

'Deguello'. You can hear it here starting about 0:56. You may find it suitably stirring. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSOwWDEtkh0

Really doesn't sound much like 'Malagueña' at all.

I predict that BFC is sticking with x2 for the foreseeable future (i.e., the next year at least). x3 might make its debut in a couple of years. Or not. x4 strikes me as so far over the horizon as to be outside the realm of reasonable speculation.

Of course, the intrusion of the unexpected could knock all of that into a cocked hat, but it's my best guess.

    The Thirteenth Minute

1st MRC - continues to move through the gullies to setup their AT screen and OP/LP positions... the Counter-Attack (CA) Force is in position just behind the AT screen and ready to react to any potential enemy movements.  The rest of the company is either setting up in depth to defend this terrain or are starting to move toward the Power Station to start building the Assault Company.

2nd MRC - the T90s that were supporting the two BMPs and infantry hunting the US Scout Platoon have pulled out to start their trek to the Power Station.  The BMPs, with their infantry screen in front begin to hunt forward looking for the US units.  Two things spotted at the end of this turn.. the platoon leader team, and another SA-13.. this last was spotted by BMP-3 #1 and it was taking aim as the turn ended.

The more I think about it the more nervous I get about staying on center hill with this company.  The mortars Scott fired last turn, hitting my infantry teams really brought this home to me.. I need to move most of them forward into the gullies, clear them and take up positions from which I can attack any US reinforcements.. this will also mean that Scott will have to deal with them in close.. it'll be like the Battle of the Washboard at NTC (look it up).

The positions in green marked 1, 2, and 3 are the supposed positions the US Scout Platoon could be in.  I know there was one HMMWV and team in #1, might still be there... I also know there were a couple more HMMWVs in position #2, I haven't seen them leave, so they might still be there.. if I missed their withdrawal then they should be in position 3.  With the Platoon HQ in position 2, its probable that the other teams are still here as well.

The following image shows what I suspect could be the entry positions for the US reinforcements.. As soon as I identify where they are coming in, I will then give you my analysis on what I suspect they might do.. so we'll revisit this image then.

The Pocket - Tunguska #2 moved forward, fired up one of my unmanned TIgrs (destroying it) then started moving quickly back toward the town moving right by one of my recon teams (which does not have an RPG).  Tunguska #1 turned up in an overwatch position overlooking the river... hmmm.. this might give me an opportunity.  No other activity was noted.. oh, my artillery is still falling despite losing my observer last turn.

Update on this... I just did a test and the BMP-3 takes the high wall down in 2 or 3 shots.  So I have my way in.

My supporting fire, other than my aircraft will be spent by the time I come to grips with the Ukrainians in the town.  I don't know what condition they are in, but they must be pretty beat up after 11 minutes of artillery fire... my priority targets are any enemy vehicles and any ATGM or RPG teams I can identify.. I don't need to kill all the Ukrainian infantry to accomplish my main task (eliminate this enemy force as a threat), thus I shouldn't need to go "house to house" except to clear the objectives.  My number one philosophy is to NOT fight the battle that my opponent is best suited for so I will be avoiding any house clearing if possible.

Why on earth would we want to score points with you? Can they be redeemed for desirable merchandise? Not a chance in hell. What merchant in his right mind is going to trade desirable goods for PisserMike points? This doesn't even rise to the level of a bad joke.

I didn't find this especially credible. It may have been intended as part of a Soviet disinformation campaign but was never released. For instance, as has been known for decades the reason the Egyptian army did not advance beyond its original bridgehead was that to do so would have put them beyond SAM coverage and exposed them to the very efficient Israeli airforce. Proof of which came when they did in fact try a further advance late in the war in an attempt to reduce pressure on the beleaguered Syrians.

If not out and out disinformation, this paper is the result of the wildest speculation.

It's his last resort, that. And given the OPEC decisions on production lately, a lever that's getting shorter by the week. Beeb are reporting that the massive interest rate hike by the Russian central bank has done little beyond persuade currency traders that the Rouble really is junk, along with all RF government bonds. The wheels appear to be coming off.

Just riffing of what Steve said about financial predictions: it is often said by bankers that they need to offer generous remuneration to attract the "brightest and best" to their particular banking centre (the City of London, f'r'ex), and yet they don't seem to notice that the very same bonus package will equally attract the greediest and most willing to deal unethically to get profits. I'd contend that the historical reward model for careers in finance is better at the latter temptation than the former, as shown by the number of scandals in the banking sector (LIBOR, PPI, junk derivative products etc et endlessly cetera) compared to the success of the sector in predicting and dealing with problems before they get out of hand...

    ChrisND,

I've looked all over, to include my Profile (what's up with the bizarre Reputation rating?), but I can't find a way to get to my PMs, which are now just north of the 90% mark and require some action by me. It used to be trivial to get to them, but I'm baffled. Am I simply not noticing an icon, or what? Goodness knows I've looked.
