An interesting looking piece of armour for the Grogs
Elmar Bijlsma replied to Hans's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
What amazes me is that if I read it right it's only a 75mm gun. Looks bigger then that, I would have though 105mm atleast. -
CMx2 bones a plenty (renamed)
Elmar Bijlsma replied to Panzer76's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
Woohoo, a campaign system, excellent! It was IMHO the biggest shortcoming of CM, the bigger picture to place units you know and love in. Good to hear that us banging on about it on the forum wasn't in vain. With that in mind... how about those Crusader AAs? Crusader AAs, the new Bren Tripod. -
While you'll have to do without some vehicles like the Cromwell, Challenger , Comet, Pershing, Jackson Chafee, Puma and King Tiger you'll get a vast array of vehicles in return, most notably cruiser tanks, Matildas, Panzer IIIs, assorted Italian rust buckets and a whole host of armoured cars of various nations. I like the selection better then in CMBO. Keep in mind though that infantry combat has been made a bit less 'arcadey'. With a more fragile infantry morale you'll find putting together an infantry assault more fiddly. And arty has been toned down more then they should've, IMHO. Still CMAK is very enjoyable and if you are looking for something to do till CMX2 this will tide you over.

CMx2 bones a plenty (renamed)

Yes, it was Wartime Command but I searched high and low for the original post. I can't remember for sure if I read the original post or Kongs post referring to Moons. I think I read Moons original but not sure now. -

Better insert a 'not' after 'are' in that 4th sentence Steve. -

CMx2 bones a plenty (renamed)

Wow, that sounds great. I was worried you guys would go off and make an excellent game engine for a war/era I wouldn't be interested in. Thanks for the reply, all previous hints did more to muddy the water then clear things up. But go on admit it, you guys LIKE being a tease. -
How about including a CMBO battle? The infantry model is too different to get used to again but an all armour battle would be sweet. Can you say: Cromwell? Let's make it a ROW farewell to the complete CMX1 trilogy.

I'm a bit baffled why there is still this hush-hush around CMX2. Normally this is to avoid competitors to catch on. But given that the 'competition' still cries in fear of coming up with something similar to CMBO I don't get it. No screenies, no confirmation which freaking century it's in! My best guess is that they are waiting for the press to get rid of the holiday season backlog of reporting to gain maximum exposure for their announcements. Or just maybe BFC are printing out all the requests for a bone and hanging them up on their walls for their amusement?  -
Game/Sim Mechanics in CMAK vs CMBB?
Elmar Bijlsma replied to Canuckgd's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
The only real difference is dust. Dust thrown up by vehicles on the AIs side of the map means you get to prepare an ambush. Dust on your side of the map means you are going to catch the AI completely unawares. It does not 'see' dust. Also, when in trouble backing your vehicle into it's own dust cloud, however feeble, is a way to safety. And then there is kicking up dust with vehicles (or arty) to screen advancing troops. -
What do we want in the new CM game, Part Deux!
Elmar Bijlsma replied to MrSpkr's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
Time for this old chesnut again: Seperate scaling for vehicles and infantry. I generally prefer playing with my infantry at +3/+4 so as not to be too fiddely finding out who's who and doing what. But I absolutely detest my vehicles going beyond +2. -
*new mod* Panther G winterised

Can't get it to show up in the old fashioned 'dumping it in the BMP folder'. I can only view 62946, 62953, 62954 with MS paint and XP preview thingie, every other BMP won't open. Two downloads. Hmmm. I'd like to hear from people who've had this one working please. Not that looking at the Lucky Strike summer skins is a burden I can't put up with. -
Looking for designer of "Worthington Force"

Oooh, do I feel a re-make coming up? Nice one to do it with. -
Actually closer to 4.3mm IIRC. Michael </font>

BB=airgun pellet (5.5mm?) The commander IS horrid though I don't think too much of the grey camo either. You should consider repainting it if you are even remotely good at modelling. Such a cool toy deserves a pretty coat. You say it turns? That's always been a hot debating point here. Does it turn too slow?

Fantasticly done RawRecruit. The cartoon style was spot on. Keep 'em coming.

Change the time to around the Sicilian landings. There are Paras available then. Select the units you want and change back the date to the period you want and they are still there. Good luck!

The moral of this story is, ofcourse, that no matter how beta the graphics are, showing them will not get in the way of it becoming a beaut game. So... how's CMX2 coming along?
-
How about a blast from the past? While looking for a BFC banner to hoist in Fiefdom I came across this. Can we expect this line of graphical improvement to continue with CMX2?

Holy fu*CRACKLE* Hehe, nice. Very nice.
