  1. I certainly hope that you are successful, if not with the scenario which is date sensitive but at least with the map which shouldn't be since fortifications are not part of the map and that would be all that should change. Even time of year should not matter as long a snow or whatever could be added in the game that the map is used in. Mods should also be universal to the game family as long as it is the same engine and the same piece of equipment. It also could be a tool that BF makes and sells to accomplish this, I would certainly be willing to buy it. One more way for BF to make a buck. I would be all for it.
  2. Patton goes East would be a blast. Of course the US would have to adopt the shreck or 3.5 in bazooka.
  3. I don't know how hard it would be but I think it would be great to be able to swap maps between the various games that BF is producing or a map conversion tool to go between the various games. There is a map tool for CMBO, CmBB and CMAK that allows this but dont know if something like that would work for the CM2 games. The present games are being updated and changed on a regular basis so that might preclude a viable map tool?
  4. Yeah I would. There would have to be something in the program to where a smoke round would only be used if it were head to head. I'm sure BF has got plenty of other programming to do but it was a thought. Still be fun to see. Or maybe being able to manualy select smoke instead of AP.
  5. Interesting link John. Note the water cooled 50s. Must have had a very long burst capability and been a hell of an anti personnel weapon and it continued into the Korean war. Hope we see them in the game. Georgie
  6. It would be interesting to see that portrayed in the game. Not on every encounter of course but once in awhile when a Sherman encounters a German tank. Be it Tiger 1, Tiger 2 or Panther. Roll of the dice sort of thing.
  7. If I remember correctly. There was an AA version of the M2 HT, it was fitted with a 37mm plus 2 50cal. I believe that they were included in CM1.
  8. Calling all tank grogs. Did the Americans, British or Russians ever field a tank that could fight the King Tiger head on and come out on top? Maybe this question is a little bit ahead of the "Game" but its something that I have wondered about and maybe others have also. I know that during the Bulge we didn't and if the King Tigers had not run out of gas then the Bulge might have just worked for the Germans.
  9. Thank you Buzz, yes there has been a lot of good info posted on this tread just like most all of the threads here. I enjoy the personnel experiences that members post and the links to more info. There is a large store of knowledge on this forum and it is always interesting and enlightening to read it and oftentimes surprising at the first hand knowledge that is here. A little off the subject but not worth a thread of its own. I have a Garand and and have always been a bit uncomfortable with the peep sight. It works well at range but seem like it would have been a more effective combat rife at close to medium range with open sights. Any thoughts on that? Georgie
  10. Good to hear that, its a good start but how do they get the M14 where its needed if its only 2 per platoon. It would be "hey Mac get with platoon and bring up the M14s. There is a house up here that we are getting fire from, ops too late were falling back, cant pierce the damn walls" Seems like 2per squad would make a differance.
  11. Seems like I have read accounts of this actually playing out IRL. What a come down it must have been for the Speznatz if it actually happed IRL. I wonder if our military took notice and if it did just discounted it as a fluke.
  12. When making a map if a hill is terminated at the edge of the map then a stair step appears on the edge even though the slope leading to the edge is smooth. Any way around this?
  13. Good article and it clears up some of the conceptions or misconceptions that I had about the Carbine. I've seen pictures of German troops carrying M1 carbines. I wonder if they had occasion to use them very much and what the results were?
  14. I have read a lot of cons about the M1 carbine but not any pros. Too light a bullet, not enough velocity. Seems like it , in a lot of cases, would have been more effective than the pistol cartridge sub machine guns of the day.
  15. Maybe he could aim better that way if only once. Notice the German with the Lugar. Even then they recognized the superiority of pistols against the deadly tank crews.
  16. Beautiful job BF. Just started a huge map with a lot of elevation changes with some of them 200m or so. The map tool produces a very realistic slope. Its gonna be much easier to make a presentable map now. Problem is I gotta redo the ones I already made with CMBN when the update comes out. Thats ok thou cause itl be fun to improve the old ones. And the auto road build. Excellent.
  17. Is this just a graphics problem on the Garand ejecting a full clip. How prevalent is it. I haven't seen it but wasn't looking. If the graphic of the full clip being ejected is an accurate representation and no rounds have been fired then thats not good. May be its the first example of weapons malfunction in the game. Or should I be feeling a slight tug on my leg.
  18. Looks like the faust was very effective IRL , even the first one with only a 30m range. When the 60m and 100m range fausts make their apperance in the game it may change the way battles are fought especially the small ones with a lot of close in fighting. An allied tank wont be able to get away with a 60m or a 100m fighting range. Good by close range cavalry tactics.
  19. "Now you understand why you see so many late war Shermans festooned with sandbags, logs and other items intended to dissipate the awful power of the Panzerfaust's projectile." Did these makeshift protection items do any good as protection against the faust? I have read that they didn't but the tankers of the time must have thought that they did or they were desperate.
  20. Calling Faust grogs. The first fausts with a 30m range dont seem to offer too much of a threat to tanks. But later on how about the 60m and 100m fausts? It seems that every German squad had several. With any accuracy at all with ranges that US and British tank vs German infantry were fought then the Allied tanks were just cannon fodder on the attack and should have been held back for a strictly support role. I'm wondering how this is going to be portrayed in the upcoming versions of the game.
  21. The default ground cover makes fine maps for Sicily but not for the Italian alps. Is there a way to select another default ground cover in the editor? Kinda like CMAK where the date and location of the map determined the default ground cover.
  22. Thanks mjkerner , some interesting and believable stories. Ist instance I have read about where the operator distrusted the panzerfaust so badly that he refused to fire it.
  23. Just lost 3 M10s from one shot from a Tiger. M10 one took a direct hit to the flank and the shell took out 2 more M10s on its flank.
  24. Will the upgrade be available on a disc in addition to a download? If not then how long will the download be available for future installs like if your computer fails and the whole game has to be installed or if you buy a new computer ,etc.
