Mortars and command and control

C2 is definitely an area that I have to improve. Do you in general ever let a squad or section go out of c2 (except for the odd recon party)? -
Mortars and command and control

Ok thanks. And it is best to leave the indirect fire mortar teams with an hq team with a radio right? It doesn't matter if that hq team is the heavy weapons platoon hq and the mortars are from different platoons? -

A quick question. Does it make sense to leave the platoon mortar teams (60mm and the occasional 81mm) behind with the xo team (or the heavy weapons platoon hq) in order to provide indirect fire support when attacking. Or is it better to move them forward with their respective platoon hqs.

just looking at the first line paragraph of the manual.. it basically states that the squad will fight from vehicles as long as enemy fire, terrain and order will allow it. Seems a pretty strong indication that squad is expected to dismount in the face of determined resistance. In the diagram explaining the attack the squad is dismounting to fight and only using the vehicles to reach the next phase line where they again dismount to attack

The Viazma catastrophe is a great book about the battles preceding the fighting to push to Moscow. Really shows the extreme determination on the Soviet side combined with horrible command and control.

I am perfectly happy to pay for the upgrade if it means that the series remains alive. -
Normandy and Italy Updates?

Has it been confirmed that the other CM games will be patched up to same standard as CMFB? I cant seem to find any definite info on this. -

WIP "The precious few" (a five mission campaign)
kch001 replied to Glubokii Boy's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
Will you still try to do a campaign? The scenarios look really nice. I will give them a shot -
Looks great! Is it available at Greenasjade? I have also seen that Aris has created a new RT scenery pack that looks very solid

Hi.. great screenshots! What horizon are you using? Is it the vanilla one? I am using one of Aries great mods but I think it is adapted from CMFI so it is a bit too hilly for the Ukraine.

Very interesting analysis. Thank you for all the work! -
it looks awesome! Also great seeing the T34 and the kill rings on the barrel of the mk IV.

CM:BN Screenshot Thread #2
kch001 replied to Battlefront.com's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
great screenshots. Are you using any mods? I guess that you have maxed out the graphics settings. -
Disregarding the source and most of the comments on the page, then there are some interesting photos of German turrets (looks like a Panther turret). It seems like there is nothing substantial behind the mantle except for the gun mounting and the gun itself. https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/141169-gun-mantlets-do-they-have-an-armour-profile/page-2

take care!

Did you get some feedback from the Battlefront team? It does seem very weird that the mantle is so weak.

Stupid question, but how do you install this? I am also a bit surprised / annoyed with the fact that a TC seems to survive about 10 seconds on the battlefield when unbuttoned. Of course he should be vulnerable but less than he is in the standard game

Have you raised the issue as a bug or is it working as Battlefront intended? I agree with you that it is odd that the mantle is weaker than the rest of the turret front. However, I am not sure that the turret behind the mantle has much armor. As far as I understand then the idea of the mantle is to protect the gun, provide some movement while maintaining the protection and maintain the ammo in the gun under armor (at least according to wiki). So maybe it works as intended.

Interesting! Would it have been possible to change the thickness of the mantel so that it was the sum of the actual mantel plus turret front?

Thanks. I am quite surprised that they would go with sub standard armour plate, and at the same time still producing a lot of (over) engineered vehicles like the Panther/Tiger etc etc. Doesn't seem very coherent.
