  1. I found "Come and See" at both Virgin Megastore and Barnes & Noble (Union Square, Manhattan). I would also suggest a German film called "Die Bruke" (The Bridge) from the '50's if you are looking to find "realistic" portrayals of war. I really wish that there were a great film from a soldier's POV about the Eastern Front.
  2. I actually would. Particularly if it were coupled with a SPWAW Mega Campaign type thingamajig. I am really looking forward to see if the new CMBB terrain "Regions" will include different building tiles and the like. I think that having a set of more historical buildings (though other terrains might bebefit as well) would only add to the explorations of how particular battles were different from each other. I just can't stand the abstraction of having the tractor factory be, say, 3 tiles large. Specificity has it's place.
  3. Tom, I am definately interested in seeing what this mod encompasses. I am trying to make a few acuarate (as possible) urban maps for CMBO, and I think that the mod would be just the ticket. Put it out, I am sure it is going to be something great given your fine work in the past.
  4. Thanks Russell. I am really glad to have some feedback, and I will fix it up a bit tonight. Michael-I'll send it your way right after I do some fix it (you too, Russell). I have sent it over to the Scenario Depot (to Keith's email), not sure if it is up yet...
  5. I agree with all the comments on the 3D that matters, the realism factor, the wego, the under the hood goodness-and I would like to add: -The easiest to use scenario editor that is out there amongst all the WW2 games available. The map editor is absolutely the best thing since baked kugel. This has given this game an endless life as far as I am concerned, and a great community that keeps on cranking out amazing work. -The ability to modify the visual look and feel of the graphics. I bet that it is almost getting to the point that no two CMBO gamer's graphics look alike.
  6. No problem, A.K. I really appreciate being able to contribute to your esteemed site. I filled out all the info, and I can actually see the map listed, but the link is not activated yet. I am sending you a zipped copy tonight, as something might have gone odd since I have both Mac/PC, and sometimes people have probs with one or the other. Many thanks.
  7. Rat, I registered (and this checks out as I am listed as a "Member"), but the upload function is locked. When I go to "add files" it cuts to an "access denied" screen. Any ideas on how to go about putting the files up? Did I miss a step? I may add a few Kustrin to Seelow scenarios (using Poles as Russians and "Lend Lease" tanks)I did a while back as well, if you don't mind...
  8. I checked out the site and "joined up". Frankly. I don't think that it is a lot of trouble for those that are interested in something to go about asking for it-as I said, I had sent the map that I had made over to the Scen Depot for posting. As I discovered it has not been put up yet by Admiral Keth, I appreciate your offer for the storage, but I have to admit I find your tone a bit curt for an area that is for people to post whatever they see fit.
  9. Funny, I thought that was what the Scenario Depot was for... Anyway, I will send it on over.
  10. russellmz, I sent it to your email. I haven't seen the map posted yet on the Scenario Depot page. Do I need to give them a link, or does it just take a while to have it posted. Anyone who wants it, just drop me a line.
  11. I have posted my map of central Berlin to the Scenario Depot. It should be posted soon as Admiral Keth puts it up, God love 'im. It is a vey large map depicting the area around the Tiergarten, including all of the main bldngs (Reichstag, Bberg gate etc), as well as the Zoo and Flak Towers. Good for a few what if Western Allies tried to take the city battles before CMBB takes us to the real deal. Let me know what you think in yer reviews.
  12. Any word on what is to be hardcoded (ie. 'shrek+zooks in CMBO) in CMBB? I am wondering about the building interiors in particular-it would be great to have bldng. interior mods as well as the nice coats of paint to the outside. It would also add quite a bit of atmosphere to urban fighting. Anyone seen what the inside of the new bldngs look like at the CMBB git tigithers?
  13. I sent the map to the Scenario Depot, thanks for the replies. I ended up shifting the elevation based upon what I could find from photographs from the ground c. 1910. For the other areas, I guessed-until I can fill in the gaps. When it gets out there I appreciate any comments-I want it to be as correct as possible. I will do a battle/bomb damaged version this week, then on to something else. An interesting map link I came across in my search: http://www.maps.ethz.ch/map_catalogue-thematic2.html
  14. Thanks, Michael. I will look for it. I will send the map to the scenario depot in the next day or two. I have left all buildings intact, I will maybe do another bomb/battle damaged map later. I envision the map as being amenable to being parceled into more manageable sections for those that want to use it for smaller battles-or for those crazy enough to try it, a large scale battle. It would be great as well for Mike T&Co.'s Frontovik mod (for those that cannot wait for CMBB). I would also like to try to make a Caen map if I can find good enough maps. This map making is a great OCD outlet...
  15. I am done with a huge map of central Berlin, but I need a guide to elevations. I have used Ryan's "The Last Battle" and a great pre WW1 book of photographs of the city as reference. Anyone know of a good source for a detailed map of the city? I will post it to whoever wants it. I thought it would be good to get this out pre-CMBB, so someone who wants to do a Western Allies version of the final battle can. It is a beast, though-from Charlottenburg to the Friedrikstrasse W to E, and from the Spree to below the Zoo N-S.
  16. Give CMBB a bump up on the poll at MGO. For those of you that might not have seen this site, it is an invaluable source for great links and wargame info. Link to poll: http://www.militarygameronline.com/insidemgo/modules.php?name=Surveys&pollID=13
  17. Unfortunately that church will only let you occupy the 1st floor, since GI Combat only models 1 floor bldngs. (no matter what their graphical representation). I am probably going to try the GI Combat demo out, because of their Close Combat pedigree. The CC series was the first computer wargames I found after being a board wargamer throughout my teens and twenties. All tactical level wargames owe that series a nod for their utilization of a morale model in a computer game. However-Whenever I check the BB for GIC , I am struck by the differences between BTS and their forums. I find myself spending very little time looking over the posts there when I am looking for interesting topics or engaging discussion. That says something to me about the target audience, in a very subtle way. I hope that realism isn't sacrificed in GIC for mass apeall, there is enough of that Sudden Strike stuff out there to fill that gap. Anyway, a real time game at this level may be an interesting way to do it. I'm open to trying it. ...But ahm gettin buried with my BTS product when my numbers up...
  18. Nice work, Wreck. I also need to sit down and look at everything, but you seem to have made a good system for a campaign vs. the AI, something I have been looking forward to. Looks like I have something to work on this weekend, thanks.
  19. My attitude is Gratitude. An' that's no platitude...er, dude. What a great risk you guys took to be the small company that whupped all the big ones by making something GREAT. CMBO obviously comes from people that are interested in what they are trying to emulate, and thus it is pure art. A true thing of beauty, this CMBO. A GIANT vertebre popping HUG!!!
  20. I know there are some mods of equipment used in the assualt, but has anyone done a scenario/op yet?
  21. "See - CMBB should have "famous building" models in it. Reichstag, Brest Litovsk Citadel, the Grain Elevator..." Excellent idea, Mr. Dorosh. I floated an idea for "blank tile" building a ways back, and my prayers were answered as far as the factory buildings in CMBB. One hopes that these have a higher tolarence for punishment than the heavy bldngs in CMBB. I would love it if these buildings you mentioned could be modelled (I know, extra time and all...)-onion domes etc would really add to the terrain features, and the particular problems of Eastern front combat.
  22. Ah, thank you Scipio. I liked it, it just caught me off guard! Thanks for all the great work, it really livens the entire experience up.
  23. I was recently playing "Late War-Solume", and one of my units kept eliciting a lunatic laughter. I have been downloading a few replacement sound effects, but I check every one against the original WAV to see if it is a better sound. I don't remember anything like this. Have I just not heard it, or does it mean that someone has gone berzerker? Wie getz?
