So have I, but it was some time ago now.

I know Charles is busy coding, and I think it's a wise decision to let Steve handle the board. After all, someone at BTS has to do the real work, and not cater to our curiosity. ;)

I finally received my copy of Computer GAmes with the preview article. Excellent. Relative spotting is going to force everyone to to totally rethink their tactics! And adding command organization for the armor is awesome. This will truly be a whole new game. Can't wait to play.

One small point...I noticed in the picture on page 62 that you are modeling T-34s made at the Uralsky Vagonostroitelny Zavod, will you have a varient for the output from

Uralsky Zavod Tyazhelogo Machinostroyeniya. As everyone knows the turrets produced at the two factories are quite different which could figure significantly in the game play! ;)

I just wanna say that Steve might be one of the coolest guys I've ever had the pleasure to work with. A zen master. Lord knows there have been times when I was a total pain in the ass, arguing about this and that, and he has shown incredible restraint and tact in dealing with me. He's got my respect, because I know he's passionate about CM.

When you think about the number of things he needs to coordinate... it boggles the mind. Just working on the interface wore me out. Now when you add 3D engine tweaks, front end, AI, historical accuracy, animations, artwork, overall game design, how to implement sewers, dealing with the board, design decisions, contacting magazines and press, etc etc etc...I mean really, this blows me away. The guy has a ton of work to do, no ****.

I say, just trust in the fact that he loves what he's doing, and working like a dog at it. Given that, everything oughta turn out OK.

Now, I'm waiting for the relative spotting thread to start up... smile.gif

I really enjoyed reading that article as I played a lot of D & D when I was a kid and I always wondered who those two guys were who created the game and why they started it in the first place. Very interesting to read about all that happened behind the scenes while I was absorbed in the game (circa 1983).

I laarned a few months ago that TSR Games doesn't exist anymore? What's this?

Also, the movie company that is preparing the LOTR movie seems to have shut down the I.C.E. Middle-Earth Roleplaying effort as well, I was wondering if there are any RPGs left (non-computerized of course).

Anyway, over the years I saw SPI disappear, then ASL was gobbled up, Judges Guild, Traveller, and now D&D and MERP. Are we making progress here, or slowly sinking into Nintendo/arcade game oblivion?

I always wondered whether it would be possible to build my own computerized version of old D&D modules, like G1, just to see what it would be like.

Wizards of the Coast has been publishing D&D for a couple years now. In fact, last fall, they released 3rd Edition which is a vastly reorganized edition.

Judges Guild (wish I had the link - do a search) has also re-opened with both reprints of their old stuff and a slew of new stuff in the works.

Check out Computer Games Online and they have a huge D&D spread.

Nice discussion you're having here. I've been reading Computer Gaming World for several years here in Norway so I'd be very surprised if Norway is the only country in the world apart from US where it can be bought. Go to a specialist store for magazines and they will most certainly order the mag if they don't already have it in stock.
