athlete
Or is there any talk of new CM games?
Michael Emrys
If you will do a search under CMx2 I think you will find the best answers to your question. But in brief, yes. Michael
MikeyD
This game engine is done. They proabably could've squeezed a couple more entertaining titles out of it if only they didn't have to 'reinvent the wheel' with each new title. The new upcoming game engine is supposed to be much more modular, allowing for quicker turn-around. It's also supposed to be quite a bit different from the current engine - less 3-D 'wargame' and more 3-D 'combat sim', which might tun out to be hard for older board wargamers to stomach. If anybody knows for sure, they ain't talkin'. Only time will tell.
athlete
so CMx2 is the next generation? (Note: I'm sorta new to the CM titles)...I thought CMx2 referred to the Combat Missions II: Barbarossa to Berlin title.

gibsonm
Athlete, The common usage (in chronological order) is: CMBO = Combat Mission Beyond Overlord CMBB = Combat Mission Barbarossa to Berlin CMAK = Combat Mission Afrika Korps All of these are built on the first generation game engine (CMx1). CMX2 / CMx2 = the next generation game engine, due out sometime soonish. [ April 21, 2005, 02:35 PM: Message edited by: gibsonm ]
Battlefront.com
The retail releases are CM1, CM2, and CM3. They should not be confused with CMx2, which is just a placeholder name to describe the difference between the old engine (CMx1...CMBO, CMBB, CMAK) and the new one (CMx2... titles yet to be announced). MikeyD
Oh, new CMx2 titles still up in the air? May I make a couple suggestions? CM: The blood flows endlessly CM: So lifelike, when you die in the game... CM: Giant Russian multi-turret tanks, Pershings, and the Maus - all together for no good reason!
