Der Kuenstler
I'm new to PBEM play - what is the usual (generally accepted) FOW setting you guys use when playing?
Sergei
In PBEM it is considered a good habit to turn FOW off, as it makes it harder to play in a gamey manner.

I am assuming FOW is fog of war, so why would you turn it off?
Sergei
Most opponents require it, as it makes it harder to ensure that your opponent is playing fairly and not cheating. I never use FOW with human opponents.

chiavarm
I use full all the time. I don't how you can tell if some one is cheating by having it off.
Kingfish
The soon to be released 1.04 patch will include two new FOW settings - deceptive and dirty lies.

simovitch
I just heard that the Windows drivers for the ATI cards will soon be recoded to allow fog. Now that is great news!
chiavarm
I feel as though I am missing something? What is the standard use of FOW? It never occured to me to turn it off. If you do turn it off, both sides have it off. right? How can you manuver( note to BFC: incorperate spell check) if you are aware of each other's movments? Half of the fun is the suprise of a unit popping out of nowhere.
