Thats from the World of Guns Site (Russian) about the PPSch41: My oppinion about the MP40 in comparsion: Its not the designed überweapon, but it fits all needs and you can equip all branches without drawbacks with it (Fallschirmjaegers, Tankers, Supporting Units..ect.). As a "normal" Foot Soldier, you cant choose the environment where you have to fight...in Towns, Woods, in the open...ect. the best Weapon is the one who makes the best in all conditions.... For me, the PPSch...and Thompson are Weapons between MPs and Assault Riffels.... The Greesgun and MP40 are more the PDWs they are intended for.

@redwolf Are you sure?? Hardly to belive, that a HEAT "Round" will go thrue two sides of a Tank. Maybe we mean two different things. Also the 7mm Hole looks to me a bit small vor a HEAT impact.

I read some days ago about an incident in Iraq, that a Abrahams was pennetrated by a unidentified Weapon. They sayed, that a Hole from 7mm was made on the entry (they didnt mention the side of the tank) and the Bullet or whatever did exit on the other side of the tank. Did someone have further information? An elektromagnetic Weapon "Railgun" comes to mind....but even the USA did not field such a Weapon....maybe the Chinese tested something new in Iraq?

Seems, the US 76mm with wolfram/tungsten ammo does not need to worry about to engage a KTiger frontaly.... it would easy defeat the Turret front from 0-700 meter. Also, the Performance with tungsten is nearly the same like from the 75/L70... does this mean the US Ammo was better in this case?

What does me more anoys beside the slavic "Untermenschen" behavior...is, that my Panthers need 20 rounds (on longer Distances) to hit those for- and backward cowardycing T-Somethings, where it can hit and kill normaly with 3-4 rounds if it stay still on one place. What does me too wonder, that those WWII Tanks start from 0-40 like a Ferrari....and with the real turning radius from the different tanks, the game would look a lot more different.

My vote goes to the JPanther....( but i miss those two stripes Indianapolis Race colors) and of course, the scariest Thing on a Battlefield is the JTiger.

What does wondering me is the relativ low energie loss. The pennetrating stats dropped only from 500-1000m 12mm to 17mm 1000-2000m. I was beliving the kinetik energie will drop mutch faster if the target is farther away. Or did you forgot the 1500m stat? Also its hard to belive, the difference between 0-500 (loss is 11mm) and 500 to 1000m (loss is 12mm) is only 1mm. Btw. its interessting to know how long it takes for the sherman to get penetration stats on targets 2000 meters away? with two trucks of ammo?

So, do we have to change those CDV castrations from Waffengrenadiere into Affengrenadiere...? Ape Soldiers from Planet Earth...

Didnt the 17 pounder used solid-shot ammo to reach this performance?

Hi Lorrin, isnt it be more helpfull, if we would know the brinnell hardness of the testing Plates? The differences for the 88/L56 Tank gun are astonishing high....maybe they used different Plates, maybe also in the size? Wasnt there a thread before, with the meaning, a targeting Plate from lets say 2x2 meters is in the center less ressistant than a 50x50cm one? If i understand it right, you suggest, the German testings are more right than the english ones...? I dont know the circumstances both or other countries conduct her tests, but doesnt they whereupon respect also weather/wind conditions? A strong head wind will blow off your estimatings especialy on longer ranges. Whats with barrel wearing...maybe the Brits used strong weared barrels and the german new ones...as to say.." fresh from the Factory"? Does this made differences too? Maybe you can lighten this up... Nice Pictures Scharfschütze! Do you own those items? I like the way the germs equip her automatic weapons with optical devices. Its mostly contrair to the overall opinnion high muzzle velocity = low accuracy.

With APDS, this is expected, isn't it. What isn't modelled (or is it?) is that you can't hit a thing (even, perhaps, the ground) at that range with APDS. </font>

Dont forget the "now" "ueber"-76,2mm over 220mm with tungsten/wolfram I wonder, why they started to build Pershings. 6 pounders are abel to kill TigersI out to 1000 meters... The Bar with the same firepower under 40 meters like the real MP`s.... I hade a good feeling with cmbo, then with cmbb...but now.. Same with quad .50 cal. if i shoot with at infs. i can expect, that the grunts are imediatly dead. If i try this with a quad flak 20mm with a higher fire rate and he bursters...this will took 1-2 rounds or more. Five years later and all guns are able to knock out ISIII.

@patrocles Can you imagine how it feels to sit at night in a tank in enemy territory? I would run...faster than anyone before me...

In some RTS-Games this idea is well done..but how do you implement it in a round based game? Someone is faster in deploying...and giving orders...the others have to wait..till the last man is ready...this can be real boring.

My opinnion on the Bar: 1. To clumbsy for infight action compared to MP`s 2. to heavy for accurate long range aiming from the shoulder. But better than no automatic riffel!

Isnt this one of the oldest threads ever on this forum? I can find only one point in favor for the .50 cal. compared to other Mgs, and this is the pennetration power. Modern infantrie (beginning in wwII) should be flexible under any conditions, thats the goal. Try to haul a .50er in mud or snow around, good luck.. Not to mention when you have to retreat from your position. Additional, you are mostly well exposed if you dont have made preparations like for guns. Also, you cant really aim for your target like a light mg, you have to "lead" your bullets to the target. Mens who hear a firing gun will drop to the ground...and if you cant hit with the first rounds, you will lost the advantage especialy in an ambush. IMO, a .50 cal. isnt really a economical way against soft targets.

Hmmm... maybe the 20mm Guns make the difference!?

Do we play the same game? three hits in 2100 meters? not to mention the area.... Yesterday, one of my panthers missed a sherman three times in the range from around 400 meters and it was a crack crew.
