Battlefront.com
Hehe! PanzerMike makes another good addition to the analogy. Some of my favorite recordings of ALL TIME, the ones that I play through twice in a row at 3 in the morning while editing TO&E, initially hit me as some of the worst stuff I thought the band had produced to date. Sometimes it takes a few listens to appreciate it, then a few more to realize the greatness of it. Other times it's just "OK" for years, then later you realize it is really some of the best stuff. More current example of a band that dropped out of favor with me... Godsmack. Got their first album when it came out... fantastic. Second album... well, really good but not a lot different. Haven't bought anything since because the songs I heard on the radio sounded just like the ones I already had. But I'm not bitter! I have two great albums and I'll be listening to them for a long time. Steve
thewood
You guys are missing the biggest analogy of them all: The Beatles. Did any other band not only change itself often, but they led the change. That is where I am hoping CMSF is going.

BFCElvis
First 2 or 3 albums usually are good because they are releasing their lifes work at that point. Third is usually the clunker. With Elvis My Aim is True and This Years Model and Armed Forces are brilliant. Then the pedestrian Trust was released. This was followed up by perhaps the greatest and most underrated Imperial Bedroom. Worth a download at .99 per song. After getting into it you'll be offering to send more money.

"Dark side of the moon" I know its probably their most over played album-on the top 20 hit list for at least a couple decades and I've been listening to it since I was a little boy-like when I was 11, probably thats when I got the album- and I could still listen to it and enjoy the entire album along with "Wish you were here", Medal, Animals, its all good that old Floyd stuff. Umma Gumma and the film that go with it are pretty good too.

I do love Roger Waters' Lyrics but the sleep/dream references thoughout put me into a bit of a trance... which can be a good thing when you are an insomniac like me..! Radio KAOS is another Waters lyrical gem, though musically it leaves me wanting a shower.... Four Minutes is a classic example: [billy:] "Four minutes and counting." [Jim:] "O.K." [billy:] "They pressed the button, Jim." [Jim:] "They pressed the button Billy, what button?" [billy:] "The big red one." [Jim:] "You mean THE button?" [billy:] "Goodbye, Jim." [Jim:] "Goodbye! Oh yes This ain't au revoir, it's goodbye! Ha! Ha! This is KAOS It's a beautiful, balmy Southern California summer day It's 80 degrees... I said balmy... I could say bomby Ha! Ha! O.K. I'm Jim and this is Radio KAOS And with only four minutes left to us Let's use this as wisely as possible.... ([Molly:] Everybody got someone they call home) Out at Dodger Stadium It's the bottom of the seventh The Dodgers are leading three to nothing over the Giants And for those of you who are looking to go surfing tomorrow Too bad (Telephone rings) I'm kinda lost in here to tell you the truth O.K., good Ladies and gentlemen If the reports that we are getting are correct This could be it Billy, if you're listening to me Please call now." After a near miss on the plane You swear you'll never fly again After the first kiss when you make up You swear you'll never break up again And when you've just run a red light Sit shaking under the street light You swear to yourself you'll never drink and drive again Sometimes I feel like going home You swear you'll never let things go by again Sometimes I miss the rain and snow And you'll never toe the party line again And when the east wind blows Sometimes I feel like going home [Jim:] "Billy, if you are listening, please call." [Californian Weirdo:] "Sole has no eyes." [Molly:] "Goodbye little spy in the sky They say that cameras don't lie Am I happy Am I sad Am I good Am I bad?" [Jim:] "Billy, if you're listening, please call." [Californian Weirdo:] "Sole has no eyes Sole has no eyes." [billy:] "Ten, nine, eight, seven..." [Margaret Thatcher:] "Our own independent nuclear deterrent Has helped to keep the peace." [billy:] "Six, five four, three..." [Ordinary Person:] "...you've go a job..." [billy:] "Two, one..." [Margaret Thatcher:] "For nearly forty years" [Jim:] "Goodbye Billy."
