Yep, contemporary tactical-level combat...life is sweet. Yep, contemporary tactical-level combat...life is sweet. err, didn't I just say that?

Hmmm wonder if world opinion will be modelled?
-
Heh. I was going to use the point of the Japanese using unexploded bombs as IEDs during WW2, but I wanted something a little more recent.

That's not capitilisation at all. That is the shape of the modern battlefield even as far back as, yes, Vietnam and probably further. If one's going to 'model' the modern battlefield at the tactical level, than maybe you just have to include those elements in. btw IIRC, HPS Sim's Point of Attack 2 already includes IED and suicide bombers.

One of my most favorite sites for studying modern tactical combat is the Armor Magazine home site. The articles (available through the drop down on the left hand side frame) discuss and analyse mainly US armored combat in a modern environment. In particular, there is plenty about combat in Iraq (and thus may be relevant for Syria as well).

and 'comfort' companies. -
How'd that go, Rob? First thing I thought of when CMSF and it's setting was announced was running a campaign using DA at the higher end and linking it back with CMSF for the tactical outcome. btw are your papers really public domain? I wouldn't mind having a read (besides I can do it at work by saying I'm doing 'research' ) PS still waiting for that SB Pro demo

OOOOH An Aussie mod. Must go pester JRCar about this.

Well duh! Don't forget Battlefront is a business first. Besides, it gets Battlefront access to material that they may not otherwise have access to, and probably ends up subsidising the player edition as well.

Ummm.. maybe it's because he has every right to make comment about it as much as any one else? It's Speedy's choice of whether or not he want to buy something, no one else can make him buy it. Of course, I won't be able to whip his butt like I normally do if he doesn't get the second release, but hey these things happen. [ October 08, 2005, 04:57 PM: Message edited by: Mace ]

I'd love to see Aussies included with a later add-on (since we've been fairly active in the Middle East of late), especially the SASR and it's Long Range Patrol Vehicle. It'd be quite satisfying to have LRPVs going at it with Syrian technicals. Boom! Kapow!!! Ratatatatatatat! ...oh sorry. Got carried away here. -
Didn't I warn you lot he was padding his count?

I'd like to see that too, a list of available on map and off map assets/weapon systems. -

Add Point of Attack 2 (which after quite a lot of patches isn't bad) and Decisive Action (which is more modern combat at an operational level). Hmmm wonder if we can set up a Syrian campaign using Decisive Action at a higher level, and CM:SF at the tactical? -
I think contempory is as equally if not more challenging that WW2 tactical combat. Hence I am really looking forward to both titles! w00ty w00t w00t!!!

It's the borgward B IV, an armored vehicle designed for the delivery of a demolition package mounted on the front of it. Read more about it here (about half way down) -
