  1. I never wanted the POW ribbon either.
  2. Was that expensive? </font>
  3. I think you still fired the RG from the shoulder but I know they were also fired up like a mortar. Have you ever noticed that 2in seems to be the generic penetration for HEAT grenades? It seemed like every time we had some sort of small HEAT they always told us that it would penetrate 2in of armor.
  4. I like campaigns. I will play battles sometimes but I usually like the epic feel of operations. Hopefully some of the quirks of the old system will be worked out.
  5. I'll probably end up buying it for Christmas, maybe a little sooner if my student loans leave me with any extra. Then I'll order it from BFC. I prefer to have my own disks rather than download.
  6. The military routinely contracts different companies to make the same components. I put paks from several different companies into my 113, it just depended on what came in the box.
  7. Looks more like a primative version of the Predator shoulder laser. Hope he doesn't have that self destruct thing on his wrist.
  8. Have they changed the way ammo is carried on the LBE? When I got out guys would have been reaching for their chest for a spare mag as that is where they were with the LBV. Have they gone back to pouches on the waist?
  9. Welcome back bud. Thanks. Moon, Do the M1's sound different in the distance? From more than a couple hundred meters all you can here is the turbine. Closer, especially on soft ground, you can hardly hear anything except track noises.
  10. We got to use it when I was OPFOR in Hohenfels when the Rangers stopped by to play. It should be more widely used. MOUT is the worst case scenario so training in it benefits everything else. Moving under fire when you actually appreciate not getting hit is always a good thing to learn.
  11. Tracks are still pretty noisy, especially if they have any wear on them. Still M1's to me always sounded like a series of bumps with a background whine. Not quite as squeeky as the ones shown. Even the M60 only really squeeked when it was moving slowly. At speed it is like a rumble. Kind of hard to describe how they sound.
  12. I know, I own several Airsoft weapons. Well my sons do. Neat toys but not very useful. There were several systems that used better sensors and lasers that were housed in the reciever that I got to play around with when I worked for Raytheon but the Army didn't buy them because they didn't want to spend the money to replace the millions of MILES sets. They also had a computer system that basically networked the vehicles and aided in resolving engagements insead of allowing an APC to hid behind a bush.
  13. Range. They have all kinds of small paintball type rounds but they are too worried about people getting boo-boos in training so they don't use them.
  14. They had all kinds of replacement systems for MILES but they decided to spend the money on other things.
  15. Hey Angryson, guess I just didn't notce but welcome back. Glad you're still in one piece and thanks.
  16. Not that kind. Uniforms and harness is about all I saw guys bring back from GW1.
  17. As former OPFOR I totally agree with you. You just can't replicate the civilian side because the entire OPFOR part is scripted. Either BLUEFOR has a chance to succeed or they have no chance you are not dealing with real people with real needs and concerns. Plus you can't really do anything to the OPFOR. The whole situation lacks any real stakes and both sides know it.
  18. To say nothing of the polarizing effects polls often have, especially in a crowd of people who are not particularly polite. (3 in one sentence!)
  19. Nice. Keep your head down there big guy. [ June 20, 2007, 05:31 AM: Message edited by: sgtgoody (esq) ]
  20. Big guns are always fun. Well, unless you are downrange.
