  1. I had a small scenario, took my objectives and did my METT-TC. Troops on hand mm yes, a platoon is required to defend it. Set out outposts and waited and waited. Finally pressed the ceasefire yes Major Victory. Enemy Waffen SS had also a platoon in reserve sitting on the edge of the AO doing nothing. I came to the conclusion CM is really made for H&H let the players decide when the game ends. Had times I just said I order to withdraw from area of operations.
  2. Indeed. CM you can command up to a battalion and if you play WeGo replay and examine every single trooper. The replay feature is missing in Graviteam. If you ignore the pyramid stress level, you get that unit killed. I appreciate you bought your PC for the same reason I did that's to enjoy ourselves. In CM you can't ignore anything not even a wounded trooper on the battlefield. I wish for a dedicated medic in updated engines. Large scenarios against my friend on Hotseat makes us happy like a pig in mud.
  3. Select a map and use it to play quick battle.
  4. I tried to edit and delete it. I just reported it to be deleted. No offense intended.
  5. We both quoted it 9 hours ago. I just quote my experience and not anybody else's. I played CM close to 20 years now and found infantry of all nationalities well reflected.
  6. Geplanter militärischer Rückzug
  7. The AI opens up far too early in my opinion. The AI commits T34/76's in some sort of suicide charge. The effect is the King Tigers suffer damage on their optics or their mobility suffer too. In all honesty the position of the ATG's are not hard to guess. I plotted area fire with the 120 mm mortars and adjusted the moment they give their positions away. The editor made the first defense expendable to give the JSII's a better chance. 76mm against any German cat 500 meter from the side, but that was not the battle plan of the editor. To play against a human player I would start from scratch change positions of trenches and foxholes. I don't like to make anything expendable.
  8. I think your opponent spots the foxholes but not the ATG's. They are deemed to be camouflaged if you don't change their position during the game. Alt+T makes the foliage disappear and trenches and foxholes will be exposed, or you see a dent the giveaway of manmade structures. We make some player rules to address this.
  9. It is the AI when you fight against them and when you have them you may plot them manually. Tactics would be 'Lure and Trap' in North Africa it was Rommel's tactic. Start a battle and withdraw into the area which your ATG's have covered. To be successful in CM you need to apply combined arms. Individual units against the AI tend to come out 2nd best. The AI for the player is the TacAI it comes into its own when you use combined arms. Regard ATG'S like you use AT-Mines they have cover-arcs and are on hide armor entering their area will be their trigger.
  10. @John Kettler It is part of the generic nature of the game. Example in Normandy the US Airborne had a cricket device to signal a friendly. Germans had a flashlight for short range signaling. I don't find much problem that some HQ don't have a radio but still call-in artillery. I think the defender as there are too many means to mention in which they can communicate should show in contact more often. Happy gaming.
  11. It has to do with a typically area of operations. We get Meeting, Probing, Attack or Assault scenario in our AO in which recon has taken place. The idea of recon is how far can we go to keep the integrity of our formation on the march. I like the first Campaign in FB you start with a Halftrack and 2 Jeeps. Their task is not to fight but move to contact the Jeep is superb for that. Huzzar in BN is another scenario I like. We need more scenarios or mini campaigns in which we require recon.
  12. If you encounter any BoersYou really must not loot 'em!And if you wish to leave these shores,For pity's sake, DON'T SHOOT 'EM!! Breaker Morant the day before he was executed. Last time a British firing squad executed an Australian and after Gallipoli they were no longer under command of the British.
  13. I think you meant 2 pounder or the 37 mm caliber. Towed AT guns were obsolete by wars end probably before that. 17 pounder about typical an excellent AT Gun but to deploy takes a considerable time. By 1944 the allies engaged in pursuit tactics, so their AT Guns were deployed on tracks. Soviet SU 85 and SU 100 were tank-killers and can be compared with the German SP Guns.
  14. I don't find any problems with Soviet infantry in RT. They are anything but impotent, just share some screenshots of the tactics you employed.
  15. Field-Telephone lines like a static defense as in Kursk were run out. C2 in regards of the defender should take this into account. The Soviet Army was excellent in defense this may have been one of the reasons.
  16. I just suggested after you dirty bomb Western Europe. The people would not be overly concerned about damaging places of worship, palaces, or commercial buildings. Don't get me wrong I like the game, I just find myself playing WW2 games more often now.
  17. @Bufo at this time I just look forward updating RT with FR that keeps me happy for some time. I still enjoy SF2 apart from some silly hypothetical scenarios. I don't have FI either.
  18. In SF2 you get penalized for damaging civilian structures. It is a hypothetical situation. Dirty bombs were used in Western Europe NATO responds by invading Syria were the planning originated. You have your warning orders in a few games not to damage certain buildings. Places of worship, government buildings etc. War is foreign politics by different means.
  19. Post WW2 conflicts got an annoying dimension it is called politics. In SF2 it plays a role too. We all play the games to have fun and wish you happy gaming. Artillery would have been dominant at the Fulda Gap and the North German plain. I didn't see much of it watching some demo games. Role playing a war which never was is difficult.
  20. Tradition started at Beersheba WW1. They are not cavalry they are infantry according to a German observer. Yes, they are still called Light Horse lol. M113 was a jack of all trades master of none. The 0.50cal is firepower you can't afford to ignore. There is such a thing as battlefield innovation.
  21. At Long Tan they were used to reinforce their mates and used as AFV's in the truest sense of the word. Go to 46:01 Long Tan The True Story - YouTube
  22. I can understand that WW2 will be as attractive for wargamers as WW1 is. I am 70 now and WW2 was still widely talked about by eyewitnesses when I grew up. We used to make Airfix models and use the plastic figurines and experimented making wargames. one mm represented 1 meter. A Tiger Tank could defeat any allied tank and could be defeated from the side only by a 75mm or 6 pounder guns. Parents had to be away, and the living room was area of operations. I think Battlefront still has a market for us oldies. We think the graphics are fantastic compared what we used to have. I still prefer WW2 above SF2 but I understand the generation gap.
  23. It needs to be tested, proximity of enemy troops or proximity of your area fires. Is your C2 connected? The TacAI may regard any new contacts as hostile by default. More data is required. I know that air support attacks friendlies if they are in its area of operations.
  24. I agree however me and my opponent find it more convenient to visit each other and play on Hotseat than by sending PBEM files. It starts like this we like large maps agree on the Map and game and let the host do the defending. The attacking player visits and come to an agreement on the rules. I disagree that PBEM is the only way to go Hotseat for us is very enjoyable.
  25. Reading all the stuff about PBEM it doesn't sound very attractive at least for me. To put a computer up in the Cloud would make Hotseat a possibility on the internet. I get my visitor and partner in crime this Friday. I have two computers in my house, but Hotseat can only be played on one PC only. It would be great just to play from two different rooms. Our weekly game is always enjoyable, and we eliminated gamey borgspotting to zilch. You may win a game put you only kid yourself when you're Zeus on Mt Olympus. Here is a thread in regards PBEM games. PBEM turns not generating correctly for large battles. Just look it up.
