Hakko Ichiu
With all the discussion about which theater of operations to have as CM2/3/4 etc., why don't we rule out the following: CM5 - The Enemy Below: Squad level simulation of ship-to-ship submarine warfare. See your third watch torpedo crew load different torpedos, including the infamous American MKII. Excellent drowning sound effects and special beard textures for officers. CM6 - The Home Front: Squad level simulation of rationing, USO tea dances, scrap drives, and bomb-shelters (British and German only). Scenarios will include "Boogertown, Idaho", inspired by the famous true story war movie, Saving Private Ryan CM7 - The Manhattan Project: Squad level simulation of atomic piles, security clearances, and partial differential equations. Includes special Los Alamos high-desert terrain and adobe building textures. Will be followed by Peenemunde add-on pack. CM8 - Shore Leave: Squad level simulation of Naval and Air Force R&R missions in PTO and ATO. Units include MPs, long shoremen and (Post 6/44) those famous French girls. Combat effects include barroom brawls and attrition through venereal disease. Meta-campaigns will allow for pregnancy effects. Other games are in the works Ethan ------------------ Das also war des Pudels Kern! -- Goethe

maxm2
Very funny--and inspiring! CM20:Modern Battle Pack I- You have up to six companies plus armor and air support to attempt to defeat Laura Croft,Duke Nukem, or Gordon Freeman. To ensure play balance, you may only pick one of the three to be your opponent per scenario. Settings include gorgeous 3D graphics of Las Vegas, the Black Mesa Research Facility, or, of course, an Egyptian tomb. CM21: Combat Mission Civics 2000 Add-On- All the usual units...the setting and mission are fresh, however, as your boys try to guide a campaign finance reform bill through Congress; penalties for non-politician casualties. CM22: Mission: Pro Football- Up to three US squads take on any NFL squad. NFL players are allowed to add small arms to their usual 9mm and knife armory, plus they may use their usual drugs to keep from entering "tired" mode... Guest Ol' Blood & Guts
CM23 - Invasion of the New League: Pick any nationality you want, arm them with any weapons avaible and try to take down Vince McMahon's new "smash-mouth" football league, the XFL. Scenarios could include locker room brawls, contract signing interruptions, hostile take-overs of corner executives, and actual football games with hidden landmines. Peterk
CM24 = The Great Escape Tunnel, forge and stooge your way out of a POW camp and across the Swiss border. Ships with Colditz and Stalag Luft 3 campaigns. Actually, it's a pity no-one's ever managed to turn some of those great escape yarns into a decent game. Guest Germanboy
CM25 - Clearing Sunnydale (schbellingu?) Two platoons of German machinegunners with special wooden stick-throwing MG42s are called in to finally rid the place of Vampires and us of the TV series. Friendly fire takes Sander, Cordelia and their annoying teeny-love story. Buffy gives appearances as USO star after the successful operation wearing not a lot. Lurker
Combat Mission 26 Beyong Overlord (with Realistic Smoke & Fire, 1 to 1 representation of every soldier involved in the scenario, Dead Bodies, 3D Graphics exceeding the quality of any of the FPS games currently on the market, Buildings with interior walls, and Battlefields up to 100 km x 100 km in size.) And why don't I want to see this version of CM? The drawback would be that there isn't a war gamer outside of the Pentagon that can afford to run it. All the average person (like me) would get to do is to head over to CombatHQ and read AAR's, salivate over the incredible POTD's and hear those slobs at the Pentagon tell us how wonderful the game is. -Lurker

Major Tom
Combat Mission 27: THE EROTIC AWAKANING OF HITLER You are Adolf Hitler, using your charisma and cool hair you must seduce every fly koochie in the Greater Reich. You and your Pornstar Buddies, "Horney Himmler" and "Grointhrobbing Goebbels" must change the Third Reich into a funkadelic super orgy porno party. the only weapon in your inventory is your sex book, aptly named "My Struggle". Cursed with more than a limp and dead arm, attempting to attain the climatic victory could be a very short endeavor. PS. Germanboy, it is Xander, not Sander. Hakko Ichiu
This just in from the Home Office in Upper Sandusky: CM13 - Abused Pregnant Children of Incestuous Lesbian Moms: Squad level simulation of day-time talk shows. Units include skin heads; high-school honor students who turn tricks on the side; good for nothing, low-down, cheating boyfriends; and the ground-breaking 72-polygon Big Fat Mama. Weapons to include folding chairs and microphone insertions. Look for special acne textures and all-new trailer park terrain. For added realism, all fighting actions are pre-scripted by the scenario designer. Doug Beman
Actually, the graphics for Enemy Below would be very simple, since at any depth below ~100 feet, there isn't enough light to see. The game would consist of a black screen with a menu bar at the bottom. Each turn you'd randomly click around, and every once in a while there'd be an explosion. That would bring about a new round of driver-conflict symptoms: "I started CM:EB and my screen DIDN'T go totally black. What's wrong?" DjB

OTOH, developing an engine takes a lot longer. But such game still requires substainial horsepower to run. Since I suspect many wargamers would not have all the cutting edge hardware (I *just* have a P2-450 and 128MB RAM with a GeForce DDR), it may take some years before your dream realized. Guest Captain Foobar
CM 28 "Combat Mission, The Masquerade" The Year is 1945... By night, US soldiers clutch their bibles, and quake with fear. The Transylvanian Division, kept as a secret project by the SS Occult Services, is ravaging the French Countryside. Specially trained units of vampire hunters act by day, trying to find the coffins of these Nosferatu Squads. Modified British Crocs, with Wooden spike plates, and garlic Cannons are rushed to the front. Meanwhile...... CombatMission Regulars are horrified to find themselves surrounded, and constantly emailed by reject wannabes dressed in black fishnet and eye-makeup. Clove cigarettes and goofy lunchboxes abound. Guest aaronb
CM 30 - StuGs In Space An alternate history where rocket technology progressed rapidly, leading to low-earth-orbit battles between Shermans and panzers equiped with hydrogen peroxide-based rocket turbines. I particularly like the long-range sharpshooter possibilities in a micro-gravity environment. Since no-one can hear you scream in space, sound is dropped altogether in return for higher polygon counts. And dead bodies just re-enter the atmosphere, eliminating arguments about showing/not showing them them
Sten
CM 16, the pokemon gathering. CM hits the deck(!) in this fantastic mix of Pokemon, Magic the gathering and polish tank tactics. A tradeable card game that includes all your favourite Pokemon characters, Mox's family jewels and scripted pathfinding for armor taken from CC3. Cards will be sold in stacks of 2500, which includes 5 'uncommons' and 2 'rares'. Expansions are planned to be released weekly, but only the original edition and the last four expansions are required to play. Sten
maxm2
Great ideas...especially liked the space one, which may show up in graphic form in my corner at CM HQ (since StuGs have already been to Mars). How about: CM 38: Hogan's Hellcats You can choose to have as many US units and as much armor (Hellcats, if you wish--hence the flimsy rationale for the title) as you like. It really doesn't matter, since you are all prisoners of war. If you kill your incompetent German captors the game ends, so this isn't really a major goal. The excitement comes when you attempt to smuggle hookers into camp (hint: use "sneak" mode); start a US tank factory (hint: use "hide" mode); or fool Kol. Klink into thinking that his superiors are actually German-speaking Allied spies so that he assassinates them all (keeping him out of the concentration camp after this is even more of a challenge). CM42: SIM CM A CM for the micromanagement resource allocation crowd. You have administrative control of three companies, including every piece of typed paperwork, each requiring six carbons to be filed. Separate screens for requisitions, rosters, equipment maintenance, equipment disposition, personnel benefit tracking, medical histories, filing, unit history, and mail tracking, to name only a few. Where's the excitement? Well, apart from the orgasms that the obsessive gamers among us get just tracking all this crap, the big thrill comes when the boys from maintenance want to repair one of your Shermans and you ask them if they have a completed ought-ought six four two slash seventy-two form (Brazil in-joke here). If you do your job right, your unit will never be combat ready, leading to very low casualty count...a good thing, because the casualty forms are 16 pages long. Each.
