  1. I'm sorry if i came off as offensive, that was not my intention. I do agree with you about pause abuse Erwin.
  2. Please do release them! Have you got anything covering the AO of TF Helmand, wouldn't mind seeing some familiar sites again...
  3. I've only played against the AI, but so far I prefer real time, i don't know something about having similar limitations as i would have in real life is appealing to me, not being able to take forever to plan every single move. Replay option seems like a cheat to me, if you missed what made your tank go boom or where exactly the shot came from - you missed it, simple as that. Needless to say in RT i can not effectively play scenarios that put more than a strengthened company under my command.
  4. I wish there was a VBS 2 for home users, Arma 3 sucks...
  5. Would make sense to have company/battalion level mortars on map, given that map sizes are probably bigger than they are in Shock Force.
  6. So i was playing Street Sweepers (should be TF Thunder mission 13) when i noticed my troops stopped moving and became frozen in "Planning" stage and my FPS dropped, i could still hear some spotting rounds landing and i managed to blast a wall but the troops did not move through the hole they created, all infantry units are frozen and the timer is still ticking (playing in real time)... Any idea what might be causing this?
  7. CMBN probably, that thing has just so many scenarios and campaigns both official and user made that you are bound to find some to suit your tastes. Besides bocage fighting in itself is a series of small engagements. What battles sizes are we talking about anyway, as a real time player myself i find commanding up to a company with attachments quite feasible.
  8. One of the 7%, CMSF was my first combat mission, probably saw it on Paradox site a long time ago and got interested, kinda forgot about it for a while because i couldn't afford it, then started earning money, rediscovered it somehow and bought the whole set (USMC, Brits and NATO). Of couse CMBN and CMFI were out by that time as well so i had to get those as well. Glad i did too.
  9. You can get RoF for free by the way, it has 2 flyables (SPAD 13 and D.Va) both in singleplayer and multiplayer, rest of the planes must be bought. I quite like the damage model in it. However there are some inconsistencies with the German flight models, i'm no expert, but apparently some German aircraft are underperforming and since active development has more or less ceased in favour of Il-2 BoS it is unlikely to change.
  10. I've never played Wings over Flanders fields, however there is another great WWI flight sim called Rise of Flight which is really awesome. The new Il-2 Battle of Stalingrad is using the same engine as well.
  11. Falcon 4 with BMS mod is really great, sadly DCS doesn't yet have any contemporary fighter jets with clickable cockpits so BMS fills that gap for me.
  12. I got CMAK a few months ago, i was really impressed with the amount of scenarios, ranging from North Africa to Market Garden and beyond also gotta love the amount of units.
  13. Flaming Cliffs 3 (which is the latest version of Lock On content really) is the easiest of DCS products to get into, every other aircraft module has advanced systems modelling which means clickable cockpits, realistic startup/stop sequences, engine management, weapons employment etc, whereas in Flaming Cliffs only the major systems are modelled in a more simplified way. For example in the P-51 it is even possible to fry the starter if you get the startup sequence wrong... Personally i really like that and am looking forward to the imminent release of Fw-190 D-9, F-86 and Mig-21Bis. Though above all i'd like to see contemporary aircraft such as F/A-18, Mirage etc.
  14. Combined Arms is not a sim, it just makes ground units controllable you play it through the F10 map interface mainly and it feels kinda gimmicky at the moment. Units still have health bars and you get pretty wild stuff happening such as T-55 killing M1A1 with HE rounds as they are currently bugged etc. They recently added laser rangefinders for tanks, hopefully they will get around to improving it even further in the future.
  15. Well, i for one never play turn based, even in CM.... so Mius front will be awesome.
  16. I'd still strongly advise trying the PE version of Steel Beasts if you want cold war gone hot scenarios (late cold war anyway), i never played the original, but there are scenarios for PE that allow commanding a company and larger units, granted that it does not have much of a strategy game interface compared to CM. eSim now allows for more flexible subscription, for instance you can get a one month subscription for 9.50 USD just to see if it is your cup of tea or not, don't have to get the rather expensive stick outright.
  17. I quite like it, mainly for the operational level it provides, even though it could use some work, that said i am looking forward to Mius front.
  18. There is actually a major interface overhaul in the works for Histwar: Napoleon, however the devs ran into difficulties and haven't really heard peep from them in a while.
  19. I started that mission by moving my MGS and a sniper team to the taxiing area (the wide open area with the little tower at the entrance), AI went a little nuts and started charging at my vehicles across open ground, needless to say they were blown to bits. Those vehicles kept providing accurate fire support throught the mission, as soon as the enemy opened up they got a 105 mm to the face, later on i moved some other vehicles to assist my MGS platoon. With my infantry i started clearing the buildings at the main entrance. I didn't even get to assault SF HQ before the enemy surrendered. I always made sure i had a Mk19 equipped Stryker in the best covering position before i moved my infantry up as well. As far as breaching buildings go i wish there was something that could be done to reduce tunnel vision the soldiers get. Movement should be as fast as possible with the first two guys in checking the corners left and right of the doorway
  20. CMSF for me i think, i simply get the biggest kick out of conducting aggressive mechanised infantry assaults, battles sizes in CMSF are more real time friendly as well. Plus all the different TOEs offer so much variety. Besides watching a Javelin launch is the most satisfying thing ever. Being an active duty infantryman, it is also interesting for me to see the strengths and weaknesses of different unit structures.
  21. Certainly enjoyed the military aspect of HoI 3, best of the series, i simply love that it is realtime as well. The only operational game i really play is Command Ops, it feels kinda similar to the military aspect of HoI 3, only on a smaller, more detailed scale. A fusion of the two would be awesome.
