I am interested in why so many people want to replay the Blizkrieg/early years of the war? (Aside from the desire to kick Nazi butt in '40)
Would it not be necessary to hobble allied forces in some way, to duplicate the German tactical advantages. Certainly the two sides were not evenly matched in this regard.
One poster stated he wanted to try the early French armour that was so poorly handled. To maintain CM's realism, it would have to force some sort of historical constraint on the French player, severely limiting how many tanks he could purchase (as the French had their armour parcelled out along the length of the front, not concentrated)
I'm not disagreeing with an early era CM... but I think most people are assuming they could 'correct' the tactical wrongs of the actual commanders, and for a period game, this shouldn't be possible. Outdated and imperfect doctrines would have to be placed on the Allied player to make it significantly more difficult for them to win. It would hardly be realistic to play perfectly balanced scenarios... it was a terribly unbalanced period of the war.
Western Desert/Med... I think those are much more viable theatres for CM. Advantage seesawed back and forth with missed opportunities and squandered advantages for both sides, so I think a really good and well balanced game could come out of it.

This forum may be a lot quieter now, but at least that Peng tripe moved out...
