Sarge
tho i still battle regularly.. one in CMBO and the other in CMAK.. and vs AI in CMBB... the question is what's next? since i've not visited the forum, (in a year?)have i missed any announcements of the next version? i remember reading it might be Italy or Scandanavia at one time.. not sure if there is a special FORUM link for 'next'... so pardon me if i'm off target Sarge~
PseudoSimonds
No announcements. If you want to read lots of opinions on what the next game should be do a search on threads beginning with "Why not..." Thoroughly entertaining.
flamingknives
Well, CMAK includes Italy... No official word, but lots of conjecture. See anything referring to CMX2
Michael Dorosh
It would appear BFC has stopped support for the commercial version of Combat Mission and is now concentrating its energies on sales to foreign militaries. Still waiting on word for the latest patch to CMAK; no announcement has been made as to the timing but it would appear BFC has other things on its plate.
MikeyD
BFC has turned into a 6-man international defense contractor! Not been here for awhile? Go check out the growing CMAK mod collection at CMMODS.COM. And I almost forgot. check out the permanent announcement at the top of the list on the new CMAK companion book, and download the fifteen FREE new CMAK scenarios. Great little scenarios, reminds me of playing CMBO in the good old days. [ May 26, 2004, 01:41 PM: Message edited by: MikeyD ]
Sarge
thanks all~! got the new scenarios already spent my book allowance for the year off to CMMODS.... some new faces, but same friendly help.. thanks again!
MikeyD
...Did I mention those fifteen scenarios for downloading are free and no-strings-attached? As to having spent your book allowance, book purchases should be unfettered and unlimited as a point of principle! I figure the ideal way to die is to be 99 years old in your bed, and as you're about to take your last gasp your bookcase overloaded with all souvenirs of a lifetime of reading collapses and falls on top of you. ...okay, my REAL concept of the ideal way to die would be to be crushed by your falling porn collection, but that's a bit off-topic. Michael Emrys
Due to popular demand, the next game in the CM series will be on World War III. On the first turn your screen goes a blinding white and your computer vaporizes your house. Michael

BFC has not stopped support for the commercial version of Combat Mission and is not concentrating its energies on sales to foreign militaries. On the development side, we're heavily involved in making CMX2, the next generation Combat Mission engine. The spinoff of CMAK for the Australian DoD is a breeze from a development point of view. On the publishing side, we have a bunch of new products in the pipeline, some announced (SC2, DIF, MNB), some not (patience...). Regarding the current CM series, CMAK is still fully supported and will be until CMX2 is released. We have a bunch of surprises here up our sleeves as well. We are just not rushing to make a 1.02 patch like Michael Dorosh would like (and apparently still is miffed that his bug thread wasn't made sticky? Come on, Michael...). GreenAsJade
I can't believe that someone took a swipe at the "sale to the foreign military"! Without even a smiley. Shame, Dorosh, shame. That sale was a major win for CM, a boost in every sense. I hope it boosted the coffers, so that there's more money to spend on making good games. I, for one, was tickled pink to read about the "foreign military" sale. (And it just goes to show which militaries have their heads on straight, eh! ) GaJ.

junk2drive
madmatt, as i wrote, if from above or main page, you click products, cmak, websites, you get the cmbb list, most of which are defunct. i try to point forum newbies to the resources link above. it still shows cmbo and cmbb weblinks, but no cmak. not that things have changed much, but a newcomer may be confused.
Moon
Hi Michael - a) is not correct. The book contains mainly the best excerpts from other books which are not available online and for which Tom has specifically licensed the reprint rights. Collecting all those would take you weeks if not months and cost you many hundred $ (if you can find them at all, some might be out of print by now). c) is not correct either. The Australian DoD version is not a major addition to CMAK. If anything, it removes a big part of the commercial game that is not required for what it will be used for. But anyway, thanks for listing our past "surprises". I am not sure what this has to do with the upcoming surprises that I mentioned specifically for CMAK though, or with the work on the CMAK 1.02 patch. None of what has been announced so far has anything to do with this. The work on 1.02 is progressing nicely along the schedule we have set for it, thanks. MikeyD
I'm not sure why M. Dorosh is snippy about the schedule for the upcoming CMAK patch. In a previous post he stated categorically that CM's just a game with no authority to lay claim to being a 'simulation' (Ahem!). If it's just a silly game then why all the urgency to make fixes for historical accuracy?

MikeyD
"Why don't you ask him instead of speaking in the third person like a git?" It was a rhetorical question, smiley face. You know rhetoric, don't you? Truth-be-told, I have no real interest in finding out why you were being snippy.
GreenAsJade
Is that snippy as in scissors or snipey as in sniper rifle? (Spelling nits are always good for lightening up a thread. Or is that lighting up a thread?)
