  1. As much as I agree with the 1st amendmend, the staff has told me to keep this tasteful. I'm not sure how they'll view posting MK fatalities. I figured I'd pass on the wisdom I was given. With out opening a can of worms. I'm not sure I honestly understand Battlefront's decision on blood. Please DM me for further discussion. I'll be posting some blood identifiers later from other games as soon as I paste them together. Hope you can comment.
  2. Did a 2hr hotseat battle with Churchill AVREs and infantry, it was ridiculously fun but took hours and hours.
  3. Do you think another way to view past trees would need to be developed or would the entire map just be littered with stumps or partial stump. Or do you think jungle would be portrayed differently? Would Tunnels be like CMx1 tunnels? I appreciate your input Chris. This was my understanding for awhile now.
  4. First, I'm pretty sure it's evident I addressed everyone else with reciprocal respect who wanted to actually talk about it instead of just spew ridiculous ageisms. Expressing your opinion is far different than coming right out of that gate with. "We're not as desensitised to the carnage as the younger set, and don't need additional gore to bring home to us that "Men just died!"" This is pretty backhanded, and disrespectful. "go back to Call of Duty, plenty of blood and gore to sate your appetite." Again, disrespectful, toxic attitude. "Discussion over." Again, disrespectful, rude. Came here to contribute and thank modders for their work after playing CMx1, CMx2 for years and years with fellow soldiers and in solitutde. I think there's a strange dichotomy in playing a 1/1 tactical level combat game and drawing an arbitrary line somewhere as to what is superfluous visuals and decoration and what's not. Refer to my previous post about that.
  5. Heres your reply SLIM as it seems you feed off the negative attention: Seems like everyone here but you and Womble have the capacity to not act haughty, raging and toxic to "newcomers" to posting here. You are the face of the community though. YOU, know what's best for everything. Sorry I forgot. I've met plenty of people in the real world who do NOT post on the forum so your view of the Battlefront customer is probably really detached from reality. The number one complaint I've gotten from trying to get friends or colleagues to either buy or who already have bought a CMx2 game was either the lack of visual polish or the lack of blood. Judging from the general vitriole in the Battle of the Bulge screenshot thread concerning atmosphere and visuals I'd say moving Combat Mission forward as a video game (see visually) seems to be important to a number of people. I agree. Considering Combat Mission has stuck to unerring realism in all other facets I doubt they'd go that route. Pretty sure the "blood poof" is used as a visual hit indicater in things like FPS games which is a game mechanic. Of course Hollywood has a hand in perpetuating the myth that we are all pressure packed ketchup packets. I think the original Ghost Recon and Rainbow six games did blood pretty well. With a majority of it spilling out after someone was already shot. That's a very important point to bring up with cross border sales. With their new "patch" system I'm wondering if they could just do it in an optional patch. The Total War series has done blood patches for money and most people I know buy them. The Total War community was also divisive on the issue of blood. Utilizing and monetizing a patch for the blood was an incredibly smart move by SEGA. From what has been said about CMx2's module system, optional implementation would be super easy. It would solely be an issue of developing optional content that is worth being apart of the CM series and being able to recoop the costs of doing so or profitting from it. On uniform textures, Another game series applies some staining to downed uniforms which I think isn't over the top and was pretty well done. On body parts, I'll have to admittedly agree. Very few games have really gotten things down in the department of dismemberment. It is, as I understand, a relatively underexplored area for games. I doubt Battlefront would approach this. A dismemberement system seems like it might be too much work/time than they are willing to put into something that may or may not be high enough quality for releasing with their series. The minute a 9mm round pops a leg off the forums will be alight with anger! On vehichle damage and missing troops, I recently got the latest engine patches so I'm pretty excited to see visual penetrations for once. I'm always excited about my detail in that fashion. You could say that's all needless "visuals". Thrown tracks, popped turrets, HEAT gouges, smokey black towers climbing from the hatches, that's all vehicle blood. It could all be abstracted away but it's visually stunning It adds weight and gravity to the missions, enhances the atmosphere. Honestly finding out what happened to your buddies after a massive explosion happened is a real issue. Whether or not CM wants to have men disappear on you is up to them. A friend of mine stepped on a tripple stack anti-tank mine that was deep burried in Afghanistan. He was thrown a long distance by the explosion and his squad needed to actually find him to render aid. There was a brief time where they honestly had no idea where he went and thought he might have been vapourized. I'd be potentially ok with removing bodies from massive direct hits from HE and leaving helmets or whatever.
  6. Go play a boardgame with counters and a topo map then. As I've purchased most of their entire series I'm surprised to see that I'm completely discounted as a part of the playerbase. Maybe the self importance I'm getting from this post is why I've lurked for a long time since I first bought the cmx1 series years ago. I'm sorry my career in the military and government work has lumped me squarely with young desensitized sods. Leading men in battle and simply wanting a pat on the bum when you screw up and get them all killed is insulting more than having blood to remind you of how ridiculous your decision making process was. The popularity of Aris' weathered vehicle mods would blow your opinion out of the water. There's obviously demand but please continue to discount everyone who offers a differeing opinion. At the very least I'll hope that they further open it to modders if that's possible, in order to have the community OC makers like Aris help sate the blood lust of the dumb millenials.
  7. I read it shows up for vehicles too, which seems like a huge detractor. Nevertheless, I thought it was a very good idea and workaround. I have combat experience and I find the cleanliness is pretty off-putting. Doing BDA for an airstrike or clearing an enemy position you'll see tons of blood trails, body parts and the like. It's one of my only complains about CM's visuals. They solved my only other complaint which would be visual indications of penetrations on vehicles. My question is what's stopping them from implementing blood? This game is far too complex for kids to play anyway.
  8. Since this is a thread for discussing old hat I'd like to say I'd love to see bloode and gore in CM.
  9. The MP40 magazine release is a button where the PPSH is a paddle am I correct?
  10. I've lost a king tiger to hand grenades (no not satchels, not AT grenades)
  11. This. I really hope they reserve Korea for the next engine. I'm desperate for more Korea games.
  12. Maybe it was his best friend and he was overcome by the need to help him.
  13. Thanks for the suggestion. I find the Germans usually get first shots off with the AT guns so maybe I'll smoke initially as they break cover. I'll have to try it again after I play some other battles and get my confidence back up
  14. That's a good point about the AI having to place CCPs. I'm guessing it would have to be hand picked by the scenario designer for each mision which would probably be tedious.
  15. Please teach me how to beat 4th mission of "THE ROAD TO NIJMEGEN" campaign. 300 meters of open terrain guarded by dug in machine guns and pak40s surrounded by marsh that insta-tracks any vehicles that try to wade through it. I thought I would shell/bombard one side until I can clear it with infantry but no matter how many direct hits I can't seem to injure anyone inside. The picture I uploaded is from an airstrike that didn't kill or wound anyone. This was after a previous strafing run and a maximum barrage from 25lbers. Hopefully this hasn't been discussed too much and I appreciate any help guys.
  16. I don't think designating CCPs and having AI automatically drag wounded to it would be tedious. It would almost be entirely handled by th AI. Any troops unable to reach the CCP would obviously have a lower chance of survival.
  17. With out even reading the OP I knew this was just a 5 page argument about how "in reality the tiger sux"
  18. Absolutely nothing wrong with CMAK CMBB or CBBO. I'll probably end up buying them again so I can get DRM free versions.
  19. I don't think SEALs are appropriate but I believe a US Army Ranger battalion would be a great addition while still being a SOF unit. In any case. Separatists and Rangers are my wish.
