  1. I think Steve mentioned a while ago that the XO is the PSG, just not called that (GUI template, I suppose?) Great screenshots. Can't wait to call a TOT from an FA brigade someday.
  2. ATI has always had problems in most of my games. OFP had to make major changes to its code for it. I'm now Nvidia all the way. A lot more reliable.
  3. There was talk about the Bradley being updated with a 30/35/40mm gun like the Europeans have, but the higher ROF and the gobs of 25mm ammo the Bradley could cary was still preferred over the larger weapons.
  4. The 2D view would be a HUGE help - especially with all the satellite photos we have access to. Some of the more high res stuff had just enough detail for CM style maps.
  5. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The Army is more interested in fighting tomorrows war with no casualties instead of today's war with fewer casualties.
  6. There are very rudimentary 3D views. Shouldn't tax even a ten year old video card.
  7. Still kinda hokey, but you gotta like the production values. http://video.boeing.com:8080/asx_external/events/vanguards_103106.asx
  8. From SCG Incident Report: LINE 1 - TIME OF REPORT: 21 NOV, 0950hrs (EST Local) 1450hrs (GMT) LINE 2 - UNIT / ORGANIZATION: Lebanese Phalange Party Leadership (anti-Syrian Parliamentary Majority in Lebanon) LINE 3 - TYPE OF INCIDENT: Assassination LINE 4 - TIME OF INCIDENT: 1300 GMT 21 NOV 2006 LINE 5 - LOCATION: Jdeideh, a Christian neighborhood on the northern edge of Beirut, Lebanon LINE 6 - CASUALTIES: 1 killed LINE 7 - NARRATIVE: Prominent anti-Syrian Christian politician Pierre Gemayel was assassinated while standing outside of his vehicle in the Christian neighborhood of Jdeideh, a suburb on the northern edge of Beirut on Tuesday. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. LINE 8 - ADDITIONAL OBSERVATIONS: Saad Hariri, leader of the anti-Syrian parliamentary majority, broke off a televised news conference after hearing that Gemayel had been shot. LINE 9 - ASSESSMENT: Gemayel, the minister of industry and son of former President Amin Gemayel, was a supporter of the anti-Syrian parliamentary majority, which is locked in a power struggle with pro-Syrian factions led by Hezbollah. He was named for his grandfather, who founded the Phalange Party in 1936 to exert Christian power in Lebanon. It dominated Christian politics for decades after Lebanon's independence from France in 1943. During the civil war, the Phalange had the largest Christian militia that fought Muslim forces and Palestinian guerrillas. The death of the senior Pierre Gemayel in 1983, the shrinking Christian community and internal dissent have seriously weakened the party, which could not get its own leader elected to parliament in 2000. Amin Gemayel served as Lebanon's president from 1982 to 1988. He was elected by parliament after the assassination of his brother, Bashir, who was chosen president but was killed a few days before he was to take office. LINE 10 - ADVISORY: SCG advises clients to avoid unnecessary travel to the affected area. LINE 11 - REPORT NUMBER: OCONUS LEB 21112006- 0024 --------- So you've got six pro-Syrian Hezballah ministers resigned and one anti-Syrian minister assasinated and somethink like 8000 UN troops in country. Sounds like CMSF may have to bump the Marines from the first module in favor of Euro forces.
  9. I remember reading in that RPG handbook that wind affected the RPGs way more than I would have thought. I don't know how much the LAW or M136 are affected - I'm under the impression that the RPG is more adversely affected by wind that the American weapons. Also, don't forget that pH doesn't equal pK. A lot of RPGs have hit and penetrated armored vehicles but have done no appreciable damage inside.
  10. Are you sure about that? The RPK is still widely used by the Russians. As far as I can tell, there are only 2 PKMs in a Russian motor rifle battalion, which belong to the mortar battery.
  11. One thing I remember about my training with the Brits is that they had 6 GPMGs in an MG Platoon at Battalion level - I don't think they had them at the company or platoon level. The GPMGs were specifically for sustained plunging fire and other types of uses that I was never trained for as a platoon-level M60 gunner. IIRC the GPMGs didn't even have buttstocks, just triggers and tripods.
  12. I vote for option 1. Allows a little more flexibility for the Syrian player to position his key leader.
  13. I think it looks more like Armed Assault. Looking forward to it!
  14. I love the pics of the dogs. Half of my pics from Kuwait are of the dogs we had with us.
  15. I think each Stryker brigade has/will have a HIMARS battery.
  16. There is no debate. I might very well be wrong.
  17. Maybe I'm losing my memory, but doesn't the 50cal eject its rounds downward?
  18. RRs basically fire shaped charge rounds with a little more velocity on them compared to RPGs, right? I'd venture to think that a 73 or 82mm RR round wouldn't be very effective against the cages, right?
  19. The red cross symbol over the dead/wounded soldier - how does that work in the game? I know we talked at length about casualties and IIRC one of the ideas brought up was that maybe we'd have X amount of time to move a medic to the position of the casualty to simulate evacuating him. Is that what we're seeing?
  20. What a bunch of horsecrap. I've heard every emotional, unreasonable, illogical, and down right asinine argument for PBEM in addition to all the reasonable ones. The answer to all of them is the same: We want PBEM in. The only reason why it won't go in is if it is technically impossible. </font>
  21. I don't like the idea that me, a single player gamer, has some features of games held back because of concerns about PBEM cheating. I get the idea that without those concerns, there would be a chance that the CM series would be more open to modding. Maybe that's unfounded, maybe its unfair, but its the impression I've developed from being a CMer since '99. And its not limited to CM - there are other games I've played where concerns about multiplayer cheating have often adversely affected the single player experience.
  22. Oh, you know what it might be? I think the 172nd is due to be reflagged as a brigade of the 25th ID.
