  1. I read that often if you donate to a kickstart project, you get a reward such as the final product or something special. If we donate a specified amount ($55) would it be for sure we get the new module "free"? Not sure how this works...
  2. MethodGamer: You've lost to him 12 times? Would you mind giving us a quick self critique? For example...Do you not read the briefing and didn't understand the objective of the scenarios and lost by points? Or were they QB's and you purchased poorly and brought a knife to a gunfight? Or on the attack did you make rash moves and get slaughtered? This isn't your first mission so it is not like we have to explain the basics, right? Ian is a very methodical player from observing him in one battle. He will blast away at a suspected position with tank fire until 110% sure of destruction. This will be fun because I hope we can help you kick his a$$. But because of his reading your posts it is very limited in what we can do. He'll see any special tricks we recommend. Here is a recommendation. Open up the same exact scenario as a hot seat head to head battle and you will play both sides. I know you can see Ian's stuff but handling the enemy from his vantage point is a good way to see things in my opinion. Make your passwords a simple single letter like x. You want to see the feedback to various things right away and the 24 hours per turn will be a big obstacle. If this is just to have an AAR then no problem. But you are calling in lots of inputs. You can actually try 5 different guy's ways of some particular move if you play against yourself and use save turns to go back and change what you do. Don't forget to give us the self critique!
  3. I really tried to copy what I saw! I even named them: the lady's high heel shoe, the swan, the skinny beeked bird, donald duck, the dove. Now I will play seamstress and cut it into patterns to make the shelter quarter draped over the soldier using the greatcoat mdr. I have rivets and tassles ready for where needed. I have a hood. benpark told me how to ease troubles when making the normal map. But I gotta go finish a Valkenswaard southern suburbs map so this project will chill a few days...
  4. Well, the one that seems to work best for me is crazybump. benpark gave me some tips on how to use it. Thanks ben. I have the free demo for 30 days. Maybe I will be finished with it by then and not have to pay for anything.
  5. I didn't like how it turned out for the Hungarian shelter quarter using photos of the camo, so I made my own.
  6. As I understand it, the water tiles are all the same elevation because if they were not then some type of flowing downhill water issue would arise. So, that was avoided as a coding burden and nightmare on how to display it by just keeping all water at the same elevation, no matter where on the map. (In game design and software development there is probably some term for that approach. Like in movies where a giant plot hole issue is solved by interjecting some stupid thing...) So, my walnut brain sees that if some new type snow terrain tile idea borrows coding from how they did water and we get foot steps left behind, I don't see where that also means the snow must also be restricted to the same elevation. Right? So I don't think it is a dead end.
  7. I have heard from fairly reliable sources that in the WW2 Canadian Army, every soldier assigned to Italy had a pack to carry his hockey gear, battle or no battle. Skates, pucks, special Mk7 folding hockey stick, Jersey, mouthguard and cup (interchangeable!). Most packs were obtained through discarded US Army packs found alongside the road outside Naples. OK, I was only joking. Here is the actual pack carried. Sadly, hardly enough room to carry your Rush and Bachman Turner Overdrive CD collection.
  8. OK, Allied team made their moves. Edit: Axis automatic defensive fire occurred and the allies lost 13 men. I will post a screenshot that is FOW neutral. Kind of difficult to walk down the top of the fence here and not spill info to either side. And allied team declared an assault into the 5 point town hex coming out of hex (1,7) where we just had the battle. Basically moving up the Road to..(yes, you guessed it!)...to Eindhoven. So, I will finalize the map and get the units all prepared.
  9. I love that AMTRAK-SKI train station at the bottom with the elevated tunnel. Very imaginative use of the map editor!
  10. I want a schwimmwagen. Better be in the game! Better actually float too! If they also put in the M29 weasel then we are a step closer to naval combat. A map with only water and one side gets schwimmwagens and one side weasels. Ice? Are we gonna get ice? Maybe more for the east front? Leningrad Campaign I guess....
  11. So, does the BFC "team" all work from their own homes from various places around the globe? Or is there a cool office and they have posters up and sit around and have a beer together after a long day of working on the new Bulge game? And maybe guys run in with a German parka and lay it on the table to take HD photos of it in some back room? Those German Y-straps always look like actual photographs on the file bmp's to me at least. Or maybe they just work from separately via the "cloud" and do a lot of conference calls.... that would suck, I'd want to be face to face and have the beers.
  12. I am working out how to make new normal map files for my uniforms with scalloped pocket flaps. It will just be one of those things where you have to stop everything to learn how to use an entirely separate program to pump out the file format I need back here in CMRT. It is a bit frustrating and my first easy reaction is to just ditch this entire project. But deep down I really want to learn how to mod these uniforms so I will not give up. But it will take a while. Recoloring existing uniforms is no problem. The normal files stay the same. Significant changes to a uniform need a new normal map or the details just don't pop out on screen.
  13. In Bruce's other thread to report this bug, ASL Veteran replied and said he recalled that BFC people all decided at some point that US soldiers looked silly in CMBN to have packs on in combat and someone "turned it off" for CMFI so to speak. But they were too busy to go and do this for all the other nations or something like that or to go back to change it for CMBN. I paraphrased what he said so perhaps that is not the actual purity of what they did but it seems rather oddly done. Kiwi soldiers in CMFI GL came out after initial CMFI right ? But they have packs on and probably other nations do as well. Oh well. In the navy we called this "configuration control"...where somewhere at some higher authority (called NAVSEA) it was expected that the specific ship's exact machinery configuration was 100% completely known. All their equipment models and alterations and field changes were known and if they had received them...Obviously it was always a shock when a team arrived and the ship had a configuration somewhat different than that tracked up at NAVSEA. The folders in these games have probably slipped away from configuration control. There are some weird bmp files that float along for no apparent reason. Maybe not causing an on screen bug but just clutter that never gets swept out but rolled along into the next game! My personal favorite is a half-finished greatcoat bmp file... Now people are having coffee and someone decides the backpacks don't need to be visible but all the US backpack images still stay in the folders. So bottomline, it is not a bug. NO COMBAT MISSION MOUSE PAD!
  14. Hi Kieme, Do you have a moment to walk me through it? I read the tutorial but it confuses me. I think it says it takes a normal map or height map as a TGA format file only and makes it an SSBump file? I think I have just a BMP file and want a BMP file in a format as a normal map or maybe really it is a bump map? I need to save my uniform bmp as a *.TGA first?
  15. Axis completed their moves. Allied automatic defensive fire popped off as the axis units moved killing 2 axis troops. Axis had no assaults to declare and the Luftwaffe didn't make an appearance and no axis artillerie was fired. Turn 1 is completed. It is now the top of the 2nd inning. Turn 2 of 6
  16. Can I use "SS Bump Generator" in CMRT? CMRT doesn't have SS yet. OK, that was a joke. I will download and play with it. Thanks Kieme. Grazie.
  17. I have Photoshop cs3. I have made some new bmp's for uniforms and have new pocket shapes for Hungarian troops. So, I need a new normal map so it looks its best. My cs3 has no quick transformer ability like newer versions of photoshop. I tried to install an nvidia normal map plug-in but it never shows in my filters. I tried an online generator by cpetry.github.io but it gave me a very noisy normal map. Lots of tiny blotches on my final onscreen image. I tied another program crazybump and it looked better but it didn't really pop out the details. Is the BFC normal map really a normal map or is it a bump map? Anyway, in my cs3 it does show image-adjustments-gradient map (and various color schemes that look very close to the BFC normal maps but not exactly). You can pick orange with blue, red with green. weird. I am lost in the forest. Please help me find my way. Thanks
  18. Flares: I tried an experiment (which failed obviously). I was in CMFI. Night time. I had US paratroopers defending against a German attack. In the scenario editor I bought 5 burning jeeps and set them as R1 reinforcement group at T=5 minute arrival. Deployed out along where the Germans would be walking by. The "flares" appeared and made a shimmery burning glow but alas the loop is not closed to the spotting system to make them visible to the defenders...
  19. Jorge MC, Sure, I will try it. Gracias. Do you have a photoshop layer of barbed wire only image to apply over helmets? I have been doing the magic wand tool to try and pull it free from stock helmet. I always lose too many shading pixels.
  20. I dropped S from 87 to 70 and G from 189 to 164
  21. I have my [WIP] Hungarian zeltbahn! I need to give it some benpark magic. Some texture and wrinkles. And then go back and do my laundry list of other stuff. scalloped pockets, buttons, cap, shadows, And normal maps for all the changed stuff. Never did that before...
  22. Check that all your yellow setup squares for the reinforcement unit are in a colored map set up zone.
  23. ...they work on "The Fog"? ...well I will be ready with the Adrienne Barbeau mod!
  24. I am also very excited and enjoying this hobby more than ever. My post was meant to try to energize some folks to do some creating and formulating because you never know what might trickle out of the sky. Like Tempestxxx said, we have most of the stuff now and in a small scale objective would only need a few things. The folks who care can/should get cracking and make the lists to decide what those things are.
