  1. I believe it's random. A bit like some tanks get sandbags on the front, and some don't.
  2. I recommend you just set up two jeeps, one with the windscreen up, the other with it down, and then shoot at them from the front. When I tested it, the one with the windscreen up survived way longer than the other one. Because the windscreen is bulletproof.
  3. Cuáles modificaciones de los sonidos usas, por favor? Me gusta como suena el motor del Sherman.
  4. Back in 2017 when I tested this, I found that it's the magical bulletproof windshield that protects the passengers. Jeeps with the windshield down were killed extremely fast by MG fire, but when the windshield was up, they survived a very long time unless they backed off and turned their side to the firer. There's of course also the question of how many MG bullets it would take to knock out the engine from the front.
  5. Thanks. I had not considered that the aim point would be in the middle of the beaten zone. I assumed it would be at the point of furthest reach. Testing with Flame Shermans, I find I can target out to 66m, and the furthest splash will go to about 78m.
  6. Very true. Another example being "straggler companies" that serve no real purpose. If I'm making a scenario about a straggler company, I can just use a regular company and strip out the mortars and set equipment level to poor to get rid of some squad automatic weapons.
  7. Nope, that was about the flame haltrack. This one is about the modified Hetzer In the case of the halftrack, sources said the in-game range was correct, but it seemed strange to me that the range should be shorter than other German vehicles using the same flame projector. In the case of the Flammpanzer 38, the sources seem to say the range should be longer than it currently is in the game. I only discovered now that this vehicle also has too short range. Didn't test it when posting about the haltrack earlier.
  8. In the game, the Flammpanzer 38 has a range of 48 metres. However, it seems it should be 60 metres: When firing ignited oil, which was ignited by a blank cartridge (known as ‘Zuendpatrone’), the range increased to 60 meters. http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww2-nazi_germany-flammpanzer-38t/ Citing: Osprey Publishing, New Vanguard #15: Flammpanzer German Flamethrowers 1941-45
  9. I used to play like you, back when I started played CMBN intensively. After a while, I learnt that suppressing/assaulting a hedgerow is actually only something you do as a last resort. The way I see it: Best option: Direct fire 60mm mortars or equivalent. Second best: Shoot it out. You need a good base of fire at less than about 200m distance. No area fire - let them choose their own targets. After the enemy stops shooting back, you send over a scout team or two. Third best: Pour on enormous amounts of suppressive fire and make them fall back from the hedgerow. Not effective against human players who can order the squads back up. Fourth: Probably the suppress/assault drill. However, even heavily supressed enemies can often fire back when you get close. I don't think there's any SOP that will guarantee a safe hedgerow assault.
  10. When we play this game, we don't just play as the commander - we play on every level down to individual scout teams. So while the commander won't know every detail of the terrain, those with boots on the ground will know it quite well. At least their own little area. Games are played on a 2D screen. They need to assist the players to orient themselves and interact the game world. CM is no different.
  11. I much prefer some good basic shading rather than to have to read and interpret contour lines. Here's an example of a 2D image where there's no doubt how the landscape goes.
  12. I think you may be right. But in that case, I'm assuming it would be better for the leader's team to open fire anyway, at least at shorter ranges where both rifles and SMG can work...
  13. It's in CMFB in a new scenario I'm making. Please PM with your email. By the way, I confirmed what you found about German 75mm in direct fire role. the slow ROF and the pinpoint accuracy.
  14. OK, nothing wrong with 4.02 than. I'm happy picnic simulation has finally been included
  15. My situation is different - when I check, there is a blue target line, and I can manually order my unit to fire. But they don't shoot on their own. I'm thinking this behaviour is something new - I don't recall ever seeing it in version 3.12.
  16. I'm not an expert, but would you open fire at 80 or 100m in dense forest? No, I would just drink tea with the Germans until they got tired of their picnic and went home. But then again I am a quite peaceful guy in real life.
  17. Sure and if bolt action rifles were laser guided they would be a lot better too. It is not that easy to control the size of bursts on full auto - if the weapon doesn't have something built in. And it is not that easy to make small intentional adjustments to your aim while the weapon is chewing through rounds and chucking casings out the side. I do believe it's possible for assault rifles to fire in shorter bursts and adjust aim in between. I also believe it's possible to adjust aim somewhat while firing a submachinegun burst at short ranges.
  18. Completely agree. If auto weapons could fire in shorter bursts and adjust their aim mid-burst, they'd be a lot better than they are now.
  19. Remember that tanks are really bad at spotting infantry, especially in buildings, unless they open fire. Even infantry has a hard time spotting enemy soldiers in houses. Recon by fire is a good idea, but the enemy inf will not fire back at tanks. So what you need to do is to get your tanks in positions of overwatch and then open fire with one or two teams of infantry. They should draw fire from the houses, leading to the tanks spotting and engaging the enemy. By the way, you posted this in the opponent finder forum. Probably you'd get more response in the main forum
  20. I had the same problem and had to revert to Gsync, which then induces flickering...
  21. I can't recall ever seeing anyone on this forum claiming they "hate" CM. Dissatisfaction with parts of it, sure.
