  1. Missed most of this thread earlier, partly because I'm getting to the stage where the griping is becoming to sound a tad tiresome, and I must admit I can’t be bothered with dealing with the same old same old – especially as most of the gripes have been answered. Anyways Cheers from the guys who posted earlier for the comments relating to Hammertime. Many thanks Huntarr for the Honourary Devil Pup award! I’m deeply honou…er honoured J Thanks Webwing for your feedback on my scenarios. I must admit I don't design around any perceived 'bugs', glitches or anything like that in the game. I build the type of scenario I am interested in using the game as is (although I am beta testing I use the version 1.04 to build scenarios - found out the hard way with an earlier version of "Hammertime" not to mix your Beta and general release versions...). Most of the time I am using situations I’ve read about both in current or recent actions, but also WWII. The stuff I've released recently comes from two main sources. “Hammertime” is based on a map idea from one of the posters here – I think it might have been a chap called Bradley Dick – where he described having to drive along bermed roads and elevated tracks so I thought Ah Ha! "Hammertime" came from that. I wanted a rural type landscape so there we go J The other recent scenario “Rescue” is based loosely on actions that the Brits were involved in around Al Amarah (you might recognises this name as I designed a scenario that was released with the game called this based on some other stuff from the same sources), plus stuff I read about on some US blogs relating to Stryker units in action. Thanks again for the feedback. Oh and in response to thewood’s question about the number of downloads for “Hammertime” – everytime you revise a scenario the download counter at CMMODs resets. So before it’s current version the other versions were running at 200+ to 700, now it’s at 1275 downloads with version 4. Cumulative downloads would put it at over 2000 I reckon. Cheers fur noo George
  2. Looks like this could be a graphics card issue?
  3. Play Blue Vs Red AI; H2H; there is one AI plan Red Vs Blue AI but it does not play out all that well. Background Our Regimental Combat Team (RCT) main effort is engaged in clearing operations to the north of AR RIBAT. In the past week enemy fighters supported by combatants have been stepping up ambushes on our convoys travelling along Highway 5. The SBCT battalion S2 states that there is a hard core of around 40 experienced and well-armed Chechen fighters co-ordinating this activity. At 0645Hrs this morning the Battalion CP received a radio message from Timberwolf (SBCT Battalion CO) that the supply convoy he had been travelling with had been attacked by an IED. This attack had been followed up by heavy and sustained small arms, MG and RPG fire from the surrounding buildings. Currently Timberwolf is now in defence positions in a small farm 100m NE of Blue 3 on Highway 5. 1st Platoon (2 rifle teams and 3 Strykers), designated as the Quick Reaction Force (QRF), has been tasked to immediately make contact with Timberwolf at their position at Blue 3. They are enroute heading north up Highway 5... Grab it HERE! As always feedback, comments ect most welcome. Cheers fur noo George
  4. I'm working on one Rollstoy - just RL is keeping me busy right now. I hope to have it done for early next week JohnO, MickeyD and aka_tom are testing it for me right now. Cheers fur noo George
  5. I have thought about :)Nice of you to say how much you enjoy all the stuff. Charlie and I would need to redesign the home page, but that's not a problem. At the moment the problem is time or lack of it! Busy with CMSF and the CMBB scenarios. I'll be around sometime during the XMas holidays - so I'll get onto it then I think. We are just putting the finishing touches to the last few Strachwitz scenarios and currently debating what our next series for CMBB will be... Cheers fur noo George ps CMSF is worth getting I reckon
  6. Hi Mirabelle Thanks for posting your comments - I'll echo Handihoc's request for keeping us posted I'm equally as interested as to how this plays out H2H. Whilst I am here A BIG THANK YOU to all those who have posted comments for the scenario over at CMMODs. Cheers fur noo George
  7. Guess the film "Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?" Answers on a postcard please.
  8. Check out "Tank Rider" by Evgeni Bessonov a superb account of being a Soviet, err tank rider Also "T34" by Drebkin (spelling?) which has a collection of combat accounts from Soviet tankies. Cheers fur noo George
  9. Hi Mate! Yup I must admit I really enjoy working with the editor - it's far more involved than in CMX1 but it does allow you to produce more realistic looking terrain. The briefings thing is odd, but guess like the CMX1 once oyu get the hnag it's nae bother. I just save the txt file, insert my text then delete the headings, and insert the txt file into the scenario. I like the inclusion of maps (although we did lobby for larger maps, graphics overlays etc just it all came down to the issue of coding and time etc). I guess it does make it more challenging to pruduce scenarios but I think in time people will get the hang of it (many already appear to have done so given the quality of scenarios being uploaded to CMMODS). It might be that the involved nature of the editor might keep it in the realm of those with a scenario design bent but we'll see. Cheers fur noo George
  10. Play around with the direction arrows at the top left of the editor screen - that should change the orientation of the tiles. Cheers fur noo George
  11. Hi Yoss! Thanks for the comments - I'll double check the AI plan for Blue. It could be that you have the Blue infantry pinned down so they refuse to continue with their plan. I've noticed that happens. But I'll double check it to make sure. Or could be you killed all the Blue infantry Cheers fur noo George
  12. sounds like you selected the grunts to move rather than their vehicles. Check the icon you select. I've done the same myself a few times and wondered why my infantry were running to their detahs whilst their vehciles sat still... Doh! Cheers fur noo George
  13. It's a load of non- historical poo - read it whilst researching Operation Peiper and it does not stack up with any accounts written by vets (both sides) or Peiper himself. That aisde it's a reasonable fictional read in the line of Sven Hassel stuff. Cheers fur noo George
  14. Hi Guys Sorry to cause confusion. I was caught out by the chnage to make Syrian arty support more realistic (only FOOS can call it in). So the chnage is to give the Syrians a FOO. I guess it'll make a differenc just it won't make things any easier for the US player. I'm not sure how good the AI is at calling in artillery... I suspect it won't spoil your enjoyment of wherever you are at in current games Cheers fur noo George
  15. Just updated this to version 4 - small Syrian OOB change and set-up zones. These chnages only really have an impact in H2H play. Cheers fur noo George
  16. Hi Guys He! He! I must admit I've played it through lot's myself. The US player can get into town, what you do there is another story. Possible Spoilers # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # Handihoc I suspect you are right, that in H2H this might well prove beyond the US player. Still we'll see. I reckon indiscriminate use of artillery fire could win the day Think WW1 Barrages...
  17. Another cool thing. Just played through an action where rounds from a 30mm BMP cannon were impacting in a marshy area - you could hear the splash and suck of the rounds hitting the bog - brilliant!
  18. Yup Like it Another great looking wee mod Pat Cheers fur noo George
  19. I still play and design scenarios for CMBB. Partly cos I have an interest in the Eastern Front, and also because I still enjoy CMBB. I like playing larger actions company plus on large maps. CMX2 allows me to play smaller more detailed actions which I also enjoy. I enjoy the more detailed game play and realsitic terrain, modelling etc. Guess I have the best of both worlds right now Cheers fur noo George
  20. Before jumping to conclusions maybe some more info as to the situation might help work out whether this is a bug or an intended action? What game version? Scenario or QB? If scenario which one? Location of ATGM team? Distance to target? Then we can have some facts to work out what is going on Cheers fur noo George
  21. Hi Ricochet67 Thanks for that. Glad you found it such a challenge! Good luck for your next attack Cheers fur noo George
  22. Silesia, Dawn 25th January 1945: General Rybalko’s 3rd Guards Tank Army has turned 90 degrees to the south and cut off German forces fleeing from the disaster at the Vistula. Nothing seems to stand in his way to breach the last major defense line left to the Wehrmacht—the Oder River south of the Silesian capital of Oppeln. Elements of his 9th Mechanized Corps have already overrun a majestic estate. It is Strachwitz’ ancestral home, Groß Stein. The German High Command desperately scrambles to send forces to hold—or blow-- the key bridge at the Oder river town of Krappitz. Strachwitz , still recuperating from a terrible vehicle accident in the fall, has risen from his hospital bed on crutches and assembled a force of volunteers. This is the final scenario in The Panzer Counts Ostfront CMBB series. Map size: 2.9Km x 3Km Total points combined: Approx 11000 combined. Authors: George McEwan and Charlie Meconis Designer’s note: we describe this scenario as “semi-historical” because there is very little solid detailed information on the operations of Strachwitz’s last command in Silesia during the chaotic final months of the war. We have chosen a carefully researched actual battle setting—the fight for Krappitz, Silesia—as a plausible and interesting setting for this last battle in our Strachwitz series Two versions available for testing over at TPG: AI H2H Comments most welcome
