IronCat60
After barely surviving a battle with a mysterious, ghostly-white Tiger tank, Red Army Sergeant Ivan Naydenov becomes obsessed with hunting it down. Yes this is basically "Moby Dick" during the Great Patriotic War. The only thing known about the Tiger is it is a unique one of a kind improved model. One interesting thing is the movies main musical theme is a variation of Wagner's "Dawn and Siegfried's Rhine Journey" from "Gotterdammerung". Very Teutonic theme for a Russian made movie. And yes, this is in Russian but is English subtitled. All in all a enjoyable film. But the action scenes are well done. Below is the link.
DLaurier
saw it. Wasnt bad, as a kid's movie. No grog could sit through it without having a stroke
IronCat60
Agreed, the ending is very out of context. And what the heck is that German tank? A ghostly conjuring of the Reich's dabbling in the occult? Reminds me of my favorite WW2 comic, The Haunted Tank. Where a decedent of Jeb Stuart is a M5A1 commander and Stuarts ghost watches over him and his tank. Erwin
Interesting to see a British Matilda in the opening scene. The movie itself is not great. But, the weathering of the beat-up tanks and uniforms are wonderful. Modders should take a look for that aspect alone. Erwin
It was also nice to see a whole company of what looked like genuine T34/85's in action as well as what looked like a battery of SU122'S and what could have been SU152's. The ending is bizarre as it addresses the ever-present danger of Europe as it always will desire to destroy Russia - to paraphrase a chat that Hitler seems to have with a dark chap at the end. So, if this is a new film it's a bit of propaganda to whip up distrust. maybe even hatred of Europe as an evil entity that seeks Russia's destruction. Hmm.... StieliAlpha
Watched it quite a while ago. Some scenes are pretty good, the story is "strange", the movie is boring.... And far to many fried tankers for my taste. So, my "qualified" overall rating would be "Bahhhh!"
RockinHarry
On the technical side, the movie is fairly well done (seen it last year on DVD), but the "story"....OMFG. But the same could be said on that last tank movie with Brad Pitt (can´t recall title ATM).
Erwin
Heh... The fried tankers were the best "most authentic" part of any war movie I have ever seen. But, it looked as if two completely different movies were spliced together. Or, some political twerp with an agenda got his hands on it half way thru production. "Fury" btw... (Not bad movie, but definitely coulda done with "fried tankers" to make it grittier.) Edited July 4, 2016 by Erwin
StieliAlpha
Ah, yep, I forgot: Fury. "Baaahhhhh!" Hm, I think that's from "Platoon".?

Totally agree - had some promise then it goes a bit odd part way - good description two different films as there is little or no link between the two sections. Still for all its faults it has T34s

On the serious side: Fury was really awful. Looked good, but felt utterly wrong. More like WW1 in France. And: Too much gore.
IronCat60
Wow great observations Erwin. That helped me put into words the "political" feeling of the film. Yes it felt like it turned into a propaganda piece, and the ending? Was Hitler alive after the war as he was talking in a lot of "past tense" sentences? And was he under the care of the allies or may be a secret organization. A organization with the agenda of destroying Russia once and for all? Putin it mildly (pun intended) the end seemed like a cautionary warning against becoming too friendly with the west with a rally call to the banner of Mother Russia.
