I've found that focusing on the tactical plan and small unit tactics rather than hit or bogging chances plus keeping an eye on my platoons rather than getting involved with individuals means I'm not as concerned about the 'detail' i.e. who is KOd in a section etc. By 'zooming' out in this way I enjoy the game and find that it is very immersive. In effect I tend to operate as the combat group/kampfgruppe commander only occasionally getting involved in the minutia. My advice would be players adapt their play style and rather than trying to play the game engine play the game. Get it?

Hi Gerry Yeah the plan would be to do similar themed packs. I'm not sure how many of the actions would transpose to CMX2 mostly beacuse of the greater fidelity in the new engine - although I'd certainly give them a go Main advantage is a lot of the research has been done although more research material from the Russian side is coming to the fore so be fun to go back through them and update. I must admit my main interest is Eastern Front will certainly be covering more actions from that theatre. Chery! George Mc

That people who play ladder games want balance (see the current CMBN thread about players seeking balance in scenarios for H2H play)? It's harder to get that in CMSF scenarios due to the nature of the fighting and the units? Many people play against the AI only (in fact and point of fact more people play against the AI than play H2H: source BFC themselves) so I'm sure that plenty people are still playing CMSF. I've got a scenario that is a CMSF one and it's had over 2000 downloads and still going strong (gets about two or downloads a day). So someone is playing it

It's a very large scenario that pushes most PCs to their knees. FWIW it runs just fine on mine (been playing it today). I can save files, reload em etc. No FPS issues even when lot's of fighting going on. My PC is a pretty run of the mill machine. I believe the whole OOM issue is being looked into so it might help some folks. Just worth bearing in mind some PCs just don't have the oomph to run very large scenarios.

...and you base this odd statement on what?

Great to hear ya back in the virtual world again

Yeah version 2 has a tweak to one of the US AI Plans - that's it. Otherwise it's the same scenario. Despite the title this is playable as Germans against the US AI. Although I have a German AI Plan in it given the situation in this scenario it's asking a lot of the German AI to do a credible attack. So it's there more for interest. Where this should be really fun is H2H. The Germans ahve the tougher fight so the better player would be worth taking the Germans. All feedback much appreciated.

From one account I just read a tank crew were offerred the pick of a farmer's daughters as thanks for being liberated. So guess any fram building would do the job. Question is will we get the animations? Oh jeez... that's a whole new sub level for the peng thread I guess... <mind bleach>

Resupply tanks with ammo?
George MC replied to BadgerDog's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
What HTs are these? You can't load vehicles up with specific ammo types in the editor. Sure they are not towing vehicles for AT guns? -
Dead horses - so I can flog em to

Eh! When?

Fractricide has been in since the game first appeared. It's the HE stuff to watch out for. I've had several sections of Brit infantry mowed down by their own Warriors. They dismounted then charged up a berm just as the Warriors ID some Syrians lurking in a building. The unlucky Brits ran at full tilt into a stream of lead... So moral of the story is take care with your arcs of fire especially from the HE chuckers

Help me out with Mods Please
George MC replied to dcbryan1's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=98199 All you need to know .cam files are indeed campaign files. .btt are scenario files. Actial mods i.e. new skins can be both brz or bmp files - they go into a Z folder you create and stick in your game data folder. Best read the link above though for the full details of this process. -
Thank you

Ah I see. Makes sense. Still no castle on the hill as the map (based on real terrain) and scenario are set on the Estern Front

With Carbide Carbide I think one contributing factor is players misreading the US brief. If playing as the US double check the brief. Makes a huge difference to how you structure your plan. Keen to hear how this goes - as GAJ has mentioned there has been debate about it

Errmm... why?

Another shot of the same Panzer IVs same scenario. I'm using Aris's latest excellent weathered PzIV mod.

Panzer IVs advancing through a wheat field. Screenie taken from a scenario I'm busy working on and which uses a cutdown and reworked section of the 'Fire Brigade' scenario map.
