Bahger
New computer with 24" monitor, 1920 x 1200 res, I was wondering if anyone else with this set up dials down the res a bit. The visuals are terrific but the menu text is very small. Opinions, anyone? Thanks!
tagge
I'm about to buy a 24" Benq LCD (1920x1200) so opinions on the matter interests me too... How about the text in the editor? Is it still readible?
gibsonm
I'm playing it on an Apple 24" display (at 1920 x 1200). I've also played it connected to my Sony Bravia TV and home theatre system: All readable.

Bahger
Remarkable coincidence, I have the Benq 24-incher, too. After a lot of research it turned out to be the clear winner -- by price and reputation -- and you will not be disappointed, it's a wonderful monitor. Its achilles heel, however, is that its mounting is a little less robust than one would like, which is why I have banned my little children from my office except under strict supervision. Don't get me wrong, it's fine, and can survive 31 laps at Lime Rock Park in iRacing with a force feedback wheel clamped to the same desk, but be careful, its mounting is delicate. As for CMSF @ 1920 x 1200, I'm going to give it a go, it would seem a shame to downgrade. The menu text is small but posibly a good tradeoff for the visuals and perfectly legible. I may have to move a little closer to the screen. Nice pics, Gibsonm! On a related note and FWIW, I'm getting between 35 and 65 FPS in CMSF on my beefy new system with that 24" Benq. Frames seem to fluctuate enormously in CMSF but on my last rig I was lucky to get 25 FPS so I'm looking forward to playing it on a machine that can rise to the challenge.
Sgt Joch
I play on a Dell 27" widescreen at 1920x1200 with no problems whatsoever. The image is sharper and clearer, and the colors are more vibrant than on my previous 22" CRT monitor. My computer, powered by a now 2 year old Intel Core 2 Duo E6750, has no problem handling the game at that res. In fact, I play CMBB at 16xAniso/16xFSAA (8800 GT) and I sometimes forget to dial it down when switching to CMSF, but the FPS is still nice and smooth. One of the best purchases I made in years.
Delta228
I play on a 32 or 36 (cant remember which ) inch Sony Bravia HDTV, and i have to downgrade my resolution just a bit, like you said, because the text is too small. Looks fantastic in game though.

Presumably you have to set AF/AA n your GPU interface, as I do not recall there being such settings in CMSF unless I am mistaken...
Redwolf
A 1920x1200 24" has the same pixel density as a normal monitor. Unless you changed your viewing distance at the same time you must misinterpret the results.
Ricochet67
I, too, was concerned about text size and clarity when I upgraded to a 24" LCD monitor but it's crystal clear and easy to read.
Redwolf
FWIW, here are some popular monitor formats and resolutions, sorted by DPI. As you can see, these 24" have some of the lowest dpi of modern monitors and hence by default the biggest writing with default fonts. If you are one of those dummies who only knows about diameter but not resolution, leave me alone. theFightingSeabee
I don't have the problem... I've got an old school lcd, not even a wide screen.
Kwazydog
Remarkable coincidence, I have the Benq 24-incher, too. After a lot of research it turned out to be the clear winner -- by price and reputation -- and you will not be disappointed, it's a wonderful monitor. I use a couple of these to work on...they are great monitor for a great price. Id like to suggest to anyone buying a monitor for gaming, particually above 22", to make sure they research the 'input lag' of the monitor. This is different to response time and can make a significant impact on game play in action or FPS style games. Dan

Sivodsi
Slight change of topic, but a question for those playing in 5.1: What comes over the centre speaker? I have a 5.1 speaker system, but cannot use the centre, so I'd like to know. If you could be so kind as to try a little experiment I'd be most grateful. Try playing a move with it plugged in. and then with it not plugged in, and see if there is a difference. Looking forward very much to a reply!
Sgt Joch
Presumably you have to set AF/AA n your GPU interface, as I do not recall there being such settings in CMSF unless I am mistaken... yes GPU interface. I usually play CMSF with no FSAA. I find it redundant at 1920x1200.
Lethaface
My samsung 2443bw is doing a good job at 1920x1200 for a very modest price (EUR 250 6 months ago). FPS is good with corei7 and 4870x2. There is still some texture build-up unfortunately, any chance of having that optimized in the future? @Sivodsi, I'm using a 5.1 and although i'm not 100% sure of the center speaker, im sure that the woofer and the four tweeters work fine. Since they are not too far from eachother I'm not fully sure it actually gives sound. Ill check up on the center speaker now and let you know. EDIT: I guess you are right, played ATGM ambush for a few minutes and didnt hear anything from the center speaker.
