carlR
I live in the UK & am thinking about buying the Kalypso retail version. But it does not seem to be at the same state of development as the BFC version. It seems the Kalypso version already has some of the things in the upcoming uberpatch but not all of them. Once the uberpatch is released for the BFC version will there be a kalypso patch that will make it the same as the BFC version?
Madmatt
While we expect Kalypso to at some point release an updated patch, it's up to them to do so, and the timing is at their discretion. Madmatt
Thork
Damn.... OK that statement definitely gets me to try merging... I don't trust in Kalypso and can't take another year waiting...
Stoppelhopser
Thork: let us know your findings. Apart from a few missions I played through TOW and am inclined to try überpatching myself. The german localisation is not that necessary to me.
Madmatt
You cant use our Patch with any other version OTHER than with a version purchased from Battlefront. If you do, the game will stop working as you won't have the same licensing system as we use. Just be patient, all of the other publishers will want to get their respective patches out as soon as they can, and as always, I will work hard to get that done for you guys in any way I can. Stoppelhopser
Oh, I now understand Madmatt. Thanks and I'll be patient. Its just that I have no former experience with Kalypso.
christie_front_drive
Please can you post on here when the Kalypso patch is out!
Madmatt
Of course, we will make announcements when any patch is released, regardless if its for our version or not. madmatt
carlR
Thanks for the replies. I'll wait a week for kalypso to come through with the patch. If they dont then the safest bet is to buy direct from BFC.
RockinHarry
Nice! I have the Kalypso DVD too! Does that mean we have to "purchase" the patch when they decide to release that thing on DVD again in europe?? ..you´d surely rather see my ToW game box at ebay
Sneaksie
I really don't think that Kalypso will do so, why??
carlR
Kalypso seem to be a pretty small distributor. I looked at their UK website yesterday & it said nothing about a patch for TOW.It will be interesting to see if they do support TOW at all... Kitt
BUMP I also have the Kalypso version of TOW. Hope they release a patch soon, otherwise I may as well purchase the Battlefront version.
RockinHarry
According to this german website: http://www.theatreofwar.de/news/ Kalypso media will take about 2-3 weeks to release their uber patch version!
bluescreen2
damn. no other game has this. cant understand this patch policity. why cant battlefrond and kalypso sort this problems out, before patch release. i hate it, that there are some people playing while we have to sit around... christie_front_drive
2 to 3 weeks isn't so bad. some people were predicting never! the patch has to be changed to deal with each version, i am guessing that kind of thing isn't as straight forward as you think. Ortnit
I had a phone call with the kalypso support team. They have no date for the patch. They need 2-3 weeks for localization.
Artie
Don't worry, guys. There in Czech we are waiting for the patch too. TOW was released by 1C (sic!) there in english version, just with the Starforce protection. Mechanically, making the SF protection over the exe files is matter of...uhm... few seconds? And still no patch? But I am not surprised, it is just weird and expected policy. So, patience...
bluescreen2
any news? we are still waiting and want the los tool

Something beyond simple buck-passing would certainly be appreciated. The contrast between BF's attitude to the ToW patch and those for CM:SF is rather glaring. RockinHarry
Still no mentioning of any Kalypso version uber patch! Now is it going to happen or not??? Looks like I throw this crap off in march, if nothing happens...

Madmatt
This game is far from filler but there is little I can do, because of many issues, to really change what and how and even when or if Kaylpso releases the patch. I realize the box has our logo on it, and thats due to all the work we put into helping to make ToW a viable product, but that doesn't change the various business issues that can and do occur when a single game like this has multiple publishers. The last I heard was that Kaylpso was indeed working on releasing the patch and that 1c had made available to them everything they might need to do so. I will see if I can get any updated info on this. Madmatt
1000 yard stare
I just got an update from Kalypso Media support. According to them the überpatch (both English and German) will be released by the end of February. At first they told me that the Battlfront patch was compatible with the English version released by Kalypso so I had to correct them on that :-/ So, let's see what happens at the end of the month...
