  1. Is this true? Recruiting criminals to commit warcrimes. This war enters a new low. Putin is recruiting prisoners with $3100 'bribe' to fight in Ukraine (msn.com)
  2. *SPOILERS* To play against the AI is better experienced as a sandbox exercise to produce a model of the correct tactical model. This is the case of the recon here. After 8 minutes the Soviet plan becomes clear. He rushed forward and used my first objective for an ambush position. One AFV was identified of the type SU100 it has the most advanced Soviet gun in 1945. Post War it was developed to be the main gun of the T54 T55 tanks. NATO equipped its tanks with the 105mm L7 gun to counter it this says something. Never mind the German Pzr IV is completely outgunned in a head-to-head confrontation. SU 100 is essentially a T34 with no turret. The Pzr4 will be able to outmaneuver it and the 75mm gun is more than good enough to penetrate it. The SU100 is not used in tactically the correct way it is not a tank but a mobile AT-Gun. Against a savvy human player I would probably throw in the towel. The Soviets would be better off with the T34/85. To start this battle use your scouts to find the Soviet positions. Of all the scouts 2 Squad/A team has the most situational awareness he is just not aware that the Soviet mobile unit on the right is eliminated. All the Radio Buttons are green so in a few turns you can give orders to deal with the Soviets. I found playing the game realistic like this is the most fun. I give myself the role of 1 SS Recon Btn and give orders according to the tentative contacts I have on the map.
  3. The game is very abstract in regard to communications, area fire and artillery. OK I won't tell him how to be the first one to shoot and win an engagement.
  4. Communications the first thing you need to establish is horizontal communications with your scout units and the armored Pzr IV Units. So that when you approach the Soviets each Pzr IV will have a tentative contact icon which puts the odds in their favor. You need to knock out the SU100s which will give you 1000 points enough for a win. Make sure each unit is in communications Soviets depend on brawn only their armor has radios.
  5. The Soviets got SU100 assault guns. These are not tanks the turret of a Pzr4 can swing around a lot quicker than an SU100 can turn on its axis. You need to flank them.
  6. Destroy the Soviet armor and you score 1000 points if you play German which I did. You have a win. It is a meeting scenario move to contact quickly with the mostest.
  7. Little footbridge at counterattack at Son BN Market Garden. Last time I encountered the problem. Solution was cross the bridge one platoon at the time Assembly (Waypoint) just before the bridge and a waypoint just once across the bridge. No problems with the hedges in that scenario but I used the same solution. Suggestion for the designers, instead of a footbridge just make a deep wading crossing. The Dommel River in that part has a maximum depth of 1.5mtrs.
  8. An interesting video about the M60 here in Austrian service. Austria was supposed to be neutral during that period. It has English subtitles.
  9. What I found with hedges is put a waypoint just before a 'mousehole' before proceeding through it. The unit will assemble in close proximity at a waypoint before moving through it. The same applies for foot bridges.
  10. I just read the scenario it says Axis Assault best played as Axis against US or H&H. It means the defending US forces will have plenty of triggers in the set up as it is supposed to defend. Once you become experienced you will discover that the AI is a poor attacker. I can tell you why, but I don't want to spoil your fun. I still think you need to take more notice of your combat stress and combat shock factors. Nervous and lower they won't follow your orders properly; shaken and panic they won't follow them all. Better play this scenario as attacker or play against a human if you want to defend. Feel free to defend as US but it is not optimal for this scenario. Assault means the attacker has more numbers and also often more intel. But the designer has possibly made fewer AI triggers for the attacking force. For a unit to engage in combat you need to make a careful selection.
  11. There is no point negotiating with Colonel Sanders if you are a chicken.
  12. You may spot the Germans on the screen but the pixeltruppen don't. I they are in temporary panic mode they can run anywhere. Even if everything is ok they do funny things. Like using the front door while I plotted the rear door. Your hedgerows (bridges too) is another matter you need to be careful how you plot waypoints. Formations can split automatically and won't merge sometimes. Experience is the best teacher. On map mortars have a good look at the munitions they have. If you plot indirect the communications go through the off-map fire direction centre. The game doesn't distinguish between LOF and LOS you may have an LOS but not a LOF. If you have your mortar behind a building, you may not meet the LOF parameters of its trajectory. Also read the recommendation of the designer or it is better to attack or defend. I think the 2nd round of Chaumont is better played as Germans while the first game as Americans. I rarely play defender against the AI Hotseat is our preference. However, in the 2 games the 60 mm mortar is best employed in the direct fire mode from an enfilade position. Just behind a crest or an elevation of the terrain.
  13. What I know I know from somebody else.
  14. You need to post some screenshots. I saw that 2 platoons have a minus (-1) in leadership. Rattled is one step away from panic and shaken. The additional combat stress was the straw which broke the camel's back. Doing your METT-TC one of the Ts stands for troops on hand. Troops with a minus break easily especially when their leader also has a minus. Rattled temporarily go into panic or shaken when they experience combat stress if they don't suffer additional casualties they will recover back to being rattled. Suffering casualties will slowly take away their will to fight, Troops with a plus keep their fighting spirit longer. Out of your three platoons I see you have only one platoon leader with a plus1 in leadership.
  15. They need plenty of room for all the "Under the table deals."
  16. The European infrastructure also plays a role. Example the Sherman and British cruisers in WW2 which could negotiate most bridges in Europe. The German tanks by that time were defending so maneuvering played a lesser role. The Leo1 like the M60 was a tank the designers felt they should have had during WW2. That era came to an end with the ATGM.
  17. Russia under the putin administration is not a regime you can do business with. That is crystal clear.
  18. Going earlier than that is the .50 aiming gun on the Centurion. It was effective up to a mile for first shot hit probability. It outgunned the T55 and was roughly on par with the T62. I would love a game from that period.
  19. The Brits came up with Chobham Armor and I don't think the M60 had laminated armor yet.
  20. At 3:31 to kill a man during his ablutions. Mmmm could be a crime against humanity.
  21. Politicians' university. You can promise your constituents anything because you are not going to honor it anyway.
  22. Except for one just to elect a leader who had no plans to repay it. Yes, he was elected.
  23. Down the track is 2022 now they are asking for higher German defense spending. Your valued WW2 Russian alley is the trouble maker.
  24. I think your mortar possibly doesn't have a LOF. Also, he has only 20 shells you would waste too much ammo. Suggested defilade position. You can hit most of the German positions. With 20 rounds proper indirect fire is not really an option. Watch the ridge if I were the enemy, I would have an observer near the shrub of the tree line.
