I probably shouldn't even be here, it's like checking in on an old girlfriend from years past, creepy! lol
Pervert! Leave the old girlfriend alone, one suspects that she was better at CM than you were.

I've just begun the first mission. A beach landing on a great looking map. Wish my men luck.
-
My record for this mission is played - 2 drawn - 2. And both times I went down the right, calling Cease Fire before the casualties started to mount.
In fact I've just finished the campaign. With a Major Victory, the same result as four years ago. Only this time I did much worse in Mission 2, but better in Missions 3 and 6. Ho hum.

but were never able to carry all of these changes out in a uniform manner throughout the army, with the result that no two German divisions actually had the exact same TO&E, even if they were of the same type of division. .
Well, would you Adam 'n' Eve it?

Yeah, I love watching the action unfold for the whole minute without touching the camera. Then just playing back as often as I like from whatever angle, it's the beauty of WEGO.

Is that an agriculture reference thrown in here?
Yes, it is. Luckily I have a copy of Engine 3 so if I want to go back to Normandy anytime soon I can.

I haven't heard anything new since the end of July. So it looks like it might not happen before next dung spreading. Ho hum.

My understanding has always been that upgrading mid-game can cause problems. But, perhaps someone else can give you more advice. As for me I am going to wait until I finish the campaign.

Although this video was made using Engine 2 it gives you a good idea of the basics. Changes that have been made to the mechanics of the game since this, will be explained in the Engine Manual pdf that comes with the game.
I can't answer your first question I'm afraid as I am still running Red Thunder on Engine 3.

Essential viewing.

That kind of start would have been a tad annoying for anyone.

I don't wish to be contentious, but I've yet to see a Mius Front video as entertaining as this.

"I don't want to start a contentious debate here". The title of this thread suggests otherwise.

This is a superb video contrasting common depictions in war movies of how infantry carried their weapons against real period sources and photographic evidence. Has lots of useful pictures, including squad movement through drainage ditches in Normandy, British infantry in assault configuration complete with T-handled full size shovels, GIs advancing, Germans in city fighting and the famous BoB StG44 equipped SS moving past burning US halftrack, plus images and text from German, US and British manuals and even training film. Also describes several sites where excellent information on particulars of weapon handling in WW II are covered. Not only is this information helpful for skins and terrain info, , not to mention potential VO chrome via German command to get down, but I believe it could be fed into the soldier animations. Might be interesting to explore animations for prisoner handling upon capture, too. Have read the GIs commonly cut the belt of prisoners, so they'd have to use their hands to hold up their pants, greatly limiting opportunities for mischief!

John KettlerAn interesting watch. Thanks for sharing it.

It's good to know you don't care about it, though.

I never use them, I think they look ugly, like green candy floss. But, one man's "must have" mod, is another man's "no thanks" mod.

Great job on these maps Pete and company!
I have to second that. The maps are brilliant.

I've reached the final mission, which is going well. Lots of long range tank kills, whilst my arty is pummeling the hamlets, so I'm certainly hoping for a better result than I got four years ago. Of the previous four missions in three I did better than before. But, I took a good kicking in mission two.

So, pray tell, did they shop owner stick to his word?
He did indeed. In the meantime I hope the people who have pre-ordered Rome to Victory will be enjoying it soon.

It looks like a cricket pitch roller in the background, near the fenced off piece of ground, although it probably isn't.

At some point 'fog of war' is going to kick in. You the commander can't be expected to know every single microterrain detail of the ground you'll be fighting over. You reconnoiter, make note of favorable positions and plan accordingly. Something that may be difficult if you play the game at camera level 3 or 4 all the time. If this is designed to be a realistic tactical sim the fewer 'crutches' the better. If something seems difficult perhaps its because... its difficult!
Hear hear.

At the top of the page I was very confused, as I am currently playing this campaign myself.
"30" should be the type of Panzerfaust. Although to be fair you are not the first to think that it meant the quantity.
