  1. Testing C2 with a BMP formation and I found that dismounted infantry very quickly lost contact with their platoon leader and with their personal BMPs (Iron difficulty). I felt that this was odd and was doing some searching and found that (apparently) each squad leader would be equipped with a personal radio (R-126, R-352) for dismounted use. This handheld radio acted as a link between the dismounted squad leader and his personal BMP. The BMPs internal radio then connected with the rest of the formation. So in this instance Coy Commander at top, PL at bottom right: The entire platoon and Coy Commander should be connected. But in-game a large portion of the formation is shown as out of C2. They would be in communication via a long game of telephone but they would be in connection regardless and the individual squads would seem to be decently connected to their individual vehicle. For instance, if the Plt. Leader wished to communicate to his personal BMP he would be able to while dismounted. Further if he wanted to communicate to Squad 2 he could. Plt. Leader -> PL BMP -> Squad 2 BMP -> Squad 2 and then back Squad 2 -> Squad 2 BMP -> PL BMP -> PL ---- Is there any reason that this is not being modeled or am I missing something?
  2. So... When I press the "Open Up" button in the editor I see the vehicles open up. The animation plays. Yet when I then load up the same map in the battle mode (with scenario author mode) they are not opened up.
  3. I'm trying to get AI vehicles to start a scenario opened up but can't seem to get them to do so. Is there anyway to force them to start opened up?
  4. One of the things we are missing from CM is the ability to blast "doors" rather than removing entire walls.
  5. Yea, I just found it an odd way of phrasing since MGs cannot be used defensively by dismounted crew and was wondering if I'd been missing something.
  6. You can combine the Hunt command with an Armored Arc. This will cause it to ignore infantry and target vehicles.
  7. I was looking through the manual for Red Thunder recently had found this tidbit: I tried getting this to work in a few tests but no luck. What is this referencing? It seems to be saying that crew can use SMG for anti-infantry defense in the same way another tank may use a co-axial or hull MG.
  8. It would seem to me that you could add a second type of window that was enterable while keeping the standard ones unenterable. So like: Windows: Can be fired out of but not entered Doors: Can't be fired out of but can be entered New Window: Can be fired out of and can be entered
  9. I do want to point out that if you had read the designer's notes either before or after the battle you would see that the historical outcome of this scenario was a Soviet failure.
  10. Here is another image from the same scenario: Highlighted are 3 different squads showing the same issue. Notice the topmost squad has the spare man in the adjacent building
  11. https://imgur.com/a/L6J9Zi7 The image speaks for itself. But essentially when ordered into a structure one man will move to just outside the door. Quite often getting himself killed since he loses both the concealment and cover bonus from the building. I've seen this happen a few times in SF2 Canadian Campaign. Has anyone seen it crop up anywhere else/has there been any comment on it? I have a vague memory of it occurring in Black Sea but need to test
  12. They seem to match the Steam sale but tend to be 1-7 days late on actually matching it and sometimes leave the sale up past the Steam sale. I suspect it has to be manually entered on the site and no one is in a hurry to do it. So far only games that are on Steam have a sale here.
  13. Hi, On the CM Discord I've seen a few people mention that they cannot view the maps and mods subforum when not logged in. I'm fairly sure that isn't intended so just wanted to bring it up. The image the person is seeing:
  14. @Aragorn2002 Some weirdness with the quote system but the above post is for you.
  15. Part of the issue with CM is that you are playing from multiple roles. You are the Coy Commander You are the Plt Leader You are the SL You are the FTL You are the lone soldier with a panzerfaust You wear a lot of hats and what makes sense from one perspective doesn't from another, and that Tac-AI while decent at being reactive as no sense of continuity or planning. ------ A target LOS tool that let you set: Spotter height Target height Would be a boon - especially because CM is not actually 1:1 but has a lot of fuzziness built into the spotting.
  16. I can't think why not -- but the game won't reflect that visual when doing LOS and LOF calcs. It will still act as if the tree has leaves.
  17. This assumes the game actually models that. The simpler solution would be for the "cover objects" to just eat bullets below a certain caliber.
  18. Graviteam actually has all of those things - its just easier to miss because you are giving orders at a scale up from CM. You need far less micro and the infantry is generally better able to handle itself given vague directions. Whereas in CM vague directions will get everyone killed.
  19. My test was done in Black Sea (I used IRON difficulty mode to ensure they were out of contact + High EW) and I could not get small-arms to cause casualties. I'm on Steam version. What verson of FI are you on?
  20. My guess is that its because that its not a "small-arm". The gun is listed as an HMG so that may change how the FF system interacts with it. Also it could possible be a stray shot, shrapnel, a sniper, etc... that happened to get the kill just as your HMG was firing.
  21. I ran a quick test and wasn't able to get this to trigger with small-arms. IIRC friendly fire is based on weapon type and given that this is an HMG it might be able to cause friendly fire. Edit: Because the example is a tank firing its coaxial it probably counts as a different weapon-type for FF calculations.
  22. Thanks! Fair. IIRC infantry have reduced effect because of simulation limitations. Regardless it would be nice for artillery to do some system damage even if that damage needs to be reduced some extent.
