  1. because they see A vehicle and make no distinction as to condition. Being part of the scenery is your BORG view of the game board. Your pixel men are required to report what they see.
  2. They are seeing the burning enemy vehicles and saying so. This is absolutely the case...You will hear the same thing about knocked out vehicles that are NOT burning as well. You should keep in mind that abandoned vehicles can be re-crewed and if otherwise not damaged, fight again. "I have seen the same thing consistently when bunkers are about, even though no vehicles are in the game." Same thing Bunkers read Vehicle to the game
  3. I feel your pain, old friend! Many a saved last turn, rarely a major vic
  4. Flaw, no. Fundamental, surely. Would I like to pick my troops...you bet.
  5. There are only 3 PC games that every really mattered to me. 1. Panzer General still have it still play it. 2. Steel Panthers (all versions but SPWAW is the top of the heap) 3. CM. Of those three and the desert Island offers me only one...CMAK hands down (also I'm taking the White Album with me!)
  6. Quell the noise? No, I don't really think that was the impetus. Not that the noise wasn't there. Not that the noise wasn't justifiable (also over the top, Rude, and often childish). What drove BFC to work around the clock on the first set of patches was a desire to get the game on track. I doubt many would agree that BFC would have just sat on their hands if the game had been met with stony silence. Just look at their history. CMBO was met with universal acclaim...(except for the FPS "click Festers",CC RT people and a pretty large group of my SP brethren who all condemned it daily for months) Yet BFC patched it several times. Remember, too, that this game was out as a Demo several months before the release and had tons of player input yet still had flaws, bugs, and missing features. No, BFC didn't work their tails off because of any noise. They did so because that's the way they are.
  7. It certainly would be a time saver. I just never can figure how you mesh the editor and an outside map source
  8. Hi Harry: Really glad you got on board. www.CMMODS.com Has the user maps and scen. For QB's you will NEED to dl the QBG Vol 1 thru 3 It will give you plenty of QB maps for ALL configurations...For a little greenery and a trip down memory lane...DL Chance Encounter. When you're ready to PBEM I'd be pleased to die for you!
  9. My understanding is they had it working, put in a last minute bug fix elsewhere and broke the AT specialist again.
  10. Paper Tiger: You need a place to upload your screen shots...try here: www.photobucket.com Once you have that set in place you'll be able to attach your screen shots on the forum.
  11. The map is terriffic...Glad you went ahead with it. Please make sure to post on the general forum as well as here when you have finished . The larger community is sure to want to see this.
  12. Use the search engine, type in Battlefront.com in the "member" space If you are to find anything on this topic it will be there. Doubtful, however, since what you may be looking for may be proprietary info.
  13. What an OUTSTANDING action step, Web!!! The CM Community is richer for your presence.
  14. Hi Scipio: Six and Web took my point correctly. As you recall in any CMx1 version a Line of vehicles going down a road tended to rear end one another creating a pause and often creating more rear end pauses and mishaps. Although speed was set the same the culprit often had to do with variations in experience levels. This would create longer start to move, slower turning, ect. CM:SF seems to function by correcting pathing automatically thus avoiding the bump pause malady of old. Webring has it right, however. Vehicles will still visually overlap at close quarters. I expect it's lonely being an armored vehicle...why deny a bit of affection.
  15. orwell: You might wish to start with the forum topic: Consolidated CM:SF Topics of Note. You will find it always near the top. Welcome to the forum
  16. 76mm I don't think so...and I certainly hope not. That quote is not Factual. ColumbusGamer runs www.CMMODS.com and all the CM communty owes him a huge debt of gratitude for his tireless efforts to maintain his outstanding site for all CM games.
  17. The editor is much more detailed, certainly. And different from old CM in many ways. Frankly I was somewhat intimidated by the thing. But once I dived in I really loved it. AI editor is the key to the kingdom...and now that I've got the hang of it...well I want them to add more detail....micro manager me... I couldn't agree more that scen design is more complex and labor intensive. For Me the finished product is worth the effort.
  18. It's really OK...I get my 76's confused anyhow. The Syrian hardware actually interest me and I play red a lot...It's like playing US against German hardware...got to really pay attention to tactics. And of course I look forward to WW2 just like so many of us do.
  19. Yep...Goofy...I hope they'll re-vist the editor in the next module. When the dust is settles on V.105 I plan to post a editor wish list. I hope others will do the same.
  20. 76: My pleasure to give it a rest I too think it's a silly argument...Forum activity and what it means. Here's my actual only point. I enjoy playing the game. I talk with others who feel the same...on this forum. I do that when the mood strikes me. I do not come on this forum to pick fights or denigrate members of the CM community. When seemingly every positive comment is pounded on by people who don't like the game, don't play the game, won't bother buying another BFC product, ad nauseum...well that kind of ridicule can only be tolerated so long. So I'll put it out to you this way 1. I liked the game. Liked it right away. 2. The game had a TERRIBLE start and many are justifiable pissed. 3. I'm not one of them 4. I think BFC picked itself up off the mat and got in gear fixing this game. 5. I don't think it has been a waste of their time. 6. It hasn't been a waste of mine. 7. BFC has commented on patch progress right along. Some say that they want or need more complete info. 8. I'm not one of them 9. Some say that v1.05 will decide if the CMx2 engine can be successful or not. 10. I don't REALLY know but I lean that way. 11. Will I continue to play CM:SF...Yes 12. Will I pre-purchase future BFC products...Yes So this should clear up any doubts about my motives when posting. If your views are the same or diametrically different...say so and then we can all move on. In the mean time I'll play and wait for the patch.
  21. 2000 downloads of one scen not enough for you...? Comparing Forum use then and now? I am well aware of how active AND inactive CMx1 forums can be...and I'm always pleased to see the CM community active... But "active" is a VERY relative term. I currently play 3 PBEMs...all with old CMBO friends....Guys for the most part who stopped playing CM anything years ago. They're having fun with this game and so am I. We re-connected with CM:SF. I figure that is active enough for me. But I must repeat 2000 downloads of one scen is nothing to sneeze at...especially with such a troubled game history as this one.
  22. Oh Im sorry, its just that Im used with the activity level of the CMx1 forums... but this is great! </font>
  23. That's the spirit! Don't search for a longer stick to stretch to a drowning man, let him drown! It's his fault for getting in the water in the first place. So Sayeth the Lord, eh? Another fact is this: I can call the cable company, one of the most loathed utilities in the country, and get a human to speak with me every time. There are times when the reality doesn't matter and perception takes over. -dale </font>
