Please, someone kill me before I have to leave the hotel room.

Why are you in "Stupidville", Ohio? And why are you only an hour away from me and not buying me drinks?

Today the Australian Football League 2005 Grand Final takes place.

Noba's team is in the grandfinal.

This means if his team wins, he's going to be an insufferable nong bastage (ie much like he is now) who's going to go on and on and on about the victory until the 2006 season.

If his team loses, he's going to wallow in the pits of dispair, and may even go into deep depression and stop posting here.

Join me here in wishing Noba's team a loss, because really we could all do with a good laugh.

This has been a public service notice.

A nice "mate" you turn out to be. I don't give you grief over Geelong bombing out - again. And you wish my team, and moi, ill. Swine. AND you saddle me with that German-ophile idiot !

Perhaps I should take him as Squire. Has he been "serfed" yet ? Come to think of it, does he deserve to be serfed ?

Noba.

OK. He's a serf.

Now let's send him to Coventry.

Then bring him back.

Then make him eat headcheese.

Then send him back to Coventry.

Then make him muck out Yeknod's paddock.

Then back to Coventry.

Then give him really bad indian burns on both arms and an atomic wedgie.

Then if he can actually write something that makes me laugh, and I mean a boffo belly laugh, not just smile quietly to myself, THEN you may take him to squirrel.

Got it?

Stupidville, Crawdads (Cadiz)... do I hear Flatt and Scruggs tuning up their banjoes?

Peng in the wilds of Ohio (But where he is aint that wild unless you can squeal like a pig... or Peng, as we may find out).

So, I have a chance to drive down to West (By Gawd) Virginia North to meet with the inestimable Peng to hob nob and pass judgement (and perhaps water) over the rest of the MBT.

This needs much thought and rumination and... another beer.

The last two weeks are right out, that much I know for certain.

But we shall see. And smell.

Cool. My Liege will love having TWO Australians as part of the House Lineage.

Come back Slapdragon, all is forgiven.

Noba.

Yah, Stupidville did have a bit of a power-reek about it. I liked the bridge into it from WV though - very stylish as suspension bridges go.

I'l be making at least two more trips out there between now and the end of the year, unless I annoy the wrong office lady at the wrong time and get canned before the end of the project when I will get canned for sure.

Poor Noba! *pats Noba on the back for support*

My commiserations for your loss.

Still, as we Geelong supporters say there's always next year.

But that Grand Final 4th quarter was some of the best footy I've ever seen.

Real nail biting stuff.

Yeah, bit of a shame. Good game.

Send me a turn...I want to kick something.

My freezer is hissing, I'm concerned... perhaps I shouldn't have hacked at the ice so hard?

Oh well here is a jolly song...

Stonehenge, where the demons dwell

Where the banshees live and they do live well

Stonehenge

Where a man is a man and the children dance to

the pipes of pan

Stonehenge

Tis a magic place where the moon doth rise

With a dragon's face

Stonehenge

Where the virgins lie

And the prayer of devils fill the midnight sky

And you my love, won't you take my hand

We'll go back in time to that mystic land

Where the dew drops cry and the cats meow

I will take you there

I will show you how

Here's another song... Not so Jolly but just as meaningful...

If you’re not the one then why does my soul feel glad today?

If you’re not the one then why does my hand fit yours this way?

If you are not mine then why does your heart return my call

If you are not mine would I have the strength to stand at all

I never know what the future brings

But I know you are here with me now

We’ll make it through

And I hope you are the one I share my life with

I don’t want to run away but I can’t take it, I don’t understand

If I’m not made for you then why does my heart tell me that I am?

Is there any way that I can stay in your arms?

If I don’t need you then why am I crying on my bed?

If I don’t need you then why does your name resound in my head?

If you’re not for me then why does this distance maim my life?

If you’re not for me then why do I dream of being your wife?

I don’t know why you’re so far away

But I know that this much is true

We’ll make it through

And I hope you are the one I share my life with

And I wish that you could be the one I die with

And I'm praying you’re the one I build my home with

I hope I love you all my life..........

I don’t want to run away but I can’t take it, I don’t understand

If I’m not made for you then why does my heart tell me that I am

Is there any way that I can stay in your arms?

’cause I miss you, body and soul so strong that it takes my breath away

And I breathe you into my heart and pray for the strength to stand today

’cause I love you, whether it’s wrong or right

And though I can’t be with you tonight

know my heart is by your side......

Footie Update:

Another victory for the Fury today... It was a close one, but we hung on at the end and kept the lead at 4-3, with the other team putting on massive amounts of pressure. Or should I say thier RINGER was putting on massive amounts of pressure. She was quite good, but she was trying to win the game all by herself. In contrast to our ringer, who when confronted with a defender passes the ball to a teammate, their ringer thought she could out manhouver the whole team. She did once, actually, but that gets very tiring I suppose.

Madeline played like a champ in goal today, only giving up one and a cheesey one at that. There was a bit of a scrum around the goal and she was trying to get to get at the ball when a striker gave it a mighty wallop and Madge stopped the ball with her face. OUCH. Sort of stunned her a bit, and being a bunch of little girls play sort of stopped, but there was no whistle and the other team recoverd first and put one in while Madge was sort of standing there non-plussed and dazed and everyone else just milling around. I went over to her and that's when the tears started. She came out for an icepack and some TLC from mom while the game went on. She went back in as a mid in the last quarter and played fine.

Natalie had an assist in the second quarter and scored her first goal of the season in the fourth. She came inches away from a second goal on a breakaway. At that point we were up 4-1. And that's when the other team went wild. They scored two goals in quick succession, but my girls held on for the victory.

They are quite a bunch.

Personally I prefer...

If only I could get through this

I get through this

I gotta get through this

I gotta get through this

I gotta make it, make it, make it through

I'm gotta get through this

I gotta get through this

I gotta take my, take my mind off you

Give me just a second and I'll be all right

Surely one more moment couldn't break my heart

Give me 'til tomorrow then I'll be okay

Just another day and then I'll hold you tight

When your love is falling like the rain

I close my eyes and it falls again

When will I get the chance to say I love you

I pretend that you're already mine

Then my heart ain't breaking every time

I look into your eyes

If only I could get through this

If only I could get through this

If only I could get through this

God, gotta help me get through this

I gotta get through this

I gotta get through this

I gotta make it, make it, make it through

Said I'm gotta get through this

I gotta get through this

I gotta take my, take my mind off you

Is this even the same game that I love & cherish (at least every two years when the World cup/European Championship's is on)? I mean what is a quarter? A ringer? Or a breakaway?

Still go Furious!

And a tame bunch at that. I had a couple of fifth grade girls go at it today. Red cards, all around.

Welcome comrades to the first in our continuing series of lectures on the subject of:

What the Hell's a Noba Anyway?

This installment examines the possibility that it refers to ...

Netarhat Old Boys Association

This seems unlikely, not least because it would give credence to the dubious notion that Noba is actually educated, but also because said N.O.B.A. is in India and they CERTAINLY wouldn't let him in.

Tune in for our next installment ... New Orleans Ballet Association ... it's a thigh slapper and no error.

Ah, shaw, there you are.

On my way in I noticed a few drains are actually overflowing. Be a good chappie and see to it; straight away. We can't have the SSN's thinking you don't actually DO anything around here, now, can we ?

Well, apart from you constant pomposity, annoyingly boring travelogues, and your terrible personal hygiene, that is. If it weren't for those "other" foibles of yours, you'd hardly be worth keeping as a pet, now ? Would you.

Do hurry along, time's a-wasting.

Noba.

ps. The tools you want are in the kitchen drawer. Mind you don't drop it, now...

Further research into this mysterious subject has revealed the definitive answer and provides further insight into the comment of Noba himself above ... upon perusal of THIS link ...

NOBA

... one can readily understand his special interest in the state of the drains.

Yep.. good one that...

Here's the one I am listening to right now...

"Wind Beneath My Wings"

Ohhhh, oh, oh, oh, ohhh.

It must have been cold there in my shadow,

to never have sunlight on your face.

You were content to let me shine, that's your way.

You always walked a step behind.

So I was the one with all the glory,

while you were the one with all the strength.

A beautiful face without a name for so long.

A beautiful smile to hide the pain.

you ever know that you're my hero,

and everything I would like to be?

I can fly higher than an eagle,

for you are the wind beneath my wings.

It might have appeared to go unnoticed,

but I've got it all here in my heart.

I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it.

I would be nothing without you.

Did you ever know that you're my hero?

You're everything I wish I could be.

I could fly higher than an eagle,

for you are the wind beneath my wings.

Did I ever tell you you're my hero?

You're everything, everything I wish I could be.

Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle,

for you are the wind beneath my wings,

'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.

Oh, the wind beneath my wings.

You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings.

Fly, fly, fly away. You let me fly so high.

Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.

Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.

Fly, fly, fly high against the sky,

so high I almost touch the sky.

Thank you, thank you,

thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings.
