Go play a boardgame with counters and a topo map then.
As I've purchased most of their entire series I'm surprised to see that I'm completely discounted as a part of the playerbase. Maybe the self importance I'm getting from this post is why I've lurked for a long time since I first bought the cmx1 series years ago.

I'm sorry my career in the military and government work has lumped me squarely with young desensitized sods. Leading men in battle and simply wanting a pat on the bum when you screw up and get them all killed is insulting more than having blood to remind you of how ridiculous your decision making process was.

The popularity of Aris' weathered vehicle mods would blow your opinion out of the water. There's obviously demand but please continue to discount everyone who offers a differeing opinion.

At the very least I'll hope that they further open it to modders if that's possible, in order to have the community OC makers like Aris help sate the blood lust of the dumb millenials.

Heres your reply SLIM as it seems you feed off the negative attention:

Seems like everyone here but you and Womble have the capacity to not act haughty, raging and toxic to "newcomers" to posting here.

You are the face of the community though. YOU, know what's best for everything. Sorry I forgot.

I've met plenty of people in the real world who do NOT post on the forum so your view of the Battlefront customer is probably really detached from reality. The number one complaint I've gotten from trying to get friends or colleagues to either buy or who already have bought a CMx2 game was either the lack of visual polish or the lack of blood.

Judging from the general vitriole in the Battle of the Bulge screenshot thread concerning atmosphere and visuals I'd say moving Combat Mission forward as a video game (see visually) seems to be important to a number of people.

I agree. Considering Combat Mission has stuck to unerring realism in all other facets I doubt they'd go that route. Pretty sure the "blood poof" is used as a visual hit indicater in things like FPS games which is a game mechanic. Of course Hollywood has a hand in perpetuating the myth that we are all pressure packed ketchup packets.
I think the original Ghost Recon and Rainbow six games did blood pretty well. With a majority of it spilling out after someone was already shot.

That's a very important point to bring up with cross border sales.

With their new "patch" system I'm wondering if they could just do it in an optional patch. The Total War series has done blood patches for money and most people I know buy them.

The Total War community was also divisive on the issue of blood. Utilizing and monetizing a patch for the blood was an incredibly smart move by SEGA.

From what has been said about CMx2's module system, optional implementation would be super easy. It would solely be an issue of developing optional content that is worth being apart of the CM series and being able to recoop the costs of doing so or profitting from it.

    On uniform textures,

Another game series applies some staining to downed uniforms which I think isn't over the top and was pretty well done.

    On body parts,

I'll have to admittedly agree. Very few games have really gotten things down in the department of dismemberment. It is, as I understand, a relatively underexplored area for games.

I doubt Battlefront would approach this. A dismemberement system seems like it might be too much work/time than they are willing to put into something that may or may not be high enough quality for releasing with their series.

The minute a 9mm round pops a leg off the forums will be alight with anger!

On vehichle damage and missing troops,

I recently got the latest engine patches so I'm pretty excited to see visual penetrations for once. I'm always excited about my detail in that fashion. You could say that's all needless "visuals". Thrown tracks, popped turrets, HEAT gouges, smokey black towers climbing from the hatches, that's all vehicle blood. It could all be abstracted away but it's visually stunning It adds weight and gravity to the missions, enhances the atmosphere.

Honestly  finding out what happened to your buddies after a massive explosion happened is a real issue. Whether or not CM wants to have men disappear on you is up to them. A friend of mine stepped on a tripple stack anti-tank mine that was deep burried in Afghanistan. He was thrown a long distance by the explosion and his squad needed to actually find him to render aid. There was a brief time where they honestly had no idea where he went and thought he might have been vapourized. I'd be potentially ok with removing bodies from massive direct hits from HE and leaving helmets or whatever.

Cmon guys, we don't need a spitting match over this one. Thing is BF has been pretty adamant about not adding gore. Whether that is good or bad is all opinion, but that is probably not going to change.

Going back to the suggestion for Vietnam, there are some obstacles around LOS issues etc, but those could possibly be remedied by allowing units to shoot in a direction with limited LOS using area fire. I for one would love to see. CM Vietnam game, but I am not expecting it. BF has not expressed any real interest

Huh? What?  As far as I can tell you were the one acting haughty and raging.  Yeah, I suppose it is a bit of "he hit me back first" but it takes two t tango.  You said you wanted blood and other said they don't. If you are allowed to express your opinion then aren't others?

On the subject of newcomers, if you really are a newcomer then I hope you can let this slide and contribute to the community...  I worry a little when I see someone 'new' on the scene who arrives all hot and bothered and right away down votes posts that are not harsh or out of line and at the same time up vote their own posts it makes me wonder just a bit.

Are you one of those people who need to see blood and gore to remind you you're playing a wargame?
How about you go back to Call of Duty, plenty of blood and gore to sate your appetite.

This topic has already been discussed several times before, and Battlefront has already stated there will be no blood and gore in Combat Mission, ever.
    Discussion over.

thefiend got a reaction from Bulletpoint in Breakout from the Neerpelt bridgehead. (how to solve?)
Please teach me how to beat 4th mission of "THE ROAD TO NIJMEGEN" campaign.

300 meters of open terrain guarded by dug in machine guns and pak40s surrounded by marsh that insta-tracks any vehicles that try to wade through it.

I thought I would shell/bombard one side until I can clear it with infantry but no matter how many direct hits I can't seem to injure anyone inside.

The picture I uploaded is from an airstrike that didn't kill or wound anyone. This was after a previous strafing run and a maximum barrage from 25lbers.

Hopefully this hasn't been discussed too much and I appreciate any help guys.

OK, two separate single pink pixels on default summer fir tree 503.bmp (which you can fix yourself with MSPaint if you don't want to wait for my published fixes - both on the left, one high, one low, both amid the branches). Apologies for not spotting them before. I may be tweaking the trees further anyway, so depending on how much needs correcting/updating, I'll either issue an update zip, or re-issue the relevant folder zip in time.

I think a new engine wouldn't hurt, and with the Bulge+Bulge and CMBS and CMRT modules it might be a good time to sort of start laying the groundwork.  On the other hand if after CM: Bulge: Gotterdamrung, CMBS: Denmark, and CMRT: Tea Break at the Gates of Warsaw, CMSF redone on the current engine shows up, and there's an early world war two (or dare I hope Korea 1950 OR 2018)  CM, I'm really not feeling like I'll be terribly put out.

I would like the game if it wasn't so very far behind engine wise compared to the rest of CM. Its probably from me being spoiled by the other games further along in the engine, but this one gives me the worst performance and it kills it for me. Definitely would love to see it revisted with better models, textures, tank riders etc. but not going to happen sadly.

Oh and does anyone think the amount of western firearms the muj have in game are a little over embellished. I get maybe some pakistani G3's but M-16's, FN Fal's, and AR-10's kinda seem far fetched and i took it for just Russian spin.
