Dhul Karnain
Okay, so we know CMSF is quite unique, but are there any other games (set in modern era, not WWII) it can be compared to in some way? I'm new to the genre and now that I've got a taste of Combat Mission, I'd like to sample something similar.
Redwolf
TacOps and BCT/ATF/AATF. Both 2D, though.
thewood
POA2, with all its patching is probably the best, most detailed, most like work simulation out there. You must be a semi masochist to play it. (2D also)

Pascal DI FOLCO
There's WinSPMBT also, a reremade of old Steel Panthers 2, and you can get it free.
undead reindeer cavalry
to me CMSF feels a lot like Operation Flash Point because i mostly play platoon level battles in CMSF. in standard OFP you command only a squad, but there are mods (e.g. Chain of Command) that let you command forces up to a battalion if that's what you want. Armed Assault might be better if you have a more up-to-date computer, but i'm not sure if there are yet any similar mods for ArmA.

Yes I can second that. If you loved the original Steel Panthers, Steel Panthers II and III, WinSP:MBT and WinSP:WW2 are the best Steel Panthers you can get. Quality is unsurpassed and the improvements over the originals are simply amazing. cheers Helge Oh! And I forgot one important point...they are for free! Hop over and check them out: http://www.shrapnelgames.com/SPCamo/wSPMBT/1.htm or http://www.shrapnelgames.com/SPCamo/wSPWW2/1.htm [ September 05, 2007, 04:34 AM: Message edited by: The DesertFox ]

Kwazydog
Guys as many of you know we have always had a policy against advertising other companies games in our forums, whether they are competition for our games or otherwise. As the question has been answered Ill lock this one up.
