  1. I *think* that both those graphics issues will be fixed inthe forthcoming patch. I dont think they are related to the install issue you had. What I need is for you to tell how many files are in your BMP and WAV folders. Madmatt
  2. Guys please do me a favor and tell me how many files are in your BMP folder and also you WAV folder. I am trying to determine if when this error occurs all the textures and sounds are being installed or not. Thanks! Madmatt
  3. Scipio, please email me a setup file. I want to look into this. Thanks! Madmatt
  4. Actually, if you were missing any sounds or bmps the game would crash IIRC. I think the Pak 37 always being yellow is a bug that is going to be fixed in the forthcoming v1.01 but I am not 100% sure. Let me emphasise that for European customers that got the game through retail or CDV's website they will need to get tech support from them and not here. I will still *try* and help but CDV should be your primary resource for support since they are responsible for the European PC versions and their giving technical support to their own customers is part of the deal we have with them. 5. I know you said PBEM always worked before but this really sounds more like an MIME email issue to me. Have him zip up the file and THEN send it to you. If it works then your email is probably trying to unencrypt the file attachement and corrupting it. I have gotten several PBEMS files today from the German game versions and have had no problems opening any of the files. Madmatt [ September 23, 2002, 01:39 PM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  6. Hot on heels of the CMBB release comes the latest update to CMMOS and a fresh batch of new supported mods. Gordon plans on next working up a fully CMBB comptable version of CMMOS soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that one! Here is what this latest batch of goodies has to offer: CMMOS v3.02.002 release. The first step in the migration to support both CM:BO mods and CM:BB mods with a single program. CMMOS v4.00 will be available shortly after CM:BB is released and will offer full support for CM:BB mods, but more on that when the time comes. Due to the size of this release, all of the RuleSet packages have been updated and should be downloaded and installed. Allied Vehicles: Andrew Fox's M26 Pershing mod, Marco Bergman's full M10,M36, Wolverine, Achilles mod with tons of options, Gordon Molek's camouflaged version of Marco Bergman's M10, M36 Wolverine, Achilles mod, and Gordon Molek's camouflaged version of Andrew Fox's M26 Pershing mod. Buildings: Tanksalot's newest "small" buildings. Trees: Tanksalot's latest trees. German Vehicles: The compleat Pz IV, Pz V and Hetzer mod collections,Gordon Molek's JagdTiger mods (bi-color, hasty, mono-color and tri-color versions (summer and winter), Gordon Molek's s.SS Pz.Abt. 501 (Ardennes)Pz VIB mods (regular and snow-covered), JMC's grey Opel truck, John Tucker's JgdPz IV and StuG mods, KwazyDog's Jagdtiger, Makjager's whitewashed JgdPz V, Pz VIE (in bi-color green, bi-color brown and tri-color versions), Gordon Molek's whitewashed version of Makjager's Pz VIE,StrontiumDog's JgdPz V, Tools4fools' Pz VG (late), and mchlstrt's "grimy" JgdPz VI. Field and Stream Total Conversions: Old Dog's Autumn and Winter compilations. The Sheltering Sky: A compilation of all of the existing sky mods, featuring the work of Gunslinger, Jager, Magua, SurleyB, Tanksalot and Tiger. Miscellaneous: A new "hidden" unidentified unit marker mod, Vexillography(national flags for use as victory objective markers), and Faces of Fear, a unit portrait mod, all by Philippe. The Hills Are Alive: New songs including "Don't let's be beastly to the Germans", "I'll never smile again", "Luftwaffe marsch", "Regimental pipes", a new version of "Till we meet again", and "White cliffs of Dover". 7. The problem is that I dont think its a matter of a single step. Its more like requireing a totally new PBEM system which is not something we will do until we fully re-write the game engine. Madmatt
  8. Parabellum, I understand all of that, but its the same system that has been in use for over two years in CMBO now and there are dozens of ladders and tournys that go on without this being a major issue. We can not protect all players from disreputable players. We do what we can though and are always looking at improvements but I am not sure what else can be done with the setup file and I know for a fact Charles has looked into this very issue several times in the past determing that the current implementation is about the best way. Madmatt
  9. UPDATE: Working on the other password issue reported above and I think I see something. Not sure if its a German version to English version or Mac to PC PBEM bug but whatever it is we will find it and fix it. Once the dismembered brain in the jar that is Charles awakens I am sure he will get it squared away quickly. Madmatt
  10. Its not a bug Parabellum. There is no way we can password protect a file that your opponent hasnt had the chance to look at or issue a password FOR yet. As I said, this is the same as in CMBO. Its just the way the game works. Any other method would add at least yet another step to the PBEM process. I agree, it IS a way to cheat, so dont do it and play people who you can trust. Even if someone does cheat and see's your force makeup, they still do not know WHERE you will position your troops or how you will use them. 11. I have not been able to replicate this issue but please MAKE SURE your opponents are using passwords. Many of the beta testers got into the habit of not using passwords while testing as it was easier for us to check reported issues. Both your opponents were testers. Ask them if they used passwords or not. Now with the first issue (setup file) there is nothing really we can do. When you send that setup file to your opponent it is awaiting an initial password from him so anything you type (including just hitting enter) will be the new password if you mistakenly open it youself. You could cheat this way and see all your opponents units, but its always been like that. I ran a test where I played myself in a PBEM and each side had unique passwords. I could not open up either sides files without the correct password. If you see something different then email me directly and we can test this further. What language versions are you guys all using by the way? I wonder if mixed language versions (each player on a different version) could be screwing something up? Madmatt
  12. As its still not even 9am EST I doubt you will hear much for another 4 or 5 hours still. By the way, none of this will help you come to a better understanding of UPS, we dont use them. We use the USPS (United States Postal Service). Madmatt
  13. I like it. But then...my opinion may be skewed slightly. Madmatt
  14. By and large, most of what is said above is correct. Due to space and time constraints there are some vehicle units in the game that either use a shared model, shared texture or both. With regards to sounds I was pretty much able to do all that I had planned. I may slip in some replacement/improved sounds for a few items now and then though in future patches. We are already working on the v1.01 patch that will update several models and textures and believe it or not there ARE some bugs that slipped through which are getting fixed as well. We are not ready to release a estimated time for the patch just yet. It really depends on if any new issues are reported in the next week or so. Sometime later this week I will be posting a list of what we have already worked on with the v1.01 patch though. I do not know what our plan is for incorporating future patches into the shipping CD's at a later date. If we can fit them I would imagine we will do so down the road once we issue a new CD pressing, if not then subsequent patches will have to be downloaded from the website. 15. And if your going off topic you might as well go off forum. This post has ONE purpose. To let European CDV customers know that if they want a printed manual they now have the option to purchase one dirctly from us. Thats it. Madmatt
  16. Truth be told, while *I* thought it was cool the rest of BFC didnt seem to think it was neccesary. Now here are other technical reasons it wasnt done: There is a VRAM issue to consider if it were to be a toggle that could come on and off you would need to double all the textures pre-loaded as each and every tile would need two versions, grid and non-grid. That includes, snow as well. There is a space issue to consider. There is no room on the CD for a second grided set of textures. There is the appeal issue. To be honest, while its a cool mod, not as many people as you might think really use it. There is a need issue. The terrain in CMBB was designed to not only look pretty but to make terrain elevation deviation more apparent. And the last but not least, I think we are about out of hotkey combos to even use! 17. No, that is not permitted. It is copyrighted material and as such can not be freely distributed like that. Madmatt
  18. Three people have now reported this issue to me either here or in email, but I need to get some data clarified. Which version are these CMBB CD's? Mac or PC and BFC or CDV? I think since its a WinRar installer your all on the PC version. I also need detailed specs on the systems you are installing from including CD type and manufactorer. Also, have any of you tried to install on a different computer and is it still failing there as well? If CDV versions, which language are they in? Also, if these are CDV versions then you will also need to contact their Tech/Customer Support for help although I will continue to work with you to get the issue resolved. 19. Thats for Gordon to answer, not I. Madmatt
  20. Where was that offer LAST week when I was in Germany?!? Sheesh, I never get no respect... Madmatt
  21. Ahem, Actually your email arrived to me at 1:38pm and I answered at 1:43pm. Thats FIVE minutes, not 15...Please make note of that in the future. Madmatt
  22. Due to a recent change in European retail requirements, the printed manual included with the European version of Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin, distributed by CDV, contains fewer pages than the version which ships from the Battlefront.com website. The manual's size is limited by the restriction that it must fit into a DVD box, the new European standard for retail software packaging. The pages which could not fit into the printed manual are included on the CD-ROM in PDF format. Neither Battlefront nor CDV is happy about this arrangement, but it is required of us by retail locations so they can maximize their shelf space through exclusive use of DVD boxes for all new game releases. We regret that it must be this way and wish to extend an option for those of you who feel that a full-sized printed manual is a "must have". Although it is not a perfect solution, we are offering to sell a copy of the full-sized, 266-page English language manual to any CDV customer who wishes it. All we ask in return is that our costs be reimbursed. DETAILS AND INSTRUCTIONS You must follow the instructions fully and in the correct order! Failure to do so could delay your manual shipment by several weeks! 1. Place an order online for the Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin Replacement Manual (English Language). Your credit card will be instantly charged $10 ($3 for the manual plus the shipping and handling charge of $7 for Europe). 2.
