  1. Thanks A co. The more I play the more I realize the AT guns are there more to hold ground that has been taken and not so much as an attack weapon.
  2. Im playing the Scottish Corridor campaign. So far, two missions provide a 6pdr or two as "reinforcements" on an offensive mission. AT guns are not at the top of my list of offensive weapons. I think of them more as a defense weapon. Any tips on how best to employ an AT gun as an offensive weapon?
  3. I've noticed that when I use area fire against buildings my vehicles with HEAT rounds will exhaust the HEAT rounds first before using the HE rounds. I am assuming that the AI views buildings as "armored", to a degree. I ran a quick test with both Allies and Axis armor such as Priest, Sexton, Churchill, Hummel, StuH 42, and the Wesp. I gave an area fire command at the ground in which case only HE was used. After that I gave an area fire command at 3 different buildings (exact same design) for each of the AFVs. All used HEAT on the buildings until the HEAT was gone. Is this as it should be? Because this seems like a big waste to me. I would much prefer to use my HE on buildings and save my HEAT for armor.
  4. Haha! The tension is built up and then a tv commercial break! It's hard to say without actually "being there". Typically a third shot should be spot on. But it depends on visibility and where the first two shot went. Does your Firefly have good visibility to the Panther? Is the LOS unobstructed, as in no trees, smoke or dust in the way? Did the first two rounds land short and end up in front of the Panther or did they both go over the top? Or did one go low and the other go high? If both rounds went low or both rounds went high, chances are the third round will do the same, in my past experience. Particularly at that range. If the German tank commander properly identified the Firefly, he will engage the Firefly first as it is the bigger threat, even though the Sherman III is closer. However, if he does not identify the Firefly first, then the Sherman III will be engaged. If the Panther crew is a good crew with good experience, and if the LOS is clear your Shermans will not last long. If it were me (not knowing all of the facts) it seems your Shermans have the advantage of the first shot and outnumbering the Panther 2 to 1. I would go ahead and take a chance. Even if your Firefly is taken out of the fight, the Sherman III might still be of some use providing cover for you infantry or maybe even get a lucky side shot on that Panther. That's my humble opinion. Good luck with the continuing episode.
  5. Yes. I like this. It looks nicer. And instead of filling the space with all AT warheads or satchels, etc., there is a number. Much more efficient. I like the new (slightly) look too. *Bdum bum, tsssss* He'll be here all night. Dont forget to tip your waitress... Back to work you!
  6. However, there is the new template/overlay feature. It should make map making a snap.
  7. I imagine it was the same sentiment for commanders too.
  8. Screen shot #5 has the an AT gun in the trench. Is that new with Version 2.0 or is that something I've missed?
  9. What!?!?!? No tracer bounce in that list?!?!? I'm disappointed in you Elmar.
  10. All of the above. And of course 180 cover arcs.
  11. Wow! A twofer. Sorry to hear it. A pet can be like losing a family member.
  12. Where is this thread? I've read all the threads on this forum and I have seen nothing about the Rangers TO&E. A search produces nothing either. Im curious. Thanks.
  13. I want to hear a US trooper from the Bronx say "EYETALIANS!".
  14. To get it right, yes. Sometimes you might need to go off the board to get the right size. And this can be inconsistent when your unit is close to the edge of the board. Going off the edge throws things out of whack, so to speak. All you need is to hit "Ctrl + (letter of choice)" or "Alt + (letter of choice), and move your cursor to the desired distance and heading for the aim point and then you are done. It is way easier as opposed to clicking the first point, (which may or may not be the right distance you want) and then finding the second point, only to realize that it is not centered where you want it and/or your distance is not enough and then start over (although I am better at it now then I was before). And sometimes you must go to a top/down view to do this. Particularly if you want certain units, such as FO's or HQ's to observe and not shoot. You might want a tiny arc, but you want a 180 arc and not a narrow one, so they will observe as much of the battlefield as possible. Sure you can use a cover arc to get you in the general direction, but it may not be wide enough or long enough. My liking is to have my AFV point in "This direction without the exclusion of all other possible contacts". And the "Face" command does not always cut it. And when on the move it is also much easier just to throw up and 180 arc, particularly for hunt commands or for a series of waypoints. If the lack of letters is a problem, I have no problem sacrificing least used letters and putting them to work.
  15. LOL! If I were drinking milk upon reading that, it would have shot out of my nose.
  16. Not to mention it would also make it easier to "center" your aim. In other words, point the barrel of your AFV in the appropriate area you want all while having a 180 degree arc.
