  1. After searching for someway to disable the timelimit or extend it, I found this post and wanted to cast my vote for this as well. Sorry for necroposting, but it would be really great to see this feature.
  2. Also, a simple icon indicating that a unit is involved in HTH would suffice (crossed daggers or a fist with a BLAST icon behind it). The sound FX would be great too of course. But if you're queuing an event to occur such as an icon and a sound file, then inside that event function could also be animations for whatever it is you want your soldier to appear to be doing, even if it's while standing in place. An example would be to do a rifle butt smash animation. I know -- you know already. Keep up the good work BFC.
  3. I don't know why I do, but I come here daily and read about the game. I bought the game about a month ago and haven't installed it yet, waiting for 1.05. It's sitting right next to my keyboard, ready to go. While it does appear that every day someone starts a new thread taunting the devs to speak (or else!) I like that they've remained silent. Truly, their work will speak for itself. Later, when folks are looking for ammunition about why they hate or love the game, they will not be able to use the developers words against them. It's difficult to predict how all the hardwork will be received and with all the drama on these forums lately, I just cannot blame them for staying out of it. I worked in the game industry for 5 years and let me tell you, it's a rollercoaster ride, and that's not including interfacing with customers. At least BFC is working on a game they love and support. I think it will show, just as it has in the past. Patiently waiting in concealed cover...
  4. Rollstoy that reminds me of an excellent book I read earlier this year. If you haven't read it, it's really fascinating: Up Close And Personal: The Reality of Close-quarter Fighting in World War II http://www.amazon.com/Up-Close-Personal-Close-quarter-Fighting/dp/159114907X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1195572471&sr=8-2 "While some authorities maintain that only twenty-five percent of all combat soldiers fired their weapons at the enemy because of the innate human reluctance to take another’s life, and others take the view that soldiers enjoy killing, the author of this book argues that combat is far more complex than either of these statements imply." I realize it's a different setting and a different time, but it's a great read. The things learned from that time are directly represented in how our soldiers are trained and conditioned today.
  5. regarding GSX's comment: It is an idealogical difference. It is NOT understandable to me how someone can kill their fellow countrymen while attacking an enemy. Nothing against you GSX, just my opinion.
  6. During "thunder run" the M1 fires and it looks like a 2d sprite is used to represent muzzle flash. Reminds me of DOOM. Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me. Anyone else see that? My aplogies if this has been covered. I'm new. The more videos the better! Keep em coming. Adding videos to youTube is an excellent marketing tactic. Just excellent.
  7. I have zero experience here so I'm not going to pretend. I appreciate everyone's input so far. I thought it was fascinating that such training was happening even if, so far, it's not ideal. I think some of the psychological aspects are very helpful. I wonder if the battery situation was intentional to make training numbers look better/worse. Or perhaps they wanted all soldiers to fire more often. Again, I'm just speculating. Seeing some of the training scenarios made me anxious to play this game. The other videos there are very frenetic. Not knowing anything other than what I saw on the video, I could never pass judgment on how combat effective these guys are.
  8. I found this fascinating and thought it might have some relevance to this game. The video depicts US forces training for deployment in Iraq and Afghanistan. You will notice that everyone, including the noncombatants, are wearing the hit detection vests. Iraqi Combat Simulation (20.2 MB Streaming) 9 min 1 sec Once your at the site, hit the back button link on the page to see more of his videos, if interested. There's one about Stryker teams training as well.
