1. Overall very nice. I do wonder what could be done with the machinegun mount though. ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.
2. Smilie Test Do not feed him. [This message has been edited by EScurlock (edited 09-08-2000).]
3. The ability to use premade maps in quick battles. The ability to give multiple orders to a unit. For instance I'd like to be able to tell a unit -target this building, then when it's destroyed target this one. ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins. 4. It's allready in there. Not a likely accourance seeing you can't adjust dirrection mid turn, but tanks can hit each other. A ram command however I think would be a bad idea. Could you immagine how abused such a command would be? ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.
5. It didn't take long for American troops in Normandy to figure out that if you were spotted with a pair of binoculars, you'd draw some serious fire. I have no problems at all targeting an observer. ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.
6. Great work. Think you can break out the bmps ala ianc's sugestion. With so many vehicle versions available, I'd like to be able to make sure I don't overwrite anything I don't want to. Cheers. ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.
7. Just whaty I've been looking for. Thanks for the heads up. ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.
8. I've been avoiding this flame war business but old timers are dropping like flies here so I'll say a few things: 1)"Don't feed the trolls." 2) "Don't get your panties in a bunch." If something genually offends you please take it up in private. Who knows you may save yourself or the offending party some embarasment and get a much more civil and articulate responce than you would performiong a public attack/counter attack. 3) Please avoid putting people into boxes by labeling them. It's gust gasoline on the flames. Just my two cents. P.S. This board has gotten over flame fests before, and will again. ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.
9. You can not leave! The board has gotten back on track before and it will again. We can not let the bad push out the good. ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.
10. Can't do it the old guard must remain to set the example! ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.
11. Great work! Can we get them with outlined tiles? ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.
12. Becouse it was a bug introduced with the 1.05 patch and is being worked? It will be fixed very shortly I'm sure. ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.
13. Knew about the game since August 99. Been posting since December, a little while after the demo came out. ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.

15. I may be talking out of turn but I think the point was that such conversations should use the parties's personnal adresses, not the buletin board. His e-mail is: ntg84@home.com. Took me all of 30 seconds to find it. Cheers Eric ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins. [This message has been edited by EScurlock (edited 09-02-2000).]
16. Each vehicle is hard coded into the game expressly to prevent the kind of thing you're talking about. The vehicle and gun data has been extensively researched. You'd have to come up with some sound data to convince Steve and Charles to make changes, and they made sure they're the only ones that can make the changes. Don't know how target hits work but penetration data is done in a scientific manner. Every variable is taken into account using real numbers down to the mm. ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.
17.
quote:
Originally posted by BigFatGeneralSafeAtHQ: Well, my little system hasn't arrived yet at the store and I can finally order CM today (mail-order - I don't have a credit card thanks to nasty creditors) so that'll take 3 or more weeks just to get here to Canada. And to top it all off I don't have a girlfriend so I can't pass the time waiting with wild passionate sex. Could life be anymore boring?

Get a Pug. If you don't hunt and don't mind the shedding they're the best dog you could have. They'll happily sit on your lap all night while you play CM and absolutely love you for it. Now as far as the girlfriend thing is concerned: a Colonel once told me "If it flys, floats, or fornicates, it's cheaper to rent." (See how I tied that into CM and the military? ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.
18. Please add me to the list. discus@peoplepc.com ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.
19. The were also armor plate kits that covered the entire front glasis. I do beleive the + is ment to reflect vehicles with these kits installed. There were Ordinance produced armor kits designed to be installed in the feild, as well as ad hoc kits made by maintenance troops in the field. The factory produced kits added an inch of armor to the front glasis. Wet stowage and appligue armor added to protect ammo storage wracks were installled in both the field and at the factory. Squadron/Signal's "Sherman in Action" has some nice pictures of Shermans with these kits. It has a picture of an M4A1 with not one, but two of these kits installed. The book is written with modelers in mind but has some good info in it also. ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.

21. Thanks for the info, where do I get quicktime? ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.
22. Not only am I interested in the military history, but I'm in the military. I find WWII fascinating for many reasons, but it all boils down to my tremendous fascination with the hights and depths the human spirit can go through. Nothing pushes the human spirit to extreams like war does. Now as far as my enthralment in CM is concerned: I just like to blow-up and break things. This message has been edited for no better reason than becouse some people just might not get it. I'm going to bed. Cheers ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins. 23. aka_tom_w: You're welcome. Yes their seems to be many factors that contributed to the famous and infamous German tank gunnary reputation. PzKpfw 1: Didn't know that. I was aware that the German optics provided a supperior ranging capability to Allied optics, but was unaware of how supperior visibility was through them. Perhaps if you could provide Steve and Charles with some of your source material it would help them out in this area of the game. Steve and Charles have voiced their oppinions on this subject before, but they're not hardheaded. If good information is provided they might take a second look at this. ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.
24. The survival of the driver is a mater of chance. Yes they do survive more than not. It's still a matter of recon by blattently setting your troops up to get killed - recon by being shot at, as apposed to recon by fire. Yes things could be quite slow in many scenarios using the above described tactic, but that's how things are done time allowing. I realize this technique is not suitable to all situations, but it does have its time and place. I personally have gone as long as 9 turns without fireing a shot in Valley of Trouble. Only after I figured out pretty much where the enemy was, did I come out of hiding and crush the enemy. The game was not boring at all. Suspence filled all the way. In the end annalysis the question is: would a recon unit such as a jeep be expected as a matter of duty (not above and beyond) be expected to race around in front of suspected enemy possitions with the sole purpose of drawing fire? I have two close friends that worked recon, one an Army 13E, the other an Air Force Romad, both dedicated to their jobs. The responce they would give to such an order is not fit to be published in an open bulletin board. ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins. 25. I'd call it gamey becouse if you discribed his actions correctly he performed a recon by death. I used to do this all the time in Steel Panthers. The only difference was that I at least expected the halftrack or other APC I'd use to have a sporting chance of survival, then I'd pop smoke with the dismounted infantry. This guy pretty much murdered his jeep drivers, as apposed to a realistic recon. Realistically the jeep would park behind cover, the recon unit would get out and sneak into an observation possition and sit, watch, and listen. ------------------ He who gets there the fastest with the mostest wins.
