  1. The M2 .50 Cal Thermal vision bug was not in CMRT initial release v2.10. It is there since v2.11, from around may 2021.
  2. All .50 Cal weapons in CMCW and CMRT had thermal vision enabled in error. CMCW was patched/fixed earlier. CMRT is not...
  3. So 78%, 98%, 91%, 93% remaining. The average of these four numbers is my earlier guess 90%.
  4. I don't know what you mean. I figured textures go to video card memory, through OpenGL API in the case of Combat Mission. Which of the two methods you mention applies to Combat Mission? Like I wrote earlier, the ancient zip compression reduces the size of the combat mission archives to 47% already. Old call of Duty games used .pk3 archives which were just renamed zip archives. I don't know what modern games do though, since I hardly use any. (Edit; I remember ArmA 2 uses this: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/PBO_File_Format It does mention that archive compression is becoming less popular there. But the textures themselves are in often in .paa (dds DXT-variant) format, and when I save such a .paa texture as .TGA instead: it takes eight times the space) It is no surprise though, that 47% compression. Combat mission uses .bmp format which can waste space like crazy. For example when a bmp has a mostly empty alpha channel, it still stores all those same value bytes in a long row, that is a quarter of the texture containing just repetitive bytes. (If I have a choice, I always use png instead) I suppose combat mission does not support .dds / .png / .jpg textures since there are none in the game. Neither are there any compressed audio formats like ogg and mp3. I do wonder what is the rationale behind it. If you say so, but how about the past, and people without NVMe SSDs? I have no experience with it. But it is an interesting option.
  5. Wondered about compression versus loading times, it also improves.
  6. I disagree. Redundant old files in the archives are a factor that adds to the size, but currently a minor one. From what I have seen more then 90 percent of the files in the original game archives are still used by the current game versions. It is the combination of all the other mentioned reasons. About compression: Rar compression shrinks these games to an average 32% of original size. Zip does 47%, in a quick test.
  7. For what the CM game archives hold they are relatively big. Because the brz archive format does not compress, and the main texture format used (.bmp) does not compress either. The game installers are a lot smaller, because that is packed with 3rd party innosetup, which uses compression. So imagine that since the v2.0 engine times they increased the texture detail. Then the texture width / height goes up a factor two, texture surface area 2x2=4, installed size at least up with a factor four for just that reason. Then more of those textures for additional unit outfits, different terrain seasons (ground, trees, buildings) etc.
  8. I wondered, it seems to be like this British - L1A1 to L85A1 -> in service 1985 Germans - G3 to G36 -> in service 1997 Dutch - FAL to Diemaco C7 -> selected for service 1994
  9. Except for the header information, most of the BTT format is an encrypted or compressed block. This includes the height-map, the tile-map, the units, etc.
  10. On my homepage, http://www.gb-homepage.nl "Combat Mission" section, bottom of that page: CM-BRZ-File-Listings.zip
  11. Hmm, that is a tempting offer you made there... Free even, that is not very expensive... very tempting. But what if I made counter-offer? Like, suppose I would send you the file lists of all CMx2 games. If you take all, I could even throw in a bonus excel sheet; with the vehicles present in the four WW2 CM games.
  12. This unofficial version of mine is good at making lists without having to extract everything. Drag and drop the brz archive on the BrzPack icon, and a listing text file will be created. Then quit the command window to leave it at that. Again it is not a macintosh tool, Windows only.
  13. SturmTiger is only in CMFB. JagdTiger is in CMFB and CMRT-FR CMBN and CMFI do not have these.
  14. You cannot use the v2.11 update, or any v2.xx update, (which is game engine 4) when you only have a license from 2014 (which is game engine 3). Game engine 4 is a paid upgrade: https://www.battlefront.com/cmrt-upgrades/
  15. 1/72 rules! I have the Italeri IS-2 Build but unpainted. Nice kit with plastic tracks. Sorry to hear it is underscale, I would not have guessed. On the soviet side I also have a Dragon and Italeri T-34/76 plus two Revell T-34/85. From UM: SU-76M, ZIS-3 and ZIS-2 guns. A PST BM-13 Katyusha (studebaker). A bunch of figures to go with them (Pegasus/Revell/Preiser/Zvezda). Zvezda recently released US infantry in 1/72. Good to see them releasing a new 1/72 kit again. PS. The sherman looks great. Good painting job there.
  16. As a kid I found those MechWarrior 3 (1999) robots were pretty cool. They still look cool for sure. But later I began wondering how fragile and high-maintenance a thing on legs would be compared to a tracked vehicle. Also why some of these robots have complicated hinged arms, whilst the weapons seem to work just as well when fixed to the torso. Such questions are the downside of growing up I suppose I also liked the Battle Isle 2 (1994) units, which were futuristic though seemingly also inspired on real-world hardware: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePt782WFiJM The Dune 2 (1992) Mentat unit artwork was pretty cool as well. With thick track pads and heavy armor. http://sulfurzona.com/images/dune/install.gif I also have this Warhammer 2004 catalogue, which has some interesting Warhammer 40.000 units. But I am not fond of the Space Marine unit design and all the tank designs.
  17. I am actually looking backwards in time. Considering somewhat older books, preferably a notch below the most-awarded/top-selling ones.
  18. Hey, I read that Niven Footfall book like six months ago. It is good. A bit slow at times, but a finale with lots of action. It is notch below my favorite books of him: "The mote in gods eye" / "Gripping hand" and "A world out of time". But these ones are weirder then Footfall, as they have no normal earth setting.
  19. I find the same problem for Black Sea, where Ukraine has these vehicles. Can anyone confirm?
  20. The new patches v1.02 v1.03 have three updated vehicle models. One being btr-70k.mdr. The command variant of the BTR-70. But as far as I can tell, this model is not used by the game at all. The command variant shows up as a normal BTR-70?
  21. Nope, you don't need it. At the time I bought Market Garden long before Commonwealth.
  22. you would need these two: CMBN Base Game CMBN Market Garden Module - or this single one - CMBN BIG BUNDLE PS You will always have the necessary files, that is never an issue.
  23. Lets try and add a preview image (for the mod in 1st post, not related to JuJu's mods) :
