Rastamon
Thanks for trying to spur on more Bulge interest. I have two scenarios in the works. Maps are 90% done. They are both Northern shoulder pre-snow so I'm waiting on MG to get some of the latest Bulge vehicles and feature enhancements. I do plan on mixing a few of your mods (Coats, gloves, signs, other?) into the final product.
kensal
Hi Kohenklau Kensal here! Just wanted to know if you have modded trees in your Bulge mod, to remove summer foliage. I am trying to recreate the summit of Hill 112 and by 10 July the trees there had been subject to so much artillery they had no foliage left. Is it even possible to mod away foliage to leave trunks and main branches only? I will look at a Bulge scenario when I have finished Hill 112. Ta, Kensal
mjkerner
kensal, sdp did some bare trees in his Italian Front mod for CMBN. I added several more trunks for variety to it. But setting GL in winter months gives you bare trees anyway, doesn't it?
kensal
Thanks, I'll check that out. I need to include one or two bare tree types only so that trees outside the artillery zone remain with foliage
kohlenklau
I guess you could mod one of the types of foliage as leafless. Leave the others with leaves?
kohlenklau
everybody is touring the windmills
Rastamon
I'm making progress on both of mine. Have plans for a few more. Map detailing sure takes a lot of time. I'll be using the helpful infantry mods you and mjkerner pulled together.
kohlenklau
It was a bust! Nobody officially entered. I have to send all the booze and beer and hooters' gift certificates back to the kind donors.... My thanks to JonS for agreeing to be a judge. My thanks to some folks who took a moment to post to this thread. Maybe my timing was just off...
Rastamon
What? Did I miss the deadline? In the spirit of the Bulge (and the fact that MG is taking up my limited free time) I think it only appropriate to wait until at least Dec. 16th. My scenarios take place on the 19th and 21st, so maybe that's more appropriate.
kohlenklau
Rasta, I had always thought you were using CMBN MG as a platform versus CMFI GL BULGE 44... I seem to recall you said you were waiting for certain vehicles and such. ???
kohlenklau
Wow, an old thread from the dustbin...<cough> <cough> October 2013. Oh boy! Look at this flop of my amateur attempt to gear up interest! A scenario contest I unofficially sponsored it myself and not a single entry....I HAD REAL PRIZES LINED UP! Oh well. But I think a lot has changed in the last year. Don't you? It seems to me that the scenario writing has kicked up a bit lately and that is a good thing... Gosh, I bet if a scenario contest was to be initiated by somebody with real scenario writing credentials, by a guy who officially writes scenarios for the head shed... yep, I bet that would stir up more dust than a battalion of kradshutzen headed to Warsaw in '39. Who could that guy be though? Could it be......the man, the legend, the professor of "scenariology", the man with a PHD in CMRT. The one, the only...Mr JonS? The answer is yes. A scenario contest is in the works and it will be official and judged by JonS. I can't release anymore details other than those few I have been given. So, now are you guys gonna enter?
rocketman
Sounds interesting. Will it be for all games or just CMFI, or seperate prizes for each game?
JonS
That's a good question, which I'm still trying to figure At this stage, I'm leaning towards making it a single comp across all games (at least the WWII ones?). In other words, the scenario can use whatever family or module you prefer. I have a particular concept in mind, so that everyone - regardless of family/module - will be designing to broadly the same idea. kohlenklau
I don't know what the prizes will be, but I hope they are sent by UPS...
Malaspina
Oh, yes! Bring it on, but only with the same number of entrants as last time + me. hehe
rocketman
Will there be different categories, like "Best scenario", "Most life-like map", "Best use of triggers" and so on?
JonS
No, but those things will factor into picking a winner.
kohlenklau
...and maybe you can have some joke awards for scenario with "AI plan most acting like drunken zombies"..."Salvador Dali Map Award"..."Best example of circular logic"...?

BletchleyGeek
I would be willing to enter. I have got plenty of stuff half finished and this could be a great motivation to get some of that stuff across the line.
