  1. Yes, I've done that once before, but the audio was terrible for that, so I'm doing it again. So far the third mission is my favourite - it's a great opposed river crossing and really highlights the strengths (and maybe some of the weaknesses) of the BMP3. I never tried to properly complete missions 2 before, so the above is my first real attempt at it.
  2. Most of the positive reviews for CMCW are being ignored by steam as they were added using steam keys.
  3. And I've just finished the mission, got a major victory:
  4. Thanks. This is the first part of the second mission of Crossing the Dnieper:
  5. Consumption taxes are favoured by many economists as they are less distortionary than income taxes. Greg Mankiw, author of probably the most used undergraduate intro to economics textbook, writes about it here in his blog: http://gregmankiw.blogspot.com/2006/06/on-inequality.html http://gregmankiw.blogspot.com/2006/06/consumption-vs-income-taxation.html But yeah, on their own consumption taxes are somewhat regressive. That doesn't mean that it isn't easy to make them progressive through something like Canada's GST credit: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/child-family-benefits/goods-services-tax-harmonized-sales-tax-gst-hst-credit.html
  6. Steam CMCW still allows traditional PBEM. I'd recommend steam if the dollar exchange rate to local currency is poor, or if you want a seamless update policy for patching which means you don't have to periodically check forums for notification of a new release.
  7. A good thought, but would be unusable for colour-blind people - at least without allowing things like this to be user-configurable or providing tooltips with additional information. I played a game with a guy who was fully colour blind and he had to rely on tooltips and user-configurable positioning of items to figure out what certain things did as the main UI differentiator on their effects was colour-based
  8. Did the first mission of Crossing the Dnieper: It's fun, I really enjoy using Russian gear. The BMP3 is an amazing vehicle. Made a couple of errors, probably the biggest being that I should have used the T90s as the base of fire element on the left hill and waited for the T72B3s to show up to act as the assault element, rather than the other way round. There's one ridiculous bit about 2/3 of the way in where two Ukrainian T64BVs decide to charge into the center of my BMP company, but they get clapped without causing any damage.
  9. Ok I had some time so went and finished off the first scenario: Interestingly, despite the US force surrendering and having only 22 men remaining, I only got a Major Victory. If you go to the end of the video I go through the objectives list (I have a screenshot but herself is keeping me away from the PC). @The_Capt is this intended?
  10. I actually think that the second mission is easier than the first. Once you get around the hill on your left flank you are pretty much in cover until you reach the objective areas.
  11. I've done this mission a number of times. Somebody asked to point out 25:20 - my T-62 (1975) get spots and kill the M60A3TTS straight away without it getting a shot off. The first Cav Scout platoon is wiped out fairly quickly with minimal loss. I screwed up and lost all the tanks in the FSE against the second cav scout platoon though.
  12. Livestreamed part of the first mission in the Soviet campaign:
  13. @BFCElvis people on steam discussion forum and on the Few Good Men forum are reporting that the steam version at the very least isn't working on Windows 11. Have any support tickets come in about this?
  14. Thanks. Yes, with this technique it works better with split squads to minimize the amount of movement. A squad which is spread across 2 action squares will see more movement. With tanks it works better with the move orders a short distance either in front or behind the first waypoint due to how their waypoints work - they don't use action squares as such, unlike infantry.
  15. If you stack waypoints, the most recent one created is the one that will be selected if they are stacked. But yes, it is fiddly. This is a bad short tutorial which I've just created.
  16. It is still the case, but you can reselect the waypoint and give a target order.
  17. You can also move the waypoints on top of the units position and they won't move.
  18. Except releasing the bugfixes doesn't seem to be a priority since this has allegedly been fixed for months now.
  19. Idk about you, but I've been using ATGM BRDMs and AT-4Bs to great effect with little obvious shortcomings. Granted they don't have thermal sights like the Dragon, but they aren't bad weapons systems either. Turning out BRDMs so the hatches are open improves spotting greatly. On mission 2 of the Soviet campaign in particular you can get these BRDMs to volley fire missiles at US tanks, and it looks amazing.
  20. I've just had a Shturm hit and kill an M113 which was partially obscured by trees with a full load of troops inside from over a kilometer away. I did use the Open Up command on it though.
  21. Really I'm just disappointed that CMCW hasn't been patched in several months despite there being a number of bugs such as campaign scenarios with missing units, .50 gunners on M113s being able to see and shoot through smoke, etc. We know that there are a series of bugfixes completed and ready to be released, but for some reason haven't been.
  22. That affects the local user, not other users. If you imply that it could be an issue for multiplayer games, where one person gives themselves an advantage by modifying local files, that's been a solved problem in games for decades now.
