Probably way too late, but the screenshot problem is a common issue. Try using the capture feature in your Nvidia software instead of the Windows Printscreen - Alt-F1 works in mine.

@Aragorn2002 we've discussed it before of course and I understand your frustration, but I also agree with:

In my case that's CMBN

That's a valid point, demo is engine 3, game is now engine 4. Not sure if that explains the behaviour though.

Have replied to the same post in the technical help section...

I remember playing that scenario in the demo. I didn't really know what I was doing at the time so may have missed it, but I don't recall the behaviour described with the infantry.
As far as I can remember my infantry gun didn't get into the action either, but I thought at the time that was due to lack of targets. Did your arc cover the target both in angles and distance?
Unless someone says otherwise I don't think you can grind the enemy infantry under your tracks - I try to keep a healthy distance anyway if I can.
You may be able to recover the MG if your original crew are wounded. Place the ammo carriers (or another infantry unit) 'on top' of the wounded crew and they should in a short while perform medic / buddy aid action, part of which is recovery of weapons / ammo. No guarantees though, and I haven't tried it with ammo carrier units but I assume it's the same as for other infantry units.
As for buying the game, I would totally recommend it.

A couple of examples...
Just now in a slow moment I was wondering why since I got the BN big bundle I haven't touched RT? Never mind, it's there when I need (want) it.
And then while looking at a photo of a knocked out Tiger in Villers Bocage (a load screen obviously) I thought I could rotate the view to check hit decals.
I could go on, but I suppose what I'm saying is these games are great. There we are, my positivity side shines through .

I’ll need to investigate it a bit more.
Great to see you're still working on this, I'm loving the flora as I blast Shermans and Cromwells

I used to play a lot of East Front 2 and recall a self-generating campaign mode
Yes it has a lot of good features and for a hex-based game was visually okay back in its early days. UI is rather clunky but that's not so unusual.

OMG - hope you can all stay safe over there! Looking forward to better times...

That will be interesting to hear. I usually find it quite difficult to come back to old games. Though I just recently went a long way to get my old „Tin Soldiers: Julius Ceasar“ back. But that‘s a different story...
Agreed, me too but West Front and East Front 2 used to be my favourites so we'll see. Haven't tried Tin Soldiers, seems to be another Matrix Games offering these days (which is of course fine by me)?

The competition is already over. But, if you had posted a video of Phil Harding singing this then I might have bent the rules.
But I thought videos were a no-no? A -5 offence no less

On its way to you now - enjoy!
Okay so with many thanks to @Lucky Strike I have the campaign and the first 6 scenarios which will be enough to see if it still gets me excited. Also in the properties of the read me file I found the author name James Govostes at J&G Associates. A search for him showed me that I'm not the first to look:
http://www.theblitz.org/message_boards/showthread.php?tid=73722
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=975126&mpage=1&key=
Seems the last version anyone had has all of 23 scenarios but still unfinished and it sounds like Jim had moved on to other things.
Further searching has revealed he is on LinkedIn... the plot thickens, a contact might be possible but perhaps I'll try the campaign again first.

IIRC, that was a fellow called tankerace.
Sadly my weary brain no longer has that information . If I find out, I'll post here (albeit in the wrong forum).

Try the Matrix forums. There is still some support for the descendants of the Talonsoft series. btw, this should probably be in the real General Discussion forum, not the Combat Mission - General Discussion forum.
Thanks - I have an offer of help from Lucky_Strike so I may be okay. You make a good point about the real General Discussion forum, apologies for my bad
-
@IanL thanks, I'll look at getting a cable.
@Lucky Strike thanks also - have DM'd you (possibly twice, sorry). Agreed, it may be so ancient that my memory of it is better than the reality.
Cheers!

I totally agree it's not a big problem (particularly when the map loads faster than I'm told it should), and have selected my favoured option

I could possibly have tried another forum but everyone here is so helpful, so...
Can anyone remember a campaign for Talonsoft's West Front (now under the John Tiller Campaign series name of course) based on the impossible task faced by 12th SS in Normandy? From memory it was produced by someone in Canada, and had at least 15 scenarios, but was unfinished when I last downloaded it. It was a memorable experience, with the sense of impending doom from the likes of naval artillery, air power and massed armour. I've looked for it but couldn't find it, although I did find downloadable scenarios at The Blitz website, where I think @IanL moderates.
Rather annoyingly I think I have it on an old internal hard drive which sadly is lacking the attached PC to read it - I suppose a cable of some sort might help.
Anyway, thanks for any help with what used to be my favourite game series - not any more of course! Which could perhaps suggest I forget about the above and get on with CMBN instead
-
Interestingly (for me at least ) some scenarios say to be patient as the map will take a long time to load. Doesn't happen, it's almost immediate? Is that because it has been loading the map while I look through the notes? I suppose a quick test might answer the question, but I have the feeling that isn't the reason.
-
Okay I think I'll do more testing tomorrow . I (as Wittmann) have a pressing engagement with some Allied armour in Villers Bocage...
-
Okay, tried resetting to balanced. No noticeable difference in load time, and slightly more concerning no perceived difference to visuals in-game. There should be a visual difference right?
-
Going from improved to best didn't make a noticeable difference for me, but I should try the reverse as well.
-
Yes, not a big problem but nevertheless...
My settings are only on 'improved' at the moment, but will give 'best' a try in a minute and see if I can notice the difference (in game and in load times).
Oh and I have a lot of mods for BN, not so many for RT. Whatever's available I suppose as I love mods generally, so many thanks to the modders.

If you are having trouble loading more pictures, you might want to check the "My Attachments" section of your profile. It could be that it is full, you can always create more space by deleting some of your older posts from it. They will still remain visible in the thread in which you posted them.
Agreed. When I first started, my allowance was used up by the grand total of just 3 attachments before I read your advice in another thread.

Hi Jimbob, welcome. I see why you posted your issue here but it might be worth also posting it in the General Discussion Technical Help forum as well. I don't have SF2 yet so apologies I can't really comment on the issue. Of course someone more knowledgeable than me (it's not hard) such as @BFCElvis may be able to shed more light on it.
