  1. Seems my Linux distribution already has the Wine 8.7.something update available. Installed it and tried some things. The fatal startup error "Could not initialize OpenGL graphics.." no longer occurs. The current CM games display and run fine for me, using Linux AMD GPU driver. Great! Edit: Since the recent Wine update I can now also run ArmA 2 properly, that game had mouse input issues before. Stalker CoC now runs at reasonable speed, it was very slow with older wine versions (or was it because I upgraded the Graphics card slightly and switched it to AMD GPU driver?). Good stuff.
  2. I got a notification that there is a fix in, in the official Wine code-base. But it may take some time to get included in particular staging and main distributions. Will look for a portable wine distribution that has this fix. Wine Commit and Code details, commit 01c59b3f18dca1f4db42425eda2f95296da61a63, by Paul Gofman. https://winehq.org/mailman3/hyperkitty/list/wine-commits@winehq.org/message/JV224IVSA7BRDTU4BYFICNWHZ3VBC4PY/ Combat Mission on Wine - Bug-tracker messages: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9378
  3. Glad you like this mod. I just attended to to the CMBN v4.04 playback button mismatch, and indeed it comes down to taking the six small CMRT buttons. If you download the package again it will contain a patch for use with CMBN v4.04.
  4. I suppose yes. Will add it to my ToDo list.
  5. I second this. even with small scenarios the current games are not enjoyable on intel HD2500 graphics IMO. I often tried it for curiosity on a laptop with that particular graphics chipset. Even a low-cost and low-power NVidia GT 710 1GB card performs significantly better. With that one small scenarios are enjoyable. The current CM versions run on Windows 7. The official system requirements are a disclaimer. Like: no guarantees or support, especially not for future patches. EDIT: The steam wrapper may have requirements of its own. I don't use steam...
  6. I got home and tested it. My Black Sea v2.18 Battlefront version does not show any such bug. When I remove the file ".\data\black sea v217.brz" from the game I get exactly the bug you show in the screenshots. Tanks are described as "MANPADS" etc. In you screenshot it also says "MANPADS" there. So your game is using the v.2.16 string references. which can have only two causes: 1 - file "black sea v217.brz" size 302.662 bytes, file date 29 december 2022 is not present in the proper place. 2 - a strings.txt file in some mods folder in the .\data folder is overriding the stock brz archives things. PS. excuse me if I leave it at that, years ago I suggested battlefront better implement a strings.txt versioning cross-check in their game. By now, I am a bit frustrated with similar problems being posted like every few weeks.
  7. You mention "v210" specifically. But the game's data folder should contain fifteen .brz-files starting with "black sea v100a.brz" and ending with "black sea v217.brz".
  8. Do a file search? "black sea v217.brz" Should be there together in "data" folder with other brz files like "black sea v216.brz". I am not home now, so I cannot really check if it is really a bug. I can only suggest to check the above.
  9. Did the below file not install to the correct place? .\Data\black sea v217.brz
  10. I looked it up, and found this bit. https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/469733-mkpz-t-34-85-all-variants-old-tank-new-state/ Quoting from there: "more T-34-85s were imported, which reached peak numbers in 1958 with a total of 1146 units .... Nevertheless, most of these tanks were still in service in 1975, when 710 of the aging medium tanks were still serving in second-line and training roles, and even in the very last days of the USSR and DDR, there were still mothballed T-34-85s waiting in warehouses in case a need for them should arise. In 1988, 35 tanks were still listed in the inventory, by which point they might have been in DDR service for up to 35 years depending on when they were acquired." My Typenkompass book "Panzer der NVA" mentions a modernization program to T-34/85m standard, with the last mentioned year of that program being 1965. Edit: That is all East Germany specifically. NVA is not Vietnam related either, meaning Nationale Volksarmee here.
  11. Besides the nice schwimmwagen in the pictures, I see some German schwimmbaumen... You know, swimming trees.
  12. Steve: "Making a 1943 Eastern Front game focused on the Summer period is vastly easier to do than Barbarossa." Well spotted! "Vastly easier to do", isn't that just like saying: very, very easy to do?
  13. I suspect these battles continued in the direction of Haïti then Jamaica.
  14. Is it not that the elephant in the room for expanding CMRT to earlier times is... Kursk 1943? And I don't mean they have to, on the contrary. It is more like how to expand CMRT backwards in time without having to do that whole Kursk thing, but still without leaving a gap there, that will surely make many customers ask: "Where the hell are the battles around Kursk?"
  15. I also like to play small scenarios. Real-time Quick Battles usually. Then use the autopicker with "mix" force. When necessary I press autopicker "suggestions" until I can see in the force list, that the base formation has sufficient infantry. In addition to vehicles that is. Point being: I don't think such force composition is all that realistic. Because armor is normally pooled. Not distributed to single vehicles, to assist the infantry. But I just like the dynamics of playing that way.
  16. You write "as a NEW game should". Some years ago it was the other way around. Released April 2016. Vehicle wise Final Blitzkrieg was the most bang for the buck. Mainly because it included so many German vehicles. Like the German vehicles from CMBN base + Commonwealth + Market Garden (Flak vehicles) then maybe some from CMRT like the Hetzer. There are still two CMFB exclusives: Flammpanzer38t and Sturmtiger. But later the releases of CMFI Rome to Victory and CMRT Fire & Rubble could benefit from that growing library of vehicles as well. Though like CMBN that does require the investment in modules. Also CMFI terrain engine is a bit of an odd one, in regards to buildings, also regarding trees. So while it can do winter, it cannot show more northern europe as well as CMFB/CMRT.
  17. I made two test maps, putting like eight .50 cal HMG teams in front of a single immobilized T-90. CMSF2 version 2.04 (without latest patch): T-90SA, I see no unrealistic behavior. External systems broken. Crew stays alive. Tank cannot degrade any further. .50cal ammo ran out. CMBS version 2.16 (without latest patch): T-90A, Broken as described, "Hit: opening". Tank blows up after around 15 seconds of .50 cal fire. Just to say: CMSF2 did not have that T-90 armor bug.
  18. You are obviously using mods while testing for game bugs. Which is not the way to do thing. Maybe you are using an M4+GL model mod that does not override any lower detail distance models. I which case it is the mod at fault.
  19. If you can, maybe try the Matrix/Slitherine edition of CMCW. It has a simpler DRM scheme. Does CMRT v2.12 work on that system?
  20. If you deviate form the original CMCW building layout too much, do consider that it may affect the balance of the AI plans that are in such Quick Battle maps.
  21. Good choices. Here they are in form that will load in CMSF2, with no buildings that is. https://we.tl/t-QAnT21pdA2 Other things will also be wrong. Like flavor objects and fences. I found it most practical to, for example, take a photo with an iPad from the map as shown in CMBN and to keep that displayed as a quick reference for the buildings. Also to run CMSF2 and CMBN editors simultaneously, then task-switch to crosscheck things.
  22. Here are sorted CMBN map previews (171 MB) https://we.tl/t-FE4S8DtJdj I had these listed as candidates myself: Asslt Med Hills (water) QB-246 Asslt Med Hills QB-260 Asslt Med Open QB-247 Asslt Med Rough (bocage) QB-244 Asslt Small Open (bocage) QB-241 Asslt Small Open (water) QB-296 Asslt Small Village QB-278 Meet Large Open QB-095 Meet Large Village (bocage) QB-086 Meet Med Town QB-291 Meet Small Open QB-292 Meet Small Rough (bocage) QB-072 Edit: credits for making all these screenshots go to sttp:
  23. It won't work if you clear the maps with the newer games, because they will save them in the newer format/version. Just pass me a map name, so I can do that without changing the map format/version. Edit: Someone made those map preview images of the whole of CMBN, then I arranged them into the four different sources: CMBN base / Commonwealth / Market Garden / E4 upgrade bonus. So the focus for porting should be on Commonwealth, anything later won't work. I can send you those images if you want.
  24. One could download the old patches, for example like this: https://www.patches-scrolls.com/dl.php?file=cmbn_v111_patch.zip Force install them over a current CMBN and then move out any .brz files from the data folder that are newer then the executable. But then the whole attempt hits a wall: You need an old working serial for the matching engine version, then also use it on a Windows OS that is compatible with the older DRM versions, like Windows XP. Such a serial can no longer be purchased. I may be able to help to clear out an old CMBN/CW map for porting. As long as I don't have to help with repopulating them with houses of the right type with the right window/door configuration. That is the time consuming part.
  25. That is a though question. Either one saved that version back then when it was current, or.. not much else that is proper.
