  1. In FOGII, better units are also much less likely to fail their morale checks, so are less likely to get into a panic ripple. What does work is to target units that are disordered, rather than to attack units that are low quality. I find FOGII gameplay to be quite simplistic and more like chess than a simulation of ancient warfare. But about your question, I think that in general, both ancient and WW2 warfare was about isolating the enemy units and defeat them piecemeal. If you kill or drive off all the peasant spearmen, the small group of armoured elites won't be able to stand forever. If you bypass the bunker on the hill, it will soon be destroyed or surrender. That being said, ancient battles were definitely more about morale and panic ripples than modern warfare. But army morale is about so much more than about which units get taken out first. It's about exhaustion, empty bellies, rumours, superstition and religion, reasons to be angry, general's speeches, greed for plunder, weather etc.
  2. It's not about waypoint discipline.. I always did it the recommended way with a waypoint before and after the bridge, and never really had trouble until now after the recent patches.
  3. Even if two teams are in the same square, they unfortunately can't point and say "Look, the tank is right there". The best they can do is to share the spotting contact info, which is supposed to make it easier for the other team to get a spot, but doesn't guarantee it. I think it sounds strange that the binoculars team could not get a spot even after six minutes, but it could be due to how the individual team members position themselves inside the square. If they went prone behind a short wall for example, they wouldn't spot anything, binos or not.
  4. Spotting info is shared almost instantaneously, but there's a bug in the system that means vehicle contact info isn't shared if the vehicle moved since it was first spotted. Maybe that's what you're seeing.
  5. I think they do tactical reloads though. Pretty sure I noticed once that some guys that had been sitting in the same spot without enemy contact suddenly started to reload. Was surprised because I thought it wasn't in the game.
  6. It's not really anything I'd prefer them to spend their time working on, since apparently they literally have a list of 10,000 other issues that could be fixed or improved. But a basic animation of stabbing with bayonets or the stock of a rifle and the outcome being determined by experience, fatigue, and morale + a random element could work.
  7. It happens sometimes in confused city or forest fighting. Happened in my bout with Josey Wales for example. Doesn't need to be prolonged either - sometimes they will only notice they need to reload once they enter the building and fire off a couple of shots.
  8. I think it was rare but probably happened more often than we think... both in urban fighting and when assaulting, sometimes soldiers could suddenly find themselves head to head with enemies at extreme close range, in a room of a building or when jumping into an enemy trench and being caught between reloads for example.
  9. They could buy ready-made animations for a whole lot less than a wheelbarrow of cash. It's not 1990's anymore. "A set of 53 motion capture animations of crouching and proning for a character with rifle." Price: €13.40 https://assetstore.unity.com/3d/animations?category=3d%2Fanimations&q=soldier&orderBy=1
  10. Problem is, in CM, troops do break, but they don't run. You can still order them right back into battle. And while they are not as good as fresh troops, they can still fight. I've completed some Normandy beach scenarios where all my teams were broken at the end, but I could still storm enemy trenches. Had to keep ordering them back, of course, but it could be done. I don't think any shouting from Napoleon would have won his final battle.
  11. The pipeline after RT, per Steve: CM Final Blitzkrieg Module. This will take the Western Front from the Rein to the Elbe. CM Black Sea Module. Picture US Marines, Ukrainian VDD, and Russia VDV forces added to the mix. CM Red Thunder Battle Pack. A bunch of battles for the late Summer 1944 time period was started a while back and is now moving forward again. At least one more Battle Pack, yet to be determined. I'm taking their pipeline with a pinch of salt. Especially after the military contract, I could imagine some of those priorities got changed.
  12. I don't think they are really producing much new stuff for the modern titles, more that they keep them busy anyway, porting to Steam and supporting the military contract. I'm just hoping the military guys with deep pockets start to point out some of the same issues gamers have been mentioning, so they can get fixed and hopefully get backported to the other titles.
  13. It seems like the focus of BFC is now the modern warfare titles. Both with the recent Steam move and with their military contract. WW2 has been put on the backburner.
  14. This sounds strange to me because mods only replace existing textures or sounds. If the modder didn't include a floor in his mod then what will happen is that you will simply see the default floor texture since it was no changed. In order for the floor to disappear, the modder would have to go out of his way to create a texture for the floor and then actually make it transparent . I believe you when you say it happened to you but this is odd. From the readme: "Notes and issues: Bases have been removed, which makes the buildings look more natural, and less propped-up. Having no bases allowed me to add grass, other foliage and a few doodads around the base, hopefully adding to the realism. There is one issue that effects buildings 1,2,7 and 8. Removing the bases on those buildings also removes the interior flooring. Scenario designers can reduce the effect of this by placing the building on a terrain type that won’t look so unusual indoors. I feel this is a pretty minor issue compared to the improvement of having the bases removed." https://www.thefewgoodmen.com/cm-mod-warehouse/combat-mission-battle-for-normandy/cmbn-scenery/tanks-a-lots-cmbn-buildings/
  15. Also, even with good mods, the core graphics engine is still the same. If I made a list of all the things that break immersion in this game, bland textures would be way down the list compared to terrain dropping to low detail some distance from the camera, flickering shadows that turn on and off depending on camera angle, some terrain not being affected by fog and therefore sticking out like a sore thumb, etc.
  16. But are those mods made for CMFB or just mods for CMBN that you copied to CMFB? Did you ever verify that they actually work?
  17. If you look at the texture of the hole on the tank, it shows the pattern of a HEAT round. By the way, I just saw a Panther penetrate a Sherman on the front hull using 75mm regular HE
  18. I don't think there was ever an Aris pack for CMFB. I tried using some of his CMBN mods for CMFB, but found they didn't work, or only worked halfway - Panthers with modded hulls but stock textures for the turret etc.
  19. Because mods often cause problems. I was using the TanksaLot modded buildings, and found some of the roof textures would be on the wrong way - turned 90 degrees from what they should be. Also, the modded buildings remove the floor in some cases, so you have grass and flowers growing indoors. And there's also the problem that when you mod in something that is much more detailed than the rest of the graphics, those buildings can then seem out of place compared to the rest of the game. This also goes for tanks - a super detailed Panther next to a bland stock texture Panzer IV seems weird. As for terrain, I tried a couple of terrain mods and quickly uninstalled them again - I simply thought they looked ugly and not realistic. Part of the reason was that the scaling seemed off. The grass texture was clearly a picture of, well, grass, but scaled so the grass plants were way bigger than they should be compared to the soldiers. So it felt more like playing with toy soldiers in a garden than any real warfare.
  20. Wouldn't it be easier if you PM'd me? With your email address so I could send you the save game files.
  21. I can show savegames of course. But it needs someone to say hey, here's my email, send your savegame to me. I'm seeing guys keep walking with the suppression meter nearly halfway full. One thing that might confuse you is that the suppression meter updates a bit slow. So, a team takes a burst of MG fire, they drop down prone, and only then the meter updates to show the suppression.
