  1. You select a unit by clicking on it - it should then have a glowing coloured base. You can select related units by double clicking on the any unit - it should then highlight others in it's platoon etc. Then it's have a look at the manual time Cheers fur noo George
  2. I'm playing out one of the battles in the campaign now in RT. Must admit the camera works OK for me. I do find myself doing the angel bit and hovering overhead, only going down to lev 1 to check out terrain and stuff. Camera works fast enough for me - could the camera speed be linked to having the graphics set to high for your rig? Cheers fur noo George
  3. Not the best one to answer, but looks like it's all busy. My understanding is you can install the game on as many machines as you like, but the E-license only let's have the game working on any two machines e.g. your desktop and your laptop. So you could have one at your work desktop, and one at home on your laptop - both working. If I'm wrong someone in the know will come along soon I'm sure Cheers fur noo George
  4. Hi Yskonyn Glad everything looks to be going well. The camera controls takema wee bit of getting used to, but once you do, well you'll find yourself trying to use the mouse wheel to elevate your viewpoint if/when you go to play CMX1! You found out about left clicking on the mouse and holding that down as you move the camera - that pans the view. Other control I found useful was, as I have said the scroll wheel on the mouse. Happy fighting! Cheers fur noo George
  5. Hi Sandy You tried any of the out of the box scenarios? Do they show the same glitches? Also you know that with QBs you need to ensure that there is an AI plan already loaded into that map? Cheers fur noo George
  6. "Troy Says: July 20th, 2007 at 7:15 pm I would think this would have been caught earlier, and I am disappointed this is a 1.02 fix. While I write my review, this will be an issue and I can’t pretend it’s not." He is still wrong Cheers fur noo George
  7. AI stuff has been fixed - but mind the behaviours of the strategic AI is set by the designer, the TacAI is in-game. All these things are coded, therefore even if they are the core of the game they are adjustable, not some fixed on stone sort of thing. Cheers fur noo George
  8. These guys are playing a BETA version which is about more than two weeks old now i.e. it was WIP. A lot of the stuff discussed has been fixed since then. Take it from me - it plays out fine Cheers fur noo George
  9. From what I've seen if they take hits they lose leaves etc. I've not deliberately targeted a tree to see if I can KO it. Must admit there are other targets more deserving of my ammo Only two days to go and you can shoot up as many trees as you like - or BMPs, T-72s, Abrams, Strykers et al Cheers fur noo George
  10. I know some training scenarios were done - not sure due to time pressures etc whether they have/will make the game. I assume they will do. Everyone is pretty busy doing last minute stuff hence the lack of response to your question. Guess you'll find out for sure, if not before on the 27th Cheers fur noo George
  11. You must be a visionary I'm currently having my arse wiped across the battlefield by a load of milita mech riflemen! They just won't lay down and let my high tech weapons systems drive over em!!! What CMSF does illustrate is that the modern battlefield for infantry is one helluva more lethal place compared to sixty odd years ago. Top tip - don't rush Cheers fur noo george
  12. Hi Guys What you are missing is that in WEGO mode you are effectively seeing the game played out in RT. You can then either replay the 'video' or go onto plot your next turn. RT is just that. So the end result is that regardless of what game style you chosse - RT or WEGO the actual combat results will be the same. Hev/ You are right playing in RT does result in a differant pace of game for the player. You tend to move more slowly as you need time to react to developments. I must admit I pretty much play RT all the time now, as I like the immdeciacy and immersion factor it brings. Other Beta testers preferred WEGO. As Sergei says each to their own. I guess as PCs become more powerful scenarios will become bigger. When I can play battalion level actions in CMSF guess I'll go to WEGO! But for the size of avearge scenario in CMSF currently it is possible to play either WEGO or RT. Takes yer pick Cheers fur noo George
  13. Hi Melnibone You can play the scenarios either in WEGO or RT. The scenario designer does not have to specify which game play style to use. HOWEVER, if you want the game playable against the AI from either side (regradless of game style i.e. RT or WEGO) you will have to create AI plans for whatever or both sides. No AI plans means it is only playable H2H as the AI controlled enemy will just sit still. FWIW WEGO works well for larger size comabt formations e.g. company and above, although I must admit it's kinda hectic controlling a large comabt team in RT. Becomes rather stressful when stuff starts burning. You can pause the game though to get your breath. In 'veteran' mode you can also pause and issue orders - sort of a half way house between WEGO and RT. Must admit I'm into playing at 'elite' level with all the spotting and command issues it brings. Each to their own. In a week you'll be trying this out yourself Cheers fur noo George Mc
  14. Because they can? Cheers fur noo George
  15. Hi JohnO Yes they do. Each of their vehicles has their particular quirks as to what they bog down in most. One thing that seems to be bad news for all is 'mud'. If you want to recreate the sitaution seen in the book 'Ambush Alley' (worth reading by the way) just have your M1 Abrams dash across a section of mud. Suddenly your mega-death mega bucks machine is just an armoured pilbox Don't ask me about % or chances of what getting stuck where. I just drive em Cheers fur noo George
  16. Hi Pinetree No you can't load say a JPEG shot of a map then trace over it. Given the average scale of a map and the average size of a currently useable CMSF map you would'nt have much to trace around anyways In saying that I based several maps on real world terrain although I worked from aerial views (Google earth) and 1:100 000 scale maps. Still with the new elevation tool you can build contour levels far easier than you could with CMX1 - you literally 'paint' or 'draw' the contour lines much as you would sketch out a contour map. Hope that makes sense? Cheers fur noo George
  17. Hi AdamL Perhaps one reason for having all these AT rifles is to cause the attacking German panzers to button up. That would make spotting the dug-in AT guns harder. Also as one poster metioned above, with that storm of steel projectiles you are bound to damage at least the vision blocks (I mind reading an account of one of the panzers in leibstandarte at Kursk having to pull out of action due to damage to the vision blocks). Any tank commander becoming frustrated at the lack of view risks having his head blown off when he unbuttons to take a wee look... Cheers fur noo George
  18. Hi Also we were using a version that had de-bug stuff running in the background which I reckon slowed it down a bit. Otherwise my PC played all the scenarios with no problems - again on mid-range settings. As Mace says even with mid-range settings it's still a fine looking game - especially when you get down to level 1 Cheers fur noo George
  19. Giant Killer Badgers Or will they be in the British Army module? Come on I must know! How realistic wil the game be if we don't have Giant Killer Badgers!!   Cheers fur noo George
  20. No wonder the Highlands has such a crap road safety record - people placing Tigers in the middle of busy roads  Cheers fur noo George Mc
  21. You'll just have to wait and play the scenario when the game comes out to find out what really happened Cheers fur noo George
  22. That's a view of some of the fighting in one of the scenarios called "Attack in Brandenburg". It's pretty full on Cheers fur noo George ps that's got a big map
  23. Hi Guys You have to mind the screenshots you are seeing are from a build now over three months old. Lot's of the in-game art has changed Cheers fur noo George
  24. That's very good news! Can visibility be reduced to a smaller value, like 1500m? CM got this feature, Shift+W as I recall. That way you can play bigger maps on slower video cards. The LOS checks will still use the CPU though. </font>
