Bruno Weiss
Thanks Tiger. Man, short order mods. Ah, I'll have two Marder's, heavy on the weathering, with a side of SS smocks. Oh, and can I have a winter tree base separate. Hmm, maybe we could set up a "browse" thru mod service while you wait. But thanks Tiger, you mod makers deserve a medal. ------------------ "Gentlemen, you may be sure that of the three courses open to the enemy, he will always choose the fourth." -Field Marshal Count Helmuth von Moltke, (1848-1916) [This message has been edited by Bruno Weiss (edited 01-15-2001).]
TankDawg
Hi Tiger, Having no idea about how mods are made, is it possible to make the rubble 3D? That is, for it to stick up rather than be flat?? ------------------ Jeff Newell TankDawg
Tiger
Nope I'm afraid not. The rubble bmps are flat 2-d surfaces. It would look better if BTS could have made rubble an object rather than a tile. Maybe for CM2. Tiger

Tiger

And Maybe for CM2 we could see at least 4 rubble objects. rubble object 3D for a small light house rubble object 3D for a samll heavy house rubble object 3D for a Large light building rubble object 3D for a Large heavy building rubble for bunkers and pillboxes? rubble for road blocks? Did I miss anything? What else can we turn to rubble? Blowing STUFF up and turning it to rubble is one of the FUN parts of this game! I'm still THRILLED every time I see a catastrophic explosion. MORE EYE CANDY!!!!! All in good fun (and don't forget to throw in the sandbags and trenches ) -tom w

Pvt. Ryan
That's a beautiful rubble texture, but doesn't the game use the same texture for roadblocks? I'm at work now, so I can't check.
Schugger
Pvt.Ryan, you're correct with your guess. Roadblocks look a bit strange now, but I take the deal anyway as the rubble looks beautiful.
Tiger
Rubble_by_Tiger_FIXED What was fixed? That horrible shimmer effect caused by the way transparency is implemented in the game engine. It's going to look squarish, but there's nothing that can be done about it. It's a limitation of the game engine itself. It seems that when the 3-d terrain & tile program gets down to the pixel level, it has a hard time deciding which pixel to use so it shimmers between them. You can also see this effect with the stock barbed wire, ambush markers, and target reference markers. They all shimmer. To relieve my rubble bmp of this problem, I had to get rid of most of the pink transparent areas, which results in less "underlying terrain" spots to show and a more squarish-tile look overall. Really sucks but this is still a much better rubble tile than the stock one. you can continue to use the Rubble by Tiger bmp I released earlier today (above), though you may experience the shimmering effect. Bruno Weiss
A recall? Great shimmering firestones, what's next. Hey, maybe that's what is causing all the rollovers. The tires look round, but in reality their square. Hmm, lemme shee what this one does. Thanks Tiger, and it didn't even take a Congressional investigation to get it fixed. Old Crow
Great work but I don't get that shimmering effect with your first rubble mod. Maybe it has something to with what video card you're using. I use a Hercules Prophet II 64mb.

Bruno Weiss
Glad someone bumped this with a comment. Tiger, like Oldcrow I do not get the shimmer shammer with the original. So maybe he is right that it is a card by card thing. Anyway, just to let you know in case it helps somehow. ------------------ "Gentlemen, you may be sure that of the three courses open to the enemy, he will always choose the fourth." -Field Marshal Count Helmuth von Moltke, (1848-1916)
Tiger
Yeah I supposed that might be it. Oh well. Use the first one if you dont get the shimmer effect, use the second one if you do. Oddly enough if you look at my "rough" bmp, it is shaped much like the first rubble bmp above, and I get no shimmer effect. I'll have to do some more investigation, thanks. Probably just need to change the hue a bit. Tiger
Olle Petersson
Incredible! Only a few hours before I saw this posting I was standing in the shower thinking about doing a rubble texture like this one. Now I don't have to. Thanks Tiger!
