Grim.Reaper
Just got done playing one of the scenarios. There was a German unit standing in front of some bocage. They weren't firing, so I assume they were out of ammo. They were standing up so also assuming not cowering. I ordered two units to attack this german unit. Both units seemingly get within a few yards of the german unit and basically lay down in front of them. Didn't fire a shot. Both units had grenades and plenty of ammo. There is no doubt they spotted the enemy since they were close and the enemy was visible. Both unit status was fine, not cowering or anything like that. Any reasons as to why they wouldn't destroy that unit, especially since that unit only had 3 guys left?
guachi
They had surrendered?
Grim.Reaper
They had surrendered? Is there a way I would see that? There was nothing that stood out, at least what I could see, but maybe I missed it. Is there some kind of message that flashes?
Pvt. Ryan
They put their arms up in the air as if signalling a touchdown.
Grim.Reaper
They put their arms up in the air as if signalling a touchdown. Although I could be wrong, I did not see them do that in this case. I'll have to keep a better eye out for it the next time I see something like this.
Hiram Sedai
a white flag pops up if anyone surrenders. Also, its best to check what status your squad is showing. They might be rattled or broken. Troops aren't the automatons they were in CMX1. I found they them to be a bit more fragile now and not fond of moving to their deaths.

I did not see any white flags and both my units were in good shape according to their status.....mystery continues
WillLight
The white flag only pops up briefly, it doesn't stay there the whole time to indicate they surrendered. Much like the red cross that floats up a second after a soldier is killed.
Elmar Bijlsma
Actually, the white flag only appears when their surrender is "accepted" by nearby units and the surrendered soldiers disappear off the map. Before that they can spend a few minutes standing in a field with their hands up waiting for this to happen. 99% sure this is what you saw. I'm still not entirely sure what exactly causes the surrender to be accepted. Generally having units overrun the surrendered troops will cause it to happen nearly immediately, but they'll do it after a while if they are overlooked by units from a modest distance. Cool thing is that you'll hear troops shout out a relevant order to troops whose white flag is about to appear.
hoolaman
If you see anything weird like that there is a possibility that you are seeing a bug, please save your game as early on as you can and PM me or another beta tester for an email address to send your save to. But as others have said, check if they have their hands up! They should be unarmed too.
WillLight
Thanks for clarifying that Elmar!

freeeman
I thought the white flagonly popped up only if they where French? ok sic
Battlefront.com
Yeah, haven't seen that sort of problem before Grim.Reaper. Not so say there couldn't have been a glitch there somewhere, but I think it's most likely a surrendered unit and you missed some part of the process. Definitely let us know if you see it again and can verify the behavior in more detail. Steve
Dragotin
I thought the white flagonly popped up only if they where French? ok sic Nope. See Vietnam, Cuba, Lebanon... EDIT: That said, I shouldn't rise to the bait. I know it was meant for a joke, as was my rejoinder. If offense has been given, we shall meet in the bocage for redress, Sir!
Destraex1
would be cool if surrendering units caused your attackers to lose men to guard duty
